Carl Lee (carllee2850) | 42 comments I ran across a thread where Authors complained / vented about the results of promoting their work. (boy that’s fun to do, and I wanted to jump on the bandwagon, though I resisted)

No matter where promoting is done on the internet, it’s a tough road to hoe.

There is a reason…

Studies show Advertisers know it takes three or more times getting the same info in front of you before you even begin to think about buying their product, (and, this is important here) Those three times, or more, (getting this into your head) has to happen within a given timeframe before you, the consumer, begin to respond.

So, your promoting efforts need to get in front of someone more than once. More then twice, and… (boy it’s a tough road to hoe on the internet)

And even the Goodreads giveaways didn’t escape the venting in that thread.

The birth of an idea…! (Promise, I wasn’t taking a shower and didn’t have to fart. This, though, is just for the GR giveaways)

In the giveaways, the consumer only sees each of our giveaways once and only for a brief moment, (however long it takes to click enter, add their address and click the I have read…yeah, yeah, yeah, before they move on the next title.)

Now, don’t get me wrong, when I first saw that GR did giveaways and that there was decent participation, I’m thinking, “What a great idea, EXPOSURE.” And I’m off to the feeding frenzy signing up post hast.

Then, after observing the variation of entrants per title, I’m thinking most participants are actually reading the blurbs too. So I edited mine, (took me out of the giveaway, darn, wish I hadn’t done that. Thought of something else, edited again, thought of something else, edited again…. Lord, I’m only getting this one chance! Help...I need three or more within a given timeframe)

Okay, I added this during one of my edits on my giveaway:

Leave on your bookshelf, as a reminder to read. Then after the drawing, become a winner yourself by supporting the literary arts. Makes me a winner then too

The concept: If every giveaway on GR had something to the effect of, “Support the literary arts” “Make us winners too”

You get the idea here. We’re Authors, you guys can plagiarize it to death. But the thrust needs to be the same: “Support the literary arts” “Make us winners too”

The residual effect down the road if/when there’s a lot of Author participation should be tremendous and help make us all winners.

If you believe this is a practical idea to promote us Authors on the giveaways, drop this link onto post wherever you go. Then down the road─support the literary arts and make us winners too─gets in front of each reader way more than three times and all within moments of moving onto the next title.

In this great big internet thingy, this is where you find my small blurb, hopefully more than three times, on GR giveaways: http://www.goodreads.com/giveaway/sho... "A Stone's Throw Away, by Carl Lee

Anyone wishing to connect, I’m willing to accept. (that was one of my edits too, though no takers yet)
