I highly enjoyed it. I loved all the characters, and the writing was remarkable.

I agree, I preferred this novel over Interview with a Vampire but am always glad that I read Interview first because you form this opinion of Lestat that is utterly decimated when you read this book.

I do remember prefering this book over the "Interview with a Vampire"

This book was terrible

Lestat and Tale of the Body Thief were my favorites from Anne Rice. Really enjoyable reads. Epic scale of adventure & depth of characterization. The stories are so engaging, the characters so brilliantly flawed that the reader feels compelled to keep reading. Just another chapter, just one more page...

For any first timers out there who are interested in seeing what the fuss is all about: Lestat is an excellent place to start. The reader gets cozy with the brat prince and learns his history...from his perspective. Plus, picking up Interview after Lestat is a twisted little pleasure.

One of my favorite books of all time as well.
Definitely unforgettable.
I loved Nicki so much.

Lestat and Marius are probably her two most developed characters, I love both of them. I didn't like that they didn't accurately portray Marius in the Queen of the Damned movie, or Armand in Interview. But what are you going to do? *shrug*

Always enjoyed Interview more, not sure why, but it took me so long to get through Lestat because I kept thinking that we had already discussed all of this but now just from a different point of view. As a result I have read Interview 5-6 times and finally slogged through Lestat once.

This is my favorite book of the series. I LOVE Lestat and this book was the one that really did it for me. I really felt like Anne Rice had defined the character and the story of her Vampires very well in this book.

My absolute favourite Ann Rice! This one is just so well written!!

I first read this more than 20 years ago and then reread it about 10 years later. While this is far and away my favorite Anne Rice book, in fact one of my favorite books of all time, one must first read Interview with a Vampire (loved that too) to get Louis' take on their history. While Lestat comes across as pretty callous and unlikeable in the Interview book, he emerges much more admirable in this book and Louis is less appealing. The 2 books should be viewed as Parts 1 & 2 of the same story.

Well, it was better than the first book in my opinion. The only thing that still annoyed me in this book was how the characters get sidetracked with their philosophical questions over and over and over again. The characters get distracted by themselves. Gosh, it took them super long to get anything done.
Then, completely heartbreaking: Lestat and Nicolas.

Yeah well, at least Marius' explanations were very interesting. Also, Lestat never does what others tell him to do. What a jerk. At least that was sort of amusing.

I really liked the end though. Ahhh. Louis! <3

One of my favorite books and author. I enjoyed this book and even loved when Lestat turns his mother into a vampire. Crazy but so sweet to me. I loved that.

A great book

I loved all the books in this series and loved the mayfair witch books as well although this one is not my favorite I certainly loved it lestat is cool marius is cooler Louis is a bitch and Pandora can eat my heart out god I wish there was more vampire books done by anne rice after reading these books you wonder why Stephanie Meyers crap got such rave reviews

that and vampire armant are my favorite books from her

I love love this books!!! All of them Im enjoing then a lot. and the queen of damned is awesome! I had to stop reading them because I dont want to finish them too early I read: Interview with the Vampire,Lestat,Memnoch the evil, and I just started Armand who is my favourite Vampire.

Does anyone know why they say that Louis is the worst of all of them? I dont get it. Marious and Lestat both said that.

I saw "Interview" the movie, as my intro to Anne Rice and her lovely, lovely vampires. Hence, when I read her other books about Lestat, Louie, Armand et al, I see those characters. I now have a hard time getting my arms around Antonio Banderas as Armand. Well, that's the problem with books into movies. Anyways, when I read the previews for The Vampire Lestat, I expected a jolly romp with Lestat through the 80's rock scene. Instead, I found the history of Lestat and the others, albeit written well and interesting. Nevertheless, I personally, was disappointed - maybe not so much in the book but in the reviews. Before I read Prince Lestat, I am going to avoid reading anything about it. In conclusion I would like to add Lestat is my favorite vampire of any ever written and I will be a forever fan just the same. Just curiouus, did anyone else have similar expectations?

This is definitely my favorite Anne Rice book, and I've read them all.

I read this back when it first came our in paperback (1980s)!) I think her description of Lestat's taking his victims is some of the most erotic writing ever.

It taught me how to write, helped me find my style. Anne Rice? Oh, God! She's the first person who pops to my head when I'm asked about my favourite author.
Splendid and excruciatingly delicious to read.

I have all the books in the Vampire Chronicles and haven't found one I don't absolutely love and read again and again.

Although i liked this book, I liked the Queen of the Damned much better since it explained everything about the what and wherefore of all the vampires.

Ed Good grief! So much bad grammar & spelling in that last comment. It made practically no sense.

I loved this book! I read it by candle light and it really set the mood. This is my favorite so far in the vampire chronicles. It really makes you think about its connection to interview with a vampire and Lestat in that book, because you have more of a background for him.

One of my all time faves.

This book is amazing and I can't stop raving about it. God tier writing IMO.

One of my favorites in the Anne Rice Vampire Chronicles Series. Anne Rice is also one of my favorite authors. She is one of the better writers I have read.

This is my favorite book by Anne Rice that I have read.
I love Lestat, he's awesome, and more entertaining a narrator than Louis.

I was incredibly happy after laying my hands on this book literally starving to know more about the character. And I liked the book but surprisingly was unable to love it. Like with other parts of the series I had a feeling she promises more than can give in the end.

One of my favorate books of all time. :)

Ah-THIS is my second favorite of the Vampire novels. I love them all but it was such a different tone, of course being from Lestat's POV and not Louis' like in IVWAV. Lestat comes across so much more... human, dare I say?, in parts of this book, more so than in any other book featuring him.

This is definitely my fav book of the Vampire Chronicles... Lestat is one of the best characters ever. And here's the most beautiful lovestory of the Chronicles: Lestat and Nicki *__*
I wish Nicki could live more...maybe forever?

One of my favorites in the series. Love this book. Lestat is one of literatures most memorable characters. Anne Rice is a phenomenal weaver of the imagination.
