AndrewP (andrewca) | 67 comments I was thinking the other day how awesome it would be to have a big budget Sword of Truth movie. The question is, who would you cast in the various roles. Assuming you could put together actors from different generations and times and not just from today, who would be your ideal cast?

It's not as easy as you might think so here are a couple I though of to get started:

Cara - Mila Jovovich
Kahlin - Crystal Gayle (only person I could think of who has the hair)
Jagang - Bill Goldberg the wrestler

You get a gold star for saying Milla Jovovich.

Hollieann | 7 comments You get two gold stars for saying milla jovovich!

One upper much? lol Silly Hollieann ;)

message 5: by AndrewP (new)

AndrewP (andrewca) | 67 comments Henry Cavill and Eva Green - those work for me :)

message 6: by Jordan (new)

Jordan Self | 1 comments There is not one person who could act any of the characters in a movie. Reasons: 1. A movie should never be made, it would be ruined. 2. A show has already been made, and they should just make more seasons. 3. The actors for the show were perfect, the show was my introduction to the SoT universe, and I can't picture anyone else in my mind that could act the most well designed characters ever made in the history of literature.

message 7: by Hollieann (new)

Hollieann | 7 comments I disagree, imo Craig never looked right as Richard... He seemed too boyish and young, whereas Richard always struck me as a tall broad man wise beyond his years. Bridget did a great job of being Kahlan - but her eyes should have been green!!! Contacts don't cost much?

I also agree that there should never be a movie, we all have our own versions of it :-)

message 8: by Stevie (new)

Stevie (pandorasbox_aka_confessor) | 14 comments I personally couldn't think of anyone that could play the parts correctly so part of me says no to a movie however a movie might get more people to read the series "which I think EVERYONE should read them" if it was done correctly but that's just me

message 9: by AndrewP (new)

AndrewP (andrewca) | 67 comments The TV series was okay, but I agree with Hollieann about Richard. Craig Horner never looked the part mainly because he was to small compared with his description in the books. The others that didn't work for me in the TV show were Shotta and Nicci.

And yeah, it seems very hard to think of people who could play the parts correctly, which is why I asked in the first place :)

message 10: by Andrew (new)

Andrew | 15 comments I agree that Craig Horner wasn't right for it, Richard is described as the most dangerous man alive, and Horner was just never that dangerous looking. I would say maybe a Gerrard Butler type, but Gerrard Butler is too old now for Richard, maybe Chris Hemsworth

message 11: by Marina (new)

Marina Fontaine (marina_fontaine) | 98 comments Chris Hemsworth has the build, but Richard is very eloquent and I just don't see the Thor guy winning over a Mord-Sith with nothing but words:)

Andrew does have the right idea, though.

message 12: by Amber (new)

Amber (ivorydoom) | 53 comments Yah, I liked the show, but I watched it before I read the books.

I thought the actors would mostly a fine fit, except, like the majority of you, Richard/Craig Horner.

That was just a weird choice. He looks nothing like how I imagined Richard. Actually, now that I think about it, I didn't care much for the chick who played Nicci either. But then again, she was one of my favorite book characters, so I thought maybe I was just biased. Nice to see someone else thought she was a bit flawed as well.

I think someone like David Boreanaz could have played a better Richard. Though sometimes his acting lacks depth.

A younger Hugh Jackman would be really good. (IMO)

As for Nicci, I always kinda pictured her looking a bit like Keira Knightly...LOL

message 13: by AndrewP (new)

AndrewP (andrewca) | 67 comments Amber wrote: "As for Nicci, I always kinda pictured her looking a bit like Keira Knightly...LOL "

Yeah, Keira Knightly would not be bad but I always pictured Nicci as having Kate Upton's cleavage :)

message 14: by Amber (new)

Amber (ivorydoom) | 53 comments BAHAHA! Yah, I could go for that as well. Kiera Knightly is missing some of the curves I'd imagine Nicci having as well.

