Channasl | 138 comments Hi all, I just finished re-reading Boaz Brown by Michelle Stimpson and I realized that I can relate to the main character LaShondra Smith.Somethings good somethings not so good. My question to the group is have you notice that you have some characteristics of a character you have read about and did it make you think? I need to do better or I am better than I thought!

I love when I can relate to a character. I read a book a week or so ago, and I found that strangely, I could identify very strongly with the character in her absolute love of books and how books were a way to deal with rough times and experiences in her life. Among Others

Paganalexandria | 4065 comments I just finished The Mighty Storm (The Storm, #1) by Samantha Towle (non-IR) and the way the heroine handled relationships inter-lapping in way reminiscent of a not so proud moment in my own past. Normally I wouldn't like this character but something about it rang so "real life situation". Who would think to find that in rock star romance?

Yeah, it can be painful when you see too much of yourself in a character. But as you said, it's a learning experience, and you definitely can gain both some catharsis and feel empathy as you read about this character who mirrors your life in some profound way.

Paganalexandria | 4065 comments One of my pet peeves is a heroine that forgives just anything done to her for "love". I think mainly because it bugs me sometimes when I'm too nice or forgiving to people who don't deserve it. When I read it or see it in other people it drives me batty.

I have to say, in some ways I related to Ashleigh's character in Beast by Pepper Pace , and it made me sort of sad, because she was sad for a good portion of the book. I don't want to give away anything to anyone who hasn't read it yet, but in the end, I didn't think she was a bad character to relate to.
