Andor The release date on this is June 25th, 4 months from now. Already there are 223 ratings at the time I write this, about 60% of these are 5 stars and 30% gave 4 stars.

I know fans usually rate unreleased books, but the ratio seems too high. The previous book doesn't even have 4k ratings yet.

Is there some massive ARC giveaway I don't know about or is it rigged somehow or what?
What's going on?

Shahbaz Rigged

Krista D. People use Goodreads in different ways. For example, I know many readers who use Goodreads as a way to keep track of books they want to read, including using the rating system for how badly they want that particular book. Once they read it, they'll adjust their rating, if necessary.

I'm with Krista. I use good reads mostly to track myself. That being said I've enjoyed every book in this series.

Andor Yea, I've heard some people use ratings in their to-read shelves to prioritize, but it still seemed a little high for that.
Stephen King's upcoming blockbuster, Doctor Sleep, the sequel to Shining, is due in a month and has only 42 ratings.

I don't really care though, not accusing anyone here. Iron Druid is probably my fav urban(?) fantasy series (not really urban though, but you get the idea).

Neil Hi Andor, If you follow Kevin's blog (both on his site and Goodreads), Kevin actually does quite a few giveaway contests, this may have impacted the pre-release rating.

Jim Butcher's next book in the Dresden Files series, Skin Game, due out in December, has 87 5-star reviews already, and if you poke around on the internet there's a YouTube video of him reading the first chapter :)

While I didn't pre-rate the book, I did pre-order it. Consequently the ePub downloaded to my Kobo at midnight on the day of the release, and I actually read it and reviewed it the same day, or maybe the next. Needless to say, I'm with you on ranking the Iron Druid series pretty darn close to the top of my Urban Fantasy favourites list!