Hello Photoshop. LOL

message 15: by AndrewP (new)

AndrewP (andrewca) | 67 comments Thinking about it Kevin Sorbo, back in his Hercules days, comes closer to my image of Richard than Craig Horner does.

message 16: by Maria (new)

Maria Kelly | 4 comments in Legend of the Seeker, i also think Craig was too boyish to play Richard but i still loved him anyway. i think verna was too old in the series. i think they got the other cast members spot on, even though Darken Rahl had black hair (i think it made look more distinguished and evil - but thats just me).i'm also glad they changed Nicci from Jolene Blalock to Emily Foxler.

message 17: by AndrewP (new)

AndrewP (andrewca) | 67 comments I think some of the boyish look in Legend of the Seeker is that he looks small besides Zedd. But, Bruce Spence, playing Zedd is 6' 7" tall. So almost anyone might look a bit small standing next to him.

message 18: by John (new)

John LeViness (jlawrence) | 5 comments Richard- Hayden Christiansen
Kahlen- Rhona Mitra

message 19: by Brianna (new)

Brianna | 6 comments I can see Hayden Christensen for Richard, but no one except Bridget Regan for Kahlan. Tabrett Bethell was an excellent Cara in the series.

message 20: by John (new)

John LeViness (jlawrence) | 5 comments LOL. Bridget Regan was such an obvious choice that I succumbed the rebel in me and picked Mitra. :)

message 21: by Neal (new)

Neal Simmons | 4 comments Alexandra Daddario (Annabeth) or Gemma Arterton could both pull off Kahlan better than Rhona Mitra

message 22: by AndrewP (new)

AndrewP (andrewca) | 67 comments How about Monika Schnarre as Nicci? She was the sorceress on the beastmaster TV series.

Here's a link with a couple of pics.

message 23: by Rich (new)

Rich | 1 comments Richard needs to be much bigger....but not a muscle head....I'd say like Ben affleck if he got into good shape...nicci = Scarlett Johansen...Kahlan is the toughest to me...she needs to be beautiful but not small... Maybe a Katherine zeta jones type build

message 24: by Joel (new)

Joel | 15 comments Darken Rahl: Jason Issacs

Jagang: Mickey Rourke

Cara: Chalize Theron

Zed: Bruce Spence

Verna: Kate Beckinsale

Nicci: Scarlet Johanson (agree with Rich)

Chandalen: Taylor Lautner

Richard: Paul Wesley

Kahlan: Olivia Wilde

Shota: Raelee Hill

Denna: Gwyneth Paltrow

Chase: Hugh Jackman

Jensen: Bryce Dallas Howard

Adie: Jada Pinkett Smith

Prelate Ann: Judy Dench

Nathan: Donald Sutherland

These are my basic thoughts about main actor/actress roles if their ever were to be a movie made with in the next few years.

message 25: by Herbert (new)

Herbert (novelnemisus) | 75 comments I think of Nicci as Amber Benson, when she had long
blonde hair.

Mila Jovovich as Kahlen.

Steven Segal as Chase.

The man, Bruce, who played Zedd should have played

Nathan. Clint Eastwood as Zedd.

Annasophia Robb as Halley, Mord Sith.

The girl whom played Annabeth as, Berdine, Mord Sith.

Natasha Heinstridge as nyda, Mord Sith.

Allison Hannagan as Denna, when Allison had longer hair adding a bit of brown hair die. Mord Sith.

Ivana Milicivic as Raina, Mord Sith.

Summer Glau as Kahlan

Betty White as Anne

Kristen Southerland as Verna.

Christina Ricci as Pasha.

Felicia Day as Jenson.

Dalph Lungeren as Demmon Nass, pretty much because I want to watch him die.

Terry Goodkind as Jagang yes, Vin Diesle for stunts.

Jared Paddilecki as Richard.

Jensen Ackles as Micheal.

Mayer Streep as Addie.

Nathan Fillion as Darken Rhal. He would need a lot of work. Hair, accent and, body though.

There are others.

Pete (jaggededge03) | 35 comments Interesting thread here....

Bad suggestions:
Betty White as Anne.... maybe 10 years ago but shes past that time
Segal as Chase
Paul Wesley or Hayden Christiansen as Richard (does not match the book description at all)
Allison Hannagan as Denna (she would be a better Berdine due to her bubbly demeanor)

Good Suggestions:
Jared Paddilecki or Henry Cavill as Richard
Meryl Streep as Addie
Bruce Spence as Nathan (height better fits nathan than zedd)
Judy Dench as Ann
Olivia Wilde or Mila Jovovich as Kahlan (they both have the eyes for the part)
Kiera Knightly as Nicci (the right black dress and push up bra make her perfect)
Chalize Theron as Cara

I am going to do some of my own looking but it was definitely a good start just looking through all your suggestions

message 27: by Herbert (new)

Herbert (novelnemisus) | 75 comments Wait a sec. Why are we talking about a film adaptation? It would not work, I believe we can all agree with this fact. If the same people whom are behind the Game Of Thrones project were behind this novel to screen adaptation it would be a lot better. Hell we could even Peter Dinklage as Samuel.
I think that Amber Benson and, Allison Hannagan would be great as Berdene and, Raina, Ali being Berdene. I am sticking by my Summer Glau pick as Kahlan and, my Jared and, Jenson picks as Micheal and, Richard, Jared being the latter.

