Bruce Jenvey I just released "The Gun Primer" on Amazon and B&N sites for all of $2.99.
This is a NON-PARTISAN look at firearms throughout history and modern times: How they function, what's their advantage, their particular limitation. The intent of this "Guns for Dummies" approach is to help fellow authors work realistic gun uses (and flaws) into their writing.
I have already been told by several that non-writers would enjoy this too, if not for just the knowledge, but for the joy of spotting flaws in their favorite TV Shows.

Richard E. (richardejohns) | 69 comments About time.
I hear the scratch noise of the old record whenever I read something like: "Sgt Rock, brass flying from the left side of his M4, charged the enemy bunker."
And the other infamous line: "Slapping a clip into his Glock, Tony Dangerous released the safety and started firing his pistol at the four bad guys..."

Those book drops to the floor and maybe I will return to it after I finsh other books on the shelf.

THANK YOU!

Well Done!

Bruce Jenvey Thank you, Richard! I'm hearing non-author types are enjoying as well especially now that Stephen King has put out "Guns" and the technical difficulties therein.

message 6: by Hope Welsh (new)

Hope Welsh | 28 comments so maybe we can stop seeing books with semi-automatic weapons with a cylinder? Think that was the funniest line I'd ever read.

Bruce Jenvey That is just one of many sins... BUT we have to get them to read it!

Richard E. (richardejohns) | 69 comments One of the best 'Cover art' was a Mack Bolan 'The Executioner' novel (somewhere in the 400s, I think).
It showed the charactr firing the new six shot grenade launcher (issued to SF, Seals and the Marine Corp) and there were 9MM cartridges coming out between two of the cylinders, kinda like an ejection port.... WTH ???
I'm Sorry, but the 'cartridges' from that weapon are 40MM, you have to 'cycle them out like the olde West sixshooter, fill them back up by hand and then shart shooting again... Laughed outright in the bookstore when I saw it.
WTH ???
