Last round? No this is my first one joining in...JoLene will take the lead as Captain once I hear from her, but I was really impatient and wanted to get everything started. :)

message 12: by Carrie (new)

Carrie (icanhasbooks) | 105 comments Ah okay.

My guess we will start hearing from more people today, at least I hope.

message 14: by Barbara ★ (new)

Barbara ★ Hi ladies. I'm calling my shelf tower team mauvelous because I'm really creative. :)

message 15: by Barbara ★ (new)

Barbara ★ There are so many links. Is this were we post our books and ask questions? Or should that be done elsewhere?

message 16: by Hina (new)

Hina (hinaj) | 884 comments Barbara, this is where most of our general chat is going to be. One of the links shows, all of us participating in our team, and the tracker for the books, while the other one just to take us to the page with our official page, but I am planning to keep up with both, so you can use either/or. I just wanted some short links so I don't have to search and look for the threads. Did that help?

You can use the "sister group" for a while, if it is easier over there. Then come back here. Up to you all.

I sent "friend requests" (FRs) to Valerie & Evil Twin One/Ange. I can't invite them to join the "sister group" unless they are my friend.

I accepted requests from jingles either late last night or very early this morning - I can't remember which.

message 20: by JoLene (new)

JoLene (trvl2mtns) | 705 comments Hello all, this is JoLene -- one of the Captains, along with Hina. thanks for getting things started. I did volunteer with the caveat that I was traveling from April 12-29 in Europe and of course, things got started on the 12th. Today is my first day with Internet access.

I would say to use this thread for general chat, but use the Captain's chat for questions. Hina and I will maintain the spreadsheet so you will not need to do anything but take your books with your shelves.

I noticed that I seem to be the slow reader in the group. However, I just discovered audio books and so my pace is a lot higher and I might need to adjust my yearly goal.

Yes. I was just wondering since in the first round, our team did lots of mini challenges and it would be hard to keep track of something like that if people are posting all over the place.

Sounds good.

Hina (hinaj) | 884 comments Barbara,

I will create another one in the other thread, for a mini challenge, I just haven't created one yet since we don't have everyone involved yet. But I want to get some feedback on mini challenges we can do.

How to "Refresh" a Member's Total or Add a Comment to Their "view books" Screen:

We are using ♥Robin♥ on Atomic Tangerine for this example:

• Scroll down to your friends, who are listed first, or down futher to "community."
• Click on either the percent numbers or the words "view books" (red arrow)
• You can enter a comment on this screen (blue arrow), if you desire, or wait for the next one.

• On this screen you can see her total books jumped from 2 to 4.

• If you click on her name (blue arrow), it will hyperlink to her Profile page.

• Pink arrow shows comments by other members.

• If you hit the back arrow to go back to the community page, you'll see she is back to 2 books; just refresh the page.

• The Total goal for all participants may take anywhere from 15 - 30 minutes.

• The cache usually updates every night sometime after 9 p.m. PST.

message 26: by jingles (new)

jingles Hi Team Mauvelous! I'm checking in. I've been out of town this weekend, and was not online last night, so I apologize for my delay.

My shelf name for Round II will be "nbrc mauvelous". My yearly goal is set at 100 books.

I hope I've done everything right. If not, please let me know.

:)

Team Assignments - Master Copy

New feature coming: link to member's "view books" screen. Blue font indicated there is a hyperlink, as member joined sucessfully; black indicated no hyperlink, as member has not yet done so.

Remember, you can hyperlink to member's Profile from that screen.

TEAM UPDATES

If you don't want to go from challenge to challenge but still want to know the other teams' results we set a Teams Sunday Update Summary Spreadsheet - Who is in the lead?

