Linda Boyd (boydlinda95gmailcom) | 108 comments Congrats Nikki that is so great! Your mom has been home for several days now - how is she feeling??

message 52: by ☻Nikki☻ (new)

☻Nikki☻ (nikkic1998) | 480 comments She is doing really well. She's tired but so glad to be home. She cooked dinner on Sunday (with a little help). It wore her out but I think she felt good doing it. I have to take her back for another appointment next Friday but hopefully all will go well.

So far things haven't calmed down much for me. I was off work today but I ran from the time I woke up until I got home an hour or so ago. I think things should start calming down soon though.

How is everyone else doing? I feel like I've totally neglected the group the last few months. I hope to start being able to be more active if things start calming down a bit. Thank you Jennifer for keeping up with the group. What would we do without you!

message 53: by Jennifer C (new)

Jennifer C You are very welcome. I didn't do very much. :) and that is what Friends are for - to help hold up the little things so you can focus on the big things. :)

Quick update on me - I had a first date with a new guy last week but haven't heard much from him since our date. We think its because he is a body builder and going into competition on Saturady so is focosed on that right now.

Its funny, until I started to see this guy, I didn't realize how many people around me know a body builder. Its really fun how its brought me closer to people and exposed a piece of their lives that I would never have otherwise known about.

message 54: by ☻Nikki☻ (new)

☻Nikki☻ (nikkic1998) | 480 comments Jennifer, Did you ever hear back from the body builder?

message 55: by Jennifer C (new)

Jennifer C A week later, after his competition I sent him a text asking how he did. He told me that his ex came to support him and they decided to get back together.

I do have a first date tonight with a gentleman who lives near my parents house (where I grew up) so we will see how that goes. This one has lots of promise. lol, although I have said that before.

BUT, just to leave you with a laugh, at the time that hte body builder was saying good bye to me, a new guy was saying hello. All was well until he told me he believed in Aliens - and not just that there is life on other planets. He believes that aliens built the pryamids and that they live here on Earth with us. I kid you not. Suffice it to say, we are no longer pursuing anything.

Art Bell would love him!!!

Oh my! Well, I'm old and retired . . . and I don't do warpaint anymore . . and I prefer my own company . . . so thank goodness the dating mode is something I don't have to think about. Hope you find someone interesting in your pursuit . . . ;-)

message 58: by Jennifer C (new)

Jennifer C thanks tomerobber. Its been a long journey, I hope I meet someone soon.

Last night's date got moved to today so I am still waiting to see what kind of chemistry I have with Josh.

message 59: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (cherylllr) I bet it's hard to find somebody worthy - Jennifer, you're a special woman and deserve a good guy. I'm rooting for you.

message 60: by Jennifer C (new)

Jennifer C Thanks Cheryl.

The date with josh was great. We went out Friday and Saturday night and have chatted and/or texted everyday. He has great potential. :) Fingers crossed.

☻Nikki☻ (nikkic1998) | 480 comments Jennifer, Is everything still going well with Josh? ::fingers crossed::

I just got home from taking my Mom for a check-up at the transplant center. She is doing Awesome! Her liver function is outstanding & she has no problems with the liver at all. She is now no longer needing oxygen except when really exerting herself. She is doing so well that they said she can wait a month to come back instead of 2 weeks! Yippee!

message 62: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh, that's wonderful, Nikki!!!

Great news, Nikki!!

Katie | 1 comments Hello fellow audiobook lovers! I wrote a post about one of the pitfalls of audiobook reading -- I'd love to hear any funny experiences you've had like mine. http://katiesweeney.com/on-consulting...

(and please do check out my list!)

message 66: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (cherylllr) Yay Nikki!

Summer is here, finally - I'm about to take a break from GR and take a book outside. Not an audio, though, cuz I like the bird song.

message 67: by Linda (new)

Linda Boyd (boydlinda95gmailcom) | 108 comments Nikki that is such exciting news for you, I know that you guys are so happy. We will continuing praying that your mom will just get better and better!!! woo hoo!!!

message 68: by Jennifer C (new)

Jennifer C Nikki that is great news!!!

Update on Josh - I thought things were starting to go downhill and then yesterday he texted me and said it looks like you aren't interested so good luck in your search. I replied back that I thought he wasn't interested. Since then things have been picking back up.

Its been slow going and I don't think he is Mr. Right but he might be ok for Mr. Right Now.

You can never have too many friends . . .

message 70: by [deleted user] (new)

I hesitate to say this, but if he can't communicate now, he's unlikely to be able to do so later.

message 71: by Linda (new)

Linda Boyd (boydlinda95gmailcom) | 108 comments Hang in there for a bit with him Jennifer maybe he is feeling a bit shy or something.

