A few questions to get the discussion started:

Have you read the book before?
What are your thoughts on the author?
What are your feelings about reading this book?

I can't wait to get started on this one. Looks like I'm one of the only people who haven't read it already.

Cherrelle Smith (spoonary) I read this book for the first time last week, although I bought it a while ago, close to release, I think. I finally caved in because everyone was raving so much about how amazing it is and how much it made them cry and think about life.

I'm not sure what to say. I did have a review of the book on here but I accidentally deleted it from my 'read' list and then just didn't feel like re-writing the review.

About the Author: I used to watch John Green's videos on youtube with his brother Hank, so I knew the name. Unfortunately, I never read any of the author's books, even before I stopped watching the videos, but I always had curiosity.

Now, the important bit, my opinion about the book. Well, it was really good. It DID make me cry, but not at the moment I think it was supposed to. As for thinking about life and what our existence means or whatever, yeah, it DID make me think about those things to a certain extent.

Overall, 'The Fault in our Stars' was a really good read, and I definitely recommend it to everyone who is on the fence about it as I was. However, I just think it was a bit too 'real' to make a significant mark on me. I prefer to escape this world when reading, not to be rooted in reality and reminded of how much it sucks.

I guess that's just down to personal taste...

One of my favourite books ever. I laughed and I cried. What a brilliant author!

Cherrelle Smith (spoonary) Have you read any of John Green's other books Lucia? If not, do you want to read them?

Marie (fyeahmarie) | 135 comments c/p from the spoiler thread, since I just realized that my thoughts are spoiler-free (I think):

Just finished it last night; it only took me a day to read. The attention it's receiving is definitely well-deserved; a realization I had to determine for myself because I don't like getting caught up in the hype.

Friendly warning: don't read this before bedtime unless you know for sure you don't cry over books. I was a sobbing mess and my eyes feel weird and puffy this morning (no time to freeze cucumbers).

Needless to say, this got a five star rating from me.

Maggie the Muskoka Library Mouse (mcurry1990) I enjoyed this book when I read it last year. It was predictable, but still good. I think Hazel was a great narrator.
