Jojo (jojosbooknook) | 717 comments I'm the kind of girl who will read the same book over and over again, on the other hand my sister reads a book once and that's it. She doesn't understand why I will read a book so much. What kind of reader are you?

message 2: by Alison (new)

Alison (ampoth) if I like a book I will read it multiple times. also if I'm reading a series and a new book comes out, I'll reread the whole seties. I don't know why I just know I will have forgotten things by the time another book is released lol. :)

message 3: by Melanie (new)

Melanie (melabee) | 9 comments I read books once unless I'm reading the book again to discuss with a book group.

message 4: by Lynn, Moderator (new)

Lynn | 4466 comments Mod
I like to read books (my favourites) over but don't do it very often because there's so many un-read books out there on my tbr list!
(and friends to see, movies to watch .... )

message 5: by Anima (new)

Anima Miejska | 1698 comments I usually read book once, I've got lots of book to be read, so I often do not have time to re-read, but if the book is outstanding for some reason, I get back to it, and read it many times, I've got three or four such book so far.

message 6: by donna (new)

donna (donnahag) | 23 comments I love to reread only a certain ones. My all time favorite is To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee and Little Women by Louisa May Alcott . I have so many to read though!

message 7: by Savanes (new)

Savanes | 2107 comments I tend to read book once but there are some exceptions! :)

message 8: by Henry (new)

Henry | 17 comments I've read Huckleberry Finn at least four times, and Don Quixote twice. Also Stranger in a Strange Land and The Left Hand of Darkness (which is one of the best science fiction books ever written. Also Ringworld.

message 9: by Jojo (new)

Jojo (jojosbooknook) | 717 comments I have my favorites, which I have read too many times to count! And then there are other books that I will reread if I don't have anything new to read.

message 10: by Mithun (new)

Mithun Padiyar | 3 comments There are some favorites that i have read more than once. English August is one of them. Hardy Boys used to be my favorite when i was 10.

message 11: by [deleted user] (new)

Only once. The only exceptions are for reading discussion groups. Or, if it's a resource type of information that may be referred to again.

message 12: by Kathleen (new)

Kathleen | 38 comments I'll definitely read them again and again if I really love the book or series.

message 13: by Christine (new)

Christine (christinekinsella) | 25 comments If I enjoy the book enough, I'll read it again...and again....and again!

message 14: by Kokab (new)

Kokab Rahman (kokabrahman) Usually I read a book / story only once. Once I've read it, I can never reread it. There was just one book that I rad when i was 12 & i loved it very much. I actually read that book thrice! It was called Mystery of the Witches Bridge and is one of my very favorite books.

message 15: by Patti (new)

Patti King | 11 comments I don't read books more than once...not do I typically watch a movie more than once. There are some books that I would love to re-read however I always seem to find a book that I haven't read that calls to me.

message 16: by Jojo (new)

Jojo (jojosbooknook) | 717 comments I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who re-reads! To those of you who do, what book would you say you read most frequently? For me it's a toss up between The Harry Potter series and My Sisters Keeper.

message 17: by Amina (new)

Amina (aminahajeej) | 10 comments I usually read only once, I don't remember if I re-read a book before, but I like to flip pages in search of some passages I liked and re-read them.

message 18: by Karen (new)

Karen | 12 comments I do not reread a book. There are so many good books that strike my interests or my friends always refer me to books they have read and lastly there are the book club selections. I would live to reread one book and that is INDIGO by Beverly Jenkins:)

message 19: by Christine (new)

Christine Hatfield (christinesbookshelves) | 800 comments I read a book once

message 20: by Courtney (new)

Courtney Dearing | 1 comments I typically will read books only once but there are a few that I will read again and again. Some of my favorites to reread are Pride and Prejudice, Canterbury Tales, Harry Potter, Hot Zone and anything by Poe.

message 21: by Liz (new)

Liz (hissheep) Vanessa wrote: "I tend to read book once but there are some exceptions! :)"

I totally agree ... however, very few books have been read more than once! ;o)

message 22: by Stefan (new)

Stefan Yates (stefan31) I love to re-read books, however with so many new books out there, I do feel kind of bad when I decide to re-read something. But once I get started again on a tale that I love, that guilt quickly fades.

message 23: by Tracey (new)

Tracey (traceypb) I think some books are meant to be read over and over... you can find new things in re reading that may have been missed on first look

message 24: by Christine (new)

Christine Hatfield (christinesbookshelves) | 800 comments I agree with that part

message 25: by Josephine (new)

Josephine (funkyj123) | 14 comments I guess it depends on the book really. I love to read it over just to collect the intimation all over again. Sometimes it helps me to understand the story better.

message 26: by D.R. (new)

D.R. Mayes (drmayes) | 3 comments If I like the book, I will will read it multiple times. I've read "Wish You Well" by David Baldacci four times.

message 27: by Olya (last edited Mar 04, 2013 11:58AM) (new)

Olya | 2 comments I read Pride and Prejudice Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen 7 times. I'm a bookworm and if I like the book I will re-read it again and again. Nobody understands me, but I can't explain them that it's very intersting to feel those reading emotions ones more)

message 28: by Elle (new)

Elle There are too many books on my “to-read-list" that I will never get to in my lifetime let alone re-read. I'm sure there is an exception, (there has to be right?) but I've yet to experience it.

message 29: by Diann (new)

Diann Shaddox (diannshaddox) If I truly love the book I will reread it, maybe years later.

message 30: by Josephine (new)