And I agree with Jennifer, if communication is his weakness, then it won't get better. But it sounds like you are okay with him being Mr Right Now - true???

message 72: by Jennifer C (new)

Jennifer C Yes, we had another point blank text exchange this morning so I am not completely putting him out of the running but I am completely ok with him being Mr.Right Now.

I did start talking to another gentleman last night. His name is Mark. We will see if he has potential. He might... lol dating stinks!!!! :)

message 73: by [deleted user] (new)

You sound gorgeous, smart and funny. What more could he want?

:P

message 74: by Jennifer C (new)

Jennifer C You are awesome Jennifer! Thank you. That is what my co-worker tells me too. According to her, he should be worried about losing me as I am the better catch in the couple.

Thanks guys. I need to hear this. I see so much goodness in the people around me, I forget to see it in myself too.

message 75: by [deleted user] (new)

Delighted that I could help :-)

message 76: by Linda (new)

Linda Boyd (boydlinda95gmailcom) | 108 comments You are right Jennifer, dating does stink but the end result is really nice. Plus I think you should date a bunch of guys, that way if someone does not work out, then you can just cross him off the list and move on to someone else. I know you will find the right one - you just have to wade thru the junky stuff first...

message 77: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (cherylllr) And with a name like Jennifer, you know you've got a great sisterhood. ;)

Seriously gals, though, my old eyes are having trouble seeing the different avatar pictures you have, and neither of you has a title or other distinguisher in your names - maybe, as a special favor, you could indulge me and do something to help me keep track of which is which?

message 78: by [deleted user] (last edited Jun 12, 2013 11:33AM) (new)

It worked :-)

message 79: by [deleted user] (new)

I noticed that Project Gutenburg has added support for audiobooks to its iOS app! That can only mean good things to come :)

message 80: by Jennifer C (new)

Jennifer C Great title Jennifer. :)

You are so right Linda. I have started talking to another guy as well. His name is Mark. We will see what happens. :)

message 83: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (cherylllr) Thank you Jennifer E...!

message 84: by [deleted user] (new)

And thank YOU for asking. I had meant to do something about that, but was too lazy until you prompted me :)

message 85: by ☻Nikki☻ (new)

☻Nikki☻ (nikkic1998) | 480 comments Well, I have been slightly MIA the last month or so. Our computer caught a virus & we have fought with it for the last few weeks. I believe it is finally fixed. I have been trying to stay caught up on posts on my iPad & phone but I despise typing posts with them so I usually wait until I have an actual keyboard :)

I hope everyone is doing well. Jennifer, I haven't seen you in a little while. Hope you are doing okay. Any good news on the dating front??

How is everyone else doing?

All is slightly quiet in my neck of the woods. This week will be a little busy for me. I am working this weekend plus Labor Day (don't get off for holidays at a hospital), and I work all this coming week. Our church Youth Group starts back up this Thursday evening (in which I teach a class) & then I have an Origami Owl Jewelry Party on Friday evening. I have to get up & leave for Louisville, KY around 4am on Saturday to go for an Origami Owl training event, then if not too tired will be driving back that evening (it's about a 5 hour drive so I'll have to see how I feel).

Anybody else having a crazy week or are you just enjoying the 3 day holiday weekend?

message 86: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (cherylllr) Well, my grown son has moved back in. And they say we've recovered from the recession... hmpf. But once things settle in, it might be a good thing, as he can help out with chores etc.

Who knew Origami would be connected with excitement?!

message 87: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (cherylllr) Well I've been missing this group. I know it's my own fault for not participating in the monthly reads, but did I miss an announcement for November?

message 88: by ☻Nikki☻ (new)

☻Nikki☻ (nikkic1998) | 480 comments No, you didn't miss it Cheryl. My life seems to keep getting busier & busier and I forgot to post the poll so I guess we will just skip a November read. Sorry for the confusion. Glad to see you back though.

message 89: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (cherylllr) ok, that's fine, do take care

message 90: by ☻Nikki☻ (new)

☻Nikki☻ (nikkic1998) | 480 comments Hey everyone. I've been really busy the last couple of months & unfortunately this group has kind of had to go on the back burner. I hate that I can't give the group the time it deserves so I'm looking for someone else to help me co-moderate the group. If anyone is interested please let me know. I need someone to be able to answer any questions anyone might have and possibly be able to post the group read polls & discussion threads.

My pleasure, everyone!

And, though this is not about audiobooks, I'll be on television tonight - sometime between 10 and 11pm Eastern, on National Geographic Channel's How to Survive the End of the World - if you'd like to wave hello! (I'll try to respond to every wave with a subtle nod.)

Here are more details on the series http://paullevinson.blogspot.com/2013...

Zara's Retreat Hello everyone. how have you all you been? I have just posted a poll for the February group read. Please go HERE to cast your vote.

message 98: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (cherylllr) Well, the Binchy was a good read, but I don't know that I want to read books for the group if we're not going to discuss them....
