Have you read Colin Bateman? Or Carl Hiassen?
I'd also recommend Christopher Fowlers Bryant and May series.

I really enjoyed this too Donna! :)

I am trying the A-Z author challenge, so would love any recommendations people have by authors with surnames beginning with:
O, Q, U, X, Y or Z! I am open to any genre! :)

Just a reminder that this is a thread for readers to recommend reads, not for authors to plug their own work. Ta.

Yes, there is a link to my work at the end of them. If that crosses a line, I’ll respect that.
Paul.

I've read most of the classics. Could anyone recommend me a more recent novel set in England(No horror, murder mystery or thriller, please!)"

Abigail, Brat Farrer has been on my to read list for years and years. One day I will get around to it! Perhaps I should move it up the list. Thanks for the reminder.

Well what genre of book do you like? That would help with recommendations. LEP

1,000 Years, 1,000 People by Gottlieb & Bowers
The Century by Peter Jennings & Todd Brewster
Fiction Recommendations:
Tai-Pan by James Clavell
The Stolen Child by Keit..."
Heavens, I hated Lord of the Flies. I had to study it for GCE's many moons ago. It's definitely a 'marmite' book - you either love it or hate it! LEP

Karen Marie Moning's Darkfever series can be classed as dystopian. However, it helps if you have read her previous series first as some of the characters from that appear in it.

Well Martha Wells Raskura series certainly features the sea in some of the books. She's a great writer and I'd really recommend this series. It starts with The Cloud Roads and goes on from there with short story collections and add-on novels. Give it a try.

Try Marcia Willett - The Sea Garden. It is set in Devon/Cornwall.

Well Martha Wells Raskura series certa..."
This book has just come up in my recommendations and it seems just what you wanted: Florence (Florence Waverley 1) by Ciye Cho.

I like world war 1 and 2 books, fiction or non-fiction. 3 good books I read recently and would recommend are All the Light We Cannot See..."
All the Light We Cannot See was very good.

Karen Azinger - Silk and Steel saga
Jodi Taylor - The Chronicles of St Mary's (funny - time travelling historians, not sword and sorcery)
Martha Wells - The Raskura series and add on books (not sword and sorcery, but a marvellous series by a wonderful author). Starts with The Cloud Road.
Martha Wells - The Ile-Reine series. Starts with The Element of Fire.
There are others that I need to check on the authors for before I post them.
