SciFi and Fantasy Book Club discussion

I just joined. It looks like I've read about 45 of the books currently listed on the group list.

I've read 46. I'm just looking at those I've rated.

I've read 16! That must be the lowest number in here, lol.

Mine is lower. :) And I saw lower numbers earlier in the thread. So far I think I’ve only read 12. It’s a pretty low number! However, of the ones I have read, I’ve usually also read the sequels if that counts for anything...

Here are the ones from this group’s list that I’ve read:
* Magician (Plus every other book Feist had written prior to the year 2000 or so.)
* Assassin's Apprentice (Plus both sequels, and also the Tawny Man trilogy.)
* Ship of Magic (Plus both sequels.)
* Spin (Plus both sequels.)
* Mistborn: The Final Empire (Plus both sequels in the original trilogy. I’ll read the next trilogy when it’s finished.)
* The Fellowship of the Ring (Plus both sequels and of course The Hobbit.)
* A Game of Thrones
* A Clash of Kings (And then I realized I was going to be really annoyed if I kept reading because the series wouldn’t be finished for years, so I stopped here. I’ll read the whole series from the beginning if/when the author ever finishes it.)
* War for the Oaks
* Ender's Game (Plus a couple of the related books.)
* Neverwhere
* Wool Omnibus (Silo, #1) (Just finished last night, and downloaded the next omnibus in the series (Shift Omnibus Edition (Silo, #2))straight away!)

25 out of 158. The rest don't appeal to me and I won't be reading them.

I started out on 16 and I've just finished my 51st! It's a great bookshelf.

When do you guys add new books at the end of the month? I get 2 free adds to my total from your picks this month since I read both last year :-P

Nice when that happens! More time to catch up on some of the unread ones...

I guess the mods know for sure but it always seems like they get added to the group bookshelf as "currently reading" as soon as the month starts when they are read.

Right... I am extremely embarrassed to say that I've only read 12 that is on the list. But, it is a great list, so my count should increase! :]

If my previous count was right (not sure, my scan was fast), I'm +7 on that, so, 19 (counting the Fairy Tales as done). Lots of fun reading left to discover! ^_^

Usually after we've read them so middle of the month-ish. I've read both of this months books already so I'll add them now. I need someone to vote for The Last Unicorn because I haven't read it and it's showing on my count :P

Ah, and your count might be one higher than you think because Little Big by John Crowley keeps disappearing off the listopia list. I've just added it again, but I have no reason to believe it won't do a *poof* again. The bookshelf total is 157 books at present.

Looks like I'm at 34 now. Pretty respectable considering I never actually read with you guys :)

That is indeed pretty respectable :) Good job! It's looking like next months books are likely to be Legend and The Island of Dr. Moreau. So if you've read either you get more freebies, otherwise you could join us if either are are your to-read shelf.

Sadly nope. Right now I'm busy with Words of Radiance with my own group and then I'll probably be jumping into Hollow World. Want to pick those for April instead so I can pad my numbers again? ^_^

Those are for April! :) I'm so dying to get to Words of Radiance, but I can't read it on the side of my challenge for this year so I'm going to have to wait. I'm sure it's awesome, no need to rub it in :P

Just finished with "Words of Radiance" went straight into Favorites shelf and 5 stars. (Just rubbing it in a little) Now finally after joining group reading a suggested novel. "Ancillary Justice" then on to attack the bookshelf and get my read number over 50.

I just joined this group so I'm going to use that as my excuse for only reading 8 of the books on the list.

I only joined last month, I think, or in January... But it's amazing the number of books on your shelf that I've already read. Going down your list from top to bottom:

04. Across the Nightingale Floor (am going to reread this at some point soon).
05. A Clash of Kings
06. Foundation (am planning to reread as I read it so long ago that I can't remember it!)
07. American Gods
08. The Sandman, Vol. 1: Preludes and Nocturnes (am planning to reread this one soon, too, but this edition)
09. Perdido Street Station (finished this one in January!)
10. Assassin's Apprentice
11. The Time Machine
12. The Fellowship of the Ring
13. Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch
14. Dragonflight (was really into these as a teen)
15. The Colour of Magic
16. A Game of Thrones
17. Neverwhere

Couple of reads and a free add, though still a fairly recent read, has now taken me up to 72.
Might get stuck there for a while I'm afraid.

That is indeed awesome :) I'm on 54 now and still on track to get to 100 by the end of the year. I've read so many great books this year because of our challenge. It really is a great bookshelf.

Wow, that is good.

Looking at the group's bookshelf, I noticed only three of our books are not categorized as sci-fi or fantasy:

Ready Player One
The City and the City
John Dies at the End

These were all member's choice, back when we did those, which is probably why - does anyone mind if I add them to the sci-fi/fantasy shelf, as appropriate? Ready Player One is obviously sci-fi, The City and the City could be either, but it was nominated for our sci-fi poll in Oct 2011. John Dies at the End I can't quite figure out, since it seems to be mainly horror.

You shouldn't be able to but I will. John Dies at the End looks like a mix but more fantasy so I'll mark it as that.

My math is bad at the moment but I believe I'm up to 143 read.

20, and partway on 2 more (Clash of Kings around pg 550, and Wool I read just the first part so far), before joining the group.

Great list, and many current and future To Reads are on there. The Name of the Wind is going to be soon, but not this month... not with Clash of Kings ongoing and too much else to get written and done.

I am new here, but of those on your list, I have read 53 of them. 9 more are on the back burner, the others I have no interest in...no offense, just different tastes.

I've only read 11 so far but I've just gone and checked out 9 more from the library.

Sometimes I think I'll never get caught up with this list.

Just finished Hyperion which puts me at an even 60! :) Only 40 to go by the end of the year to make my challenge goal :P

I've just joined and I've read 15 books of the list, 17 are in my TBR list.

I'm new here.Have read 19 of the club books. Haven't counted TBR ones.

I just double checked and I'm at 25 now, so I must have miscounted as well as read some. I have to say that I'll likely be reading the past list quicker than the upcoming ones, since there's so many on my TBR list.

I've read 29 so far. Most of them before joining the group.

Going through that list made me realize I still have TONS of books to read! I've only read 17 and have lots in my TR list.
