Robin (robinsullivan) | 629 comments What do people think about him and what he will do now that he is out of prison. Obviously we've not seen the last of him but ultimately will it be good or bad that he was released?

message 2: by Sandi (new)

Sandi (sandikal) I don't think we really know enough about him to know what his effect will be. It all depends on whether he's telling the truth about why he was locked up or if the official story is correct.

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 916 comments I think it would be cool if he turned out evil as all hell......but then retire to a country estate

ROFL!!!

Michel B. (michelbonnell) One of my two favorite characters in the book. LOVED the fact that he took off to do his thing, without extemporizing about it. Naturally, I wanted more but was overjoyed that he didn't come back as the Deus ex machina to save all our heroes. When you think of it, how logical would it be for a super-wiz to serve an ordinary mortal or how likely would it be that the one's goals would match the others?

Not really sure if I care whether he's good or bad. Just want to go along for the ride. Maybe I'm hoping it's not a cliché Gandalf-like-super-good-wizard or super-villain-Voldemort-type character. Doesn't everything have it's good/bad sides?

Libby | 242 comments I liked that he is clearly very important but little is revealed about him in TCC. No big, bad guy monologue. Looking forward to whatever he does.

message 8: by Leslie Ann (new)

Leslie Ann (leslieann) | 224 comments Of all the characters, this one intrigued me the most. I think he will turn out to be Michael's meditation on the nature of what is perceived to be 'good' and what is perceived to be 'evil'. He clearly has his own agenda and whether that agenda bodes well or ill for the world of Elan in general will depend on what each character's AND reader's definitions of those words is.

I suspect Esrahaddon is a sociopath. It doesn't neccessarily mean he will do anything horrible, though. It remains to be seen, though I'm leaning toward horrible at this point.

colleen the convivial curmudgeon (blackrose13) Like many others, I'm also hoping that he's going to be the grey character. Maybe he'll fight the "right" battles, but for the "wrong" reasons. Something of that sort. Perhaps sometimes he will be fighting with 'the heroes' and sometimes against them... who's always on the side of whoever is going his way.

I would almost venture to say that Esra has a dark side. He will very much be a grey character--nothing is black or white. He uses people to his own ends; he could save the world from the Church or be the catalyst in its destruction and a world war of Elan. Who's to say for sure? He definitely does not fall to either extreme of the spectrum of good and evil. I say "moderate."
