I finished this one. I'm not sure what to say about it. I read it quickly, Violet and her mom had some hilarious one-liners that had me laughing out loud, but......the story was ridiculous for me in so many ways. But it entertained me, I didn't take it at all seriously, so I will just say that it was cute and enjoyable.

So I have recommended two books to you so far that have totally not lived up to my expectations or hype or ratings here on GR. I'm sorry! I hope that if you choose any others from my list to you that you love them!

When you are done we can chat about the last 25% of this book and why it went in such weird directions- for several of the characters.

Take your time, no rush. Whenever you get done we can chat :)

What the heck was up with Lauren's story line?? I didn't guess who it was actually, but after the reveal I get it. But really, no further explanation? She's still going to Stanford and life resumes as usual for her? That is so unrealistic.

And I totally agree about Zane's ridiculous story line. Really, no one at the Taco place, her friends, Violet herself recognized his voice? His face?

And Bill was a big zero. Totally didn't get that. And yes, what was up with her Mom? Did she know about Zane? And didn't she see what was going on with those two right in front of her face?

Also, and I will put this one in a spoiler just in case someone reads this thread and gets mad...even though spoilers allowed here....

(view spoiler)[ Violet is 18 and engaged to a rock star who is about 21?? And she is going to put off college for 'awhile' and just write while touring with him? And they are going to get married very soon?? If this was my daughter I would be having a heart attack. Not the outcome I would have thought the author should have gone with. Between Lauren's poor handling of her storyline and total lack of consequences for her, and Violet's very premature engagement, I am kind of annoyed at the author. I know it's not a realistic story, but lots of teens will read this book. At least be responsible and make Lauren's story more realistic and maybe have an epilogue that is several years down the road and Violet and Zane are still dating, she has graduated college, etc. The girl barely knows who she is yet and she is going to tour with him? Yuck! (hide spoiler)]

And a different girl in his bed every night for a week? That was gross. I don't even want to think of how many there were before that!