However, this project would need to be an H B O series not a film and, not the butt rape tragedy that was the t v series. I would love to see Peter Jackson in on this project also, as he is great when it comes to large scale battles something G O T lacks aside from season ep 9. The added budget would not hurt anything either.

Please tell me what you think Pete. god it's Peter palooza over here! (:

message 28: by Herbert (new)

Herbert (novelnemisus) | 75 comments P.S Ian McKellen would be decent I think as Zedd.

message 29: by Pete (new)

Pete (jaggededge03) | 35 comments agreed that an HBO series would do the books much more justice than movies.

I thought about Ian as well but everyone would always be calling him Gandalf and it would detract from Zedd's character.

I think Jared is a GREAT call for Richard. He has a good height and build as well as looks good with a beard (must have for Stone of Tears). However, I am still not sold on Summer Glau at all. You will have to do some major hair work not to mention make up and colored contacts. She just doesn't fit the image of the Confessor. When i look at pictures of her, I can't imagine her as the most feared and respected woman in all of the Midlands.

message 30: by Herbert (new)

Herbert (novelnemisus) | 75 comments No on Summer than, but she can fight so perhaps a Mord Sith whom dies and, was just an extra anyway?

How bout Jenson Ackles as Micheal and, Amber Benson and, Allison Hanngan as Raina and, Baredene respectively.

Your right actually about the Ian thing, I had not thought of that. How bout Tony Head as Zedd instead. He made a great Watcher and, Uther.

message 31: by Pete (new)

Pete (jaggededge03) | 35 comments Jenson is pretty good and maybe more so than I originally thought because he doesnt have the hate"able" look too him. I think of a young mid 20s CEO type for micheal and Jenson fits that decently.

Amber and Allison are good mord sith. I always thought that Berdine was a bit more busty than either of these ladies but i am not sure. I would have to go back to Blood of the Fold and look at her first description. They both have the personality to pull of the Mord Sith role though.

I like the Tony Head pick. What i would really like is Bruce Spence's personality in Anthony Hopkins body for Zedd and Anthony Hopkins personality in Spence's body for Nathan.

message 32: by Pete (new)

Pete (jaggededge03) | 35 comments Zedd - Jeremy Irons

Darken Rahl - Christopher Lambert (with a little blonde hair dye he could it pull off)

Verna - Bridgette Wilson-Sampras (still really good looking but is capable of the hard, stern face)

message 33: by Herbert (new)

Herbert (novelnemisus) | 75 comments That all seems to fit. I have to remind myself what we have to work with here. There are just so damn many! Hah! I just thought. Miley Cyrus would be a great Sister of the dark, I just want to see her die.

As for Berdene being more busty, a push up bra works wonders.

message 34: by Pete (new)

Pete (jaggededge03) | 35 comments A good theme song for the movie would be "Hero" by Skillet

message 35: by Herbert (new)

Herbert (novelnemisus) | 75 comments Oh I agree! Like I said it would be better as an H B O series this way, in season 4 book 4, when Raina dies with Reggie in her hand, due to the plague, there could be "Comatose playing softly in the backround as Berdene looses it.

Go to Dark Willow Comatose and, you will see what I mean. On youtube. That video is for Tara and, Willow but, it works if we are saying the same Actresses are going to be Beredene and, Raina.

Kristine | 2 comments Yes Milla! I also agree with Henry Cavill. Support SOT on The IF List so we can make a movie happen: http://iflist.com/stories/swordoftruth#

message 37: by Willow (last edited Feb 06, 2015 12:13PM) (new)

Willow Bledsoe | 3 comments I tried watching the tv show, but having read the books years before, I just couldn't. I got about 15 min into the first episode and turned it off. So, I don't know about the actors that are in it.

However, I think Olivia Wilde would be a perfect Kahlan :)

Jeff Bridges as Zedd. He's not the spindly, skinny that I picture Zedd, but I think he's got the look and the acting.

Jennifer Lawrence as Nicci...because she's a fantastic actress and she's got the curves and the attitude.

Only in theory, any movie adaptation would be terrible and should never actually be considered.

message 38: by Joel (new)

Joel | 15 comments The series had their own writers to create the tv show. The books were far from.. So don't bother watching the show.. It's a waste of time. If Goodkind could make an HBO like GOT things might look up. The series contains graphic violence and nudity. I say it's hopeless if a mainstream broadcasting company takes over, as did Fox last decade.
