Oh yeah, I forgot about the cloud feature. Thanks! And thanks for letting us know about Lisarenee.

Such a wonderful read. :)

Cool Text: Logo and Graphics Generator

If you were 'tagging' books as read last night, please make sure they are on your designated Tower Teams Reading Challenge shelf. Since Alice (the girl in the chair that appears when the system is over capacity) kept appearing, we are finding a lot of books didn't get 'tagged.'

The best way is to compare your main GRs challenge (if you've joined) with your "view books" page of your Team's Home Page Challenge.

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments OK, we need to get the #9 idea.

So far we have the sugestions:

- a Behind Enemy Lines where we read from an "enemy's" shelf
- read books where the main character (or more, if there are a few prominent characters) shares a name with anyone in the TTC Round 2

I also like the mango tango's idea of a series train, however, the theme for the challenge is all about us in 9 steps, so why not using Baroness Blue suggestion read books where the main character (or more, if there are a few prominent characters) shares a name with anyone in the TTC Round 2 but adapting it (in a doable way) to our team. That means:

Read a book where authors first or last name starts with the same letter as our team members.
Example: Touch of Frost by Jennifer Estep uses Jex's "J"

Our active team members are:
Jex
Mod Account
Emy
Sonia
Jessica (W)
Lisa Kay
Lisarenee
Sarah S
Lindy

So we'll have 2 "J", 3 "L", 2 "S", 1 "E" and 1"M"

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments Nice.

I'll assemble all our ideas and try to put together our reading genres and stuff. And then we can discuss if is good to go or not.

message 608: by Baroness Blue (new)

Baroness Blue | 70 comments Well, how do you like that, one of my suggestions fit the "all about us" theme that I forgot you were trying to follow, ha!

I like how you've amended it to fit your team, Sonia, well done!

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments As promise, here's our August "Mods take the month off" Challenge

~All About Us In 9 Steps~

Duration: August 2013

Rules & How to play:
#1.We have 9 members so we must read 9 books for each step for a total of 81 books, only 75 are required to finish the challenge

#2.Any book read by a team member during August for the Round II challenge is eligible for fitting one of the steps

#3.Since we have different reading speeds a step can be done by one member's books only or by all members, it's up to the team to fit the books the best way they can

#4.The same book can be used as many times as read by team members

Steps:
#1.Our team's name is CADET BLUE, a spell-it-out step.

#2.Our team's color is BLUE - read a book with a predominant blue cover.

#3.Our team's read-a-thon theme was Books in Uniform. We're going to repeat it.

#4.Our team has excellent taste in books. We're going to "steal" from each other books read during the TTRC round II.

#5.Our team reads a great variety of books. We're going to pick a book from every member favorite genre.

Genres:(view spoiler)

#6.Our team is from all around the globe. We're going to read books set in the city, state or country of a team member (currently living, have lived or were born). Or if the book turned into a movie or TV series we can use the place of filming.

Example:Lisbon was the chosen place for filming the TV series Gulliver's Travels and Sonia's birthplace.

Locations:(view spoiler)

#7.We were the initial "mod" team. Read a current BOM or a past one you always wanted to but never had the time.

#8.Our team captains (the former two and the new one) love any excuse to post pictures - choose a book by its cover - a cover you like, a cover you hate, a cover that doesn't fit the content, a bright cover, etc.

#9.Ours is a team of 9. Read a book where authors first or last name starts with the same letter as our team members' name.

Example: Touch of Frost by Jennifer Estep uses Jex's "J"

According to the names under the (view spoiler) we'll have 3 "J", 3 "L", 2 "S" and 1 "E"

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments Notes about #5:
1) For the members who didn't add their favorite genre, it was chosen either using the "cloud" feature or browsing their top 2 read authors.
2) Since the Mod account complies all books read on NRBC, genre was set as Fiction - a generic one.
3) I didn't add the rule that we have to choose from another's member genre. We could try to do that, but I preferred to let it open in order to be able to use any book read by team members.
4) If anyone wants to change the genre, we'll need to know today to send the challenge for approval.

Lisa Kay you and Lisarenee had the same favorite genre (according to the cloud). I let them stay that way since the step is pick a book from every member favorite genre.

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 15159 comments Looks great, Sonia!

So, should we list cities, states, countries we've lived in? If so:
Orange, Texas
Newport, Rhode Island
Los Angeles, California
San Jose, California

message 619: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments Thanks Lisa Kay.

Yes, we'll need those to add to the reserved spot on the thread Baroness Blue has created for our challenge.

Mine are:
Lisboa, Portugal
Ciudad Bolívar, Venezuela

The profile says "Female , The United States"

message 635: by Lisa Kay (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 15159 comments Yes, but the very first book posted to the NBRC shelves was Sarah's Key by Tatiana de Rosnay set in Paris, France.

message 636: by Baroness Blue (new)

Baroness Blue | 70 comments The Mod account is listed as "female: The United States" -- you could make it a sort of free space. Read a book that takes place anywhere in the U. S.?

Or you could assign each of the 50 states a number, based on alphabetical order by state name, then roll a virtual die and whatever number shows, that's the state the mod acct is from? I'd be happy to do that one for you if you like that option.

Captain Cupcake | 628 comments Lisa Kay wrote: "Where were you born, CC? Where do you live now? In a bakery somewhere in a far-off land?"

You know I can't say where my bakery is! It would be a nightmare.

*shudders at the thought that location of the bakery becomes known to players*

I was born in the hospital and now I live in one big house. ☺

message 648: by Baroness Blue (new)

Baroness Blue | 70 comments I mentioned that we could roll a virtual die to figure out which state the mod acct is from but then I remembered dice only have 6 pips so there's no accurate way to roll without a 50-side die. Highest I have at home is 20-sided.

So... you could list the mod account as being from France, going by LK's post about the first book posted by the mods.

Or, allow it to be any of the 50 states?

Or, other ideas?
