Book Trailers (tm) & Author Web Sites discussion

I wanted to thank everyone for the warm welcome I've received. I love this group and the wealth of information that is being offered here.

Having said that, I would like to ask, (my question may have been covered already) as I am in the process of making my own book trailer(s).

Can trailers actually boost the sales for an author? And what were your trailer making experience like? Did you do it yourselves, or hired somone?

As I am still in the process of creating a trailer, I can't vouch first hand...but I believe from what others say, that it does help sales.

We've had about 13,000 views in a year on YouTube--most of those are people we could never reach without the trailer. Whether that has actually translated to sales I'm not sure, but I imagine that over time, having 13,000 people view something about the book can't be a bad thing.

I love YouTube and have purchased books and music after viewing a preview on YouTube.

13,000 views has to relate to more sales...how could it not?

Thanks Dee! 'm sure this has already been covered at length, so excuse my newbie rant here, but I've found that the Internet is an incredible place to put the book in front of people. Book trailers, of course, is another way of doing so. And people are so audio-visual these days so watching a well-crafted trailer on, say, Facebook, might increase the chance of someone actually want to read the book.
