The Notebook
question
notebook
This is the ONLY book by Nicholas Sparks that I like. I thought it was fantastic and very moving. Have been sorely disappointed since. Have decided not to read any more of his work after a few tries.
Nicholas Sparks has some really wonderful stories and you shouldn't give up on him so easily. But I do agree the Notebook is probably one of his best books.
Loved it, but then again, I've dug all of his books. Strangely enough, if you read 3 weeks with my brother, you can see all these tragic emotional stories come from his own history! Quite a life he's led!
I enjoy any book that can touch my soul. The Notebook did that. The only other one of Sparks' works I've read is A Walk to Remember. Again, it touched me. I couldn't make a steady diet of his works, but will continue to read more of them with the passage of time.
Besides the Notebook, Message In A Bottle is my next favorite. It is a moving story of one man who, in his lifetime, was blessed to experience a soulful love twice. It's a very emotional love story that blossoms from the telling of another love story. Hard to explain...Stark is magic with the written word and all the emotions his words evoke. His stories always remind me of a saying about life, "every moment is precious"
I’m yet to find a book of his that I didn't like. I do agree that his books are all very similar; I find them a ‘safe’ book to read because there is a good chance I will like it. I relate to the characters and relationship in different ways which is probably why I continue to read the stories. I really enjoyed the notebook! Having a family of Alzheimer's, this book will always be a favorite!
