Becca (ladybeccaboo) | 230 comments I don't know if any of you had purchased the kindle copy of Beautiful Disaster, but I just got an email that concerns me. I purchased it from amazon on 7/4/12. Anyone else get this? What the heck is going on? Are they seriously saying they want me to buy it again? Email is below:

Hello from Amazon.com,

We want to let you know that the edition of Beautiful Disaster that you purchased is no longer available. You can order a new version that is now available here:

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B008JMKN4Y/

You can also request a refund on your original purchase by responding to this email. After the refund is issued, you will no longer be able to access this item.

Thank you,

The Kindle Team

Shadow Jubilee (uhqs) I had a similar thing happen to me although I did not get an e-mail. One of the books I'd purchased a couple of years ago had become unavailable when the rights switched back to the author. He self-published it (at a higher price than which I had purchased it at). I had difficulty lending my copy to someone else, and when I went to the book page, it did not have the notice that I owned it. I queried Amazon CS, explaining what had happened (rights reverted, book republished under author, unable to lend, and possible difficulty accessing my book in future) and asked whether they could replace my copy with the new copy. The CS rep told me that this could not be done but said that he would refund me my original purchase and to repurchase the book. I did not agree to this because the current copy is more expensive and I did not LOVE the book, but he did it without asking me. I got a refund, at least.

In short, yes, you will have to repurchase it. They will refund you, though.
