Amanda (paleoterra) Hi everyone, I haven't been on goodreads very long but I've been on paperbackswap for years. It's a very efficient and easy way to swap books with other avid readers. When you sign up and post 10 books to swap, you get 2 free credits. Each book is "bought" with one credit; send a book, and get a book!
If you join and use this link to do so, I (as your referrer) get one free credit when you post your first 10 books!
Try it, you'll really love it. I promise! I personally can't get enough!

Thanks for using me as your referrer if you do sign up! I appreciate it tons. :)

My experience with swap sites is that it's really easy to collect a lot of "credits", and really hard to find something you want to spend them on. (All books are not equal. Titles that are popular/in demand get picked up quickly, leaving only a pile of white elephants. Many swap sites have disappeared; e.g. Zunafish, Switchplanet, Peerflix, leaving users with "credits". Of course, if you didn't want the books you swapped anyway, you're only out the cost of postage for mailing them.)

Personally, I now do my "swapping" on Amazon as used books, etc., because then the credit I get can actually be spent on anything.

Just my perspective.

Jim (jimmaclachlan) | 2369 comments I've had very good luck with PaperBackSwap & even have to buy credits occasionally, a nice ability for a book hoarder like myself. I've had a BookMooch account much longer & a bunch of credits there that I can't seem to use.

I've found that AbeBooks.com is a better deal for buying used books than Amazon. The difference is in the postage & direct vendor contact. Instead of $3.99 postage for every book, they're usually $1 less per book & far less when multiples are ordered from the same store. Also, I used them for my oversea friends. I can order direct from a store in their country & save a bunch. They also don't spam me as much as Albris does.