Josephine (funkyj123) | 14 comments If I go on holiday, i dont by anymore books I just read the one i havent read in ages.

message 31: by Ardhin (new)

Ardhin Dian (nimbusstar187) | 6 comments I love to re-read my books. Especially my favourite ones. And I also re-read my books because I love to read but I need to save money to buy more books. So I just re-read until I buy a new book

message 32: by Carla (new)

Carla (Carla's Book Bits) (carlasbookbits) I like to re-read old books, but I usually wait a while until it's not as fresh in my mind anymore. I only re-read the stuff I remember really liking/getting attached to, or stuff I grew up with.

message 33: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 18 comments I like to re-read a lot of books, especially those from my childhood. I rarely read them cover to cover, though. I end up with a lot of books that I feel like I might want to read again, which is especially rough in a small apartment. I am out of room.

message 34: by Lost_withinbooks (new)

Lost_withinbooks (Amy) (fanatic-of-books) I like to re-read books book there have to be at-least a year gap before i start to read it again. But i only find myself reading it again if i do not have anything to read at the moment or a scene from it was worth the re-read.

message 35: by Lori (new)

Lori Baldi I will re-read my favorites. Sometimes it doesn't work though. I started a favorite by Susan Howatch, Cashelmara, and I just couldn't get through it. It's still a good book though. There are books that I've read 3 or 4 times. Only about 10 books that are re-readable.

message 36: by Bobbi (new)

Bobbi (bobbi817) | 7 comments The only books I have been able to re-read are the Harry Potter books. Otherwise I find myself remembering what is going to happen right before it happens and that annoys me.

message 37: by Jill (new)

Jill Sanders (jillmsanders) If I have the hard copy I can read it over and over until the binding falls apart, if it's a good book.

message 38: by Essi (new)

Essi Mutina (essimutina) | 8 comments I usually read a book once. But when it comes to series, I tend to forget the previous book while reading the current publish book. So I will re-read the series if I have time and if I cannot continue reading the new book without remembering the previous story. Harry Potter definitely is one of the series that I re-read.

message 39: by Derek (new)

Derek Dewitt (memefactory) I seldom re-read a book. In fact, almost never. Though I might re-read a few that I read when back in the 70s and 80s (to refresh my memory of them.) I would certainly never re-read any book I gave less than four stars to, and probably, really, only ones I gave the full five to.
I have sometimes picked up a book, started getting through it, been bothered by a strangely familiar feeling, and then realized a quarter of the way through that I have read it before but had blanked it out. Thank goodness for Goodreads - now I don't have to remember, I can just look it up.

Vedriel | 25 comments Lynn wrote: "I like to read books (my favourites) over but don't do it very often because there's so many un-read books out there on my tbr list!

I totally agree! Some books I would love to re-read some books (and who knows, perhaps I will some time), but there are too many books and too many other things to do...

message 41: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 6 comments Wow, I'm so surprised. I read books constantly over and over, well only my faves. They are a perfect read for a icky rain day or when I'm feeling sad and lonely. Certain books are like cuddling up with a comfy blanky on a blustery day. I totally get it! =)

message 42: by Lorraine (new)

Lorraine (saanichlori) Good books, like good movies, can be re-read if you wait a few years. I recently re-read This Rough Magic by Mary Stewart after about ten years, and it was like a new book (except I remembered who the baddie was).

message 43: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Szewczuk It depends on the book. If I really enjoyed it then I will read it over and over again. If I wasn't that thrilled, then I won't.

message 44: by [deleted user] (new)

there too many books to read so i never read twice.

message 45: by Jenni (last edited Mar 14, 2013 06:57AM) (new)

Jenni (jcarlene) I'm 50/50 on this: Danielle Steele's The Promise I've read at least 5 times. Other books I've read twice (and want to read again). I have a stack I would love to read again but it's true there are just so many other books to read that's hard to spend time reading one you're already read.

message 46: by Carla (new)

Carla (Carla's Book Bits) (carlasbookbits) Once in a while, I get into the mood to reread my favorites, but only books that I really think are five-star.

The best rereads I've ever had were the Harry Potter series, though. There's just so much the second (or third.. or fourth.. lol!) time around.

message 47: by Sara (new)

Sara (sdingel) | 52 comments One time, and I am done. I do reread self reliance sometimes. Even if I really enjoy I story I hate to reread it knowing exactly what is going to happen and things they say. It's boring and there many great books out there I haven't ever read so why not try something new?

message 48: by [deleted user] (new)

It depends on how much I enjoy the book. I have read different books well of 30 times and other I have read once and never again. I have re-read and plan to re-read all of the books I really like or love. Some of them I always read once each year.

message 49: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 6 comments It depends. Some books are just a one timer. But there are books that just become a part of me. Either I read it during a sad/rough time or it was such a great book, I like to have it in case I'm in the mood for an easy comfortable read. It is like that old college sweatshirt that needs to be retired but it is broken in just right. And please my "to read" list has gotten so long, I need typed in Excel to also include who recommended it. I just found Bill Gates Reading list but I've knocked a few of those back. Who would have thought he read the Hunger Games. Plus with all my usual reading, I really want to reread the classics from US and the I've established I missed that my niece is now reading. Is there a job I can get for all this reading and retire from education where it is so hard to engage kids in reading in general?

message 50: by ElvenRaven (new)

ElvenRaven | 244 comments I read books only once, but I reread them if I really loved them. The only book I've read countless times is The Lord of the Rings, my all-time favourite. There are so many books in my to-read list that I usually pick up a new one instead of going back to one I've already read.