Happy Readings!

message 31: by JoLene (new)

JoLene (trvl2mtns) | 705 comments As a reminder, anything that you finished on April 12 or later counts towards the new challenge so you need to tag it with your new shelf. If you were under a rock like me, I didn't realize Tower Team I had finished :-)

message 32: by Hina (new)

Hina (hinaj) | 884 comments Not bad Team Mauvelous - we are 12 books in according to my count!!

message 33: by Hina (new)

Hina (hinaj) | 884 comments Good morning everyone!! How's it going?

message 34: by Barbara ★ (new)

Barbara ★ I just finished Frost Burned (Mercy Thompson, #7) by Patricia Briggs which was very good - action from start to finish.

message 35: by JoLene (new)

JoLene (trvl2mtns) | 705 comments I haven't had much time for reading on my vacation since I'm only reading at bed time and not listening to audio books, which I do a lot during the day. My husband doesn't like it when I'm supposed to be spending vacation time with him :-)

Lol JoLene, after vacation would be soon enough.

Hina (hinaj) | 884 comments Good Morning team,

New News: We have a new member joining us. We should hear from her soon enough since the mods announced it yesterday.

I hope everyone is having fun reading for this challenge!!

message 38: by Carrie (new)

Carrie (icanhasbooks) | 105 comments I should be done my book today sometime, so we will have another one to add to the numbers. :)

YAY!!

message 40: by jingles (new)

jingles I just finished my first book that counts towards this challenge - B is for Burglar by Sue Grafton.

I've been out of touch and not able to read as much as usual the during the last week or so.

Hopefully that will change this week.

How is everyone else doing?

JoLene, I hope you are having a wonderful vacation. It sounds very exciting!

message 41: by JoLene (new)

JoLene (trvl2mtns) | 705 comments I promise that I'm reading......unfortunately I'm reading A Storm of Swords (A Song of Ice and Fire, #3) by George R.R. Martin so it's taking me a while :-)

message 42: by Barbara ★ (last edited Apr 19, 2013 05:46AM) (new)

Barbara ★ I'm reading that too JoLene as a buddy read so it is taking longer than it should. I'm about halfway done with it. I've been reading it at work and reading something else (something I can hopefully finish in a day or so) at home.

That being said, I finished Angelopolis by Danielle Trussoni which was rather disappointing.

message 43: by jingles (last edited Apr 19, 2013 06:36AM) (new)

jingles I have a question. I finally finished Gone With the Wind yesterday, which I started on April 8th (before the currently challenge start date). I read/listened to over half of it after the April 12th start date. My question is, can I count it towards this challenge, since over half of it was done after the challenge start date? Or would I not be able to count it?

On another note, I finished A Bend in the Road this morning, which should count. I should be getting back on track shortly, and be able to do more reading.

message 44: by Hina (new)

Hina (hinaj) | 884 comments Jingles, you can count the books as long as you finished reading on or after April 12th.

message 45: by Hina (new)

Hina (hinaj) | 884 comments Happy Friday Everybody

I hope your week has been going better than mine, but this has been one of those weeks, I knew I should have just spend in bed reading and not going out at all.

Anyone read a good book lately?

I have been reading Laurann Dohner's New Species series and it is awesome!

I have Storm of Swords on my tbr, I would really like to hear how that one is going.

message 46: by jingles (new)

jingles Thanks, Hina.

I've been reading/listening to the most wonderful books the last couple of weeks - Gone with the Wind.

This will definitely go on my all-time favorites list.

Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell

The mods seem awful quiet lately. Do you think they are busy reading?
Find out what they have been up to HERE

message 48: by JoLene (new)

JoLene (trvl2mtns) | 705 comments I am really enjoying A Storm of Swords; it's definitely action-packed. I usually have been reading it along with 2 or 3 other things, but on the trip I've been focusing on it which is nice. I only have about 125 pages left :-)

Gone With the Wind is on my TBR pile for this year too. I had decided at the beginning of the year to try to read some of the chunksters on my TBR list. Not good for these team challenges, but since I've actually started listening to audio books as well, it hasn't fallen me too much.

message 49: by Hina (new)

Hina (hinaj) | 884 comments So Barbara and probably me will be participating in the Read-a-thon. If you need more information, check out Message 47. Is anyone else interested?
