Since the steps allows city, state or country, born or living I'd say both: United States (any city or state) and Paris, France :o)

That's what I was thinking.

Or she could just replace Lisarenee. I think LR is pretty busy.

Jessica, since you are new to the team and I'm not sure how much of the tower team challenge you know, you may feel a bit lost.
In addition to our reading, the mods set a challenge a month where we can win book points advantage (BAP) that will count as books read for our total - yes, I know, crazy. Who would think of something like that?
For August, they decided to "take the month off" and the teams had to come out with their own challenge to win the BAP's. On the post below you can see the link to our challenge. You arrived to the team just when we were finishing it. Is not mandatory, but we though to change it a little to include you.
Anything we can help with, just let us know.

I also added the locations to step #6.
Major changes: We now have historical romance and historical fiction for step #5, and 3 "J" and no "M" for step #9.
Is it done? Anything we should add/change? Or can we submit it to mod approval?
Baroness Blue will you post it on the "AUGUST Challenge for Book Advantage Points: Created by Teams" thread, or do you want me to do it because of the formatting? Either is fine by me. Putting the ideas on paper is the fun part (oh and reading too) and I was able to do those :)

If anyone is curious about Eastbourne, being a small coastal town in England, Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging was filmed here, as was part of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. (The Quidditch World Cup was filmed at Beachy Head, which is part of Eastbourne. :))
Aside from that, if you're going to use my location, I vote find a book set in England! :P

I think a re-read of HP is in order. Oh wait, I already was planning on participate on the HP read and watch :o)
Plus, we can also use the author's name for all the J's on step #9
*giggles*

For each letter read books with titles (only the first or starting word will count), series names, authors (both first or last names), character (first or last name), that begin with letters that correspond to letter of the phrase or term you choose. You may ignore the indefinite and definite articles (a, an, the, etc.)
So, using Cold Days by Jim Butcher as an example for spelling CADET BLUE, we can use it as a "C" (title:Cold Days), "B" (author's last name: Butcher) , "T" (series name: The Dresden Files) and "D" (Character's name: Harry Dresden or series name: Dresden Files ignoring the "The")
Lisa Kay, can we use any book character or has to be the MC?

Oh, good question, Sonia. I was thinking MC, but maybe one with more than one scene? What do you think?

So for Thursday in Uniform we have Maverick and Goose

You've lost that lovin' feeling,
Whoa, that lovin' feeling,
You've lost that lovin' feeling,
Now it's gone...gone...gone...wooooooh.
I had 13 when I first saw Top Gun.. it was one of my teenager movies, OK, don't judge me!

Hey, it was a good movie. LOL!

I think a major character could be allowed, or one that plays an important part. So for instance in Dead Until Dark, we could have Sookie, Bill, Sam, Eric or Pam but not Arleen or the other vamps that appear only for a few scenes.

Hey, it was a good movie. LOL!"
Specially the volleyball part *giggles*
Who am I kidding, I loved the flight scenes and Tom Cruise ridding that bike. I even consider going to military academy for a few years BUT I'm 4 cm shorter than the minimum height *sigh*

I already lined up my books... only the usual 5, but I'm still lacking a uniform book, but there is a new Kate Daniels coming. Swords and kick-ass gear can be consider uniform right? Hell, Curran will sure change to the beast form, so I'll use him as uniform!

Technically, not a uniform but who can forget that smile and those dimples from his Magnum, P. I. days?? I can't...my mom would never forgive me, haha! We used to watch Magnum together and she really had a thing for Tom Selleck.

LOL!! Don't forget that other scene and that other other scene...you know...all of them, haha!
Love that the movie inspired you to consider the military academy.

And I like your idea of a uniform. After all, I think Harry's duster in The Dresden Files is his investigative wizard's uniform, right?

Yes! Remember Teresa's Rule of Uniforms! It still counts here. ;)

One more week!! Seems so far away but I already know it'll be here faster than I would like. Going out of town for 3 days is going to eat up well...3 days, lol. I haven't done much reading in the past couple of days, thanks to headaches and sinuses (grr), now I'm not even sure how much reading I can do over the weekend. Going to visit family and they tend to frown on me reading the entire visit, haha.

It was that one and Officer and Gentleman. I couldn't decide between marines or pilots tough :o)
But, when it was time to go to college, I considered the navy officials school, because it only required a math exam while the air force required math and economics. But then I saw the 1,60m requirement on the physical exam... I was really mad. Took math as a major instead and even considered being a civil air controller for a while but statistics was more appealing by then.

Well...more appealing than something else, at least.

*giggles*
Yes, I like statistics. I also like making models and predictions and data analysis.
Too bad I'm not doing that for a living, but I also enjoy database programming so.. is my second love. Third, since first love is reserved for books :D

Math is probably my weakest subject. I just have no grasp beyond the basics, sadly. I think it's fascinating how it ties in with so many aspects of life and I like to watch that show, "Numbers", about the math professor who helps solve crimes. I rarely understand what he's going on about, but his analogies for the layman are fascinating to me.

My math area was Operational Research, that is mostly finding models and strategies to optimize resources (or minimize costs) using statistics and other math theories. It was develop during WW II for submarine placements (yes, it is used a LOT in the military area, see a pattern here?)
My less favorite areas are geometry and trigonometry.

I think trigonometry is easier than geometry.

I used to watch numbers too. I think sometimes they "mix" things that weren't supposed to be mixed but maybe that is because I pay more attention to the hot math teacher (mine weren't that eye candy) than to the variables he's speaking. See, there is nothing wrong with me after all.

I also liked the character played by the actor of Dear John (can't remember the name) the father.
And both brothers were hot :o)
I also liked the dynamics of the FBI team.

I like him, too, on Numbers (and other shows). Love how he would butt his nose into the cases to help his sons solve them!

He was? Well, it would probably help if I had seen the movie. LOL! I just looked at the movie credits and didn't see his name.

Yep, Dear John was a therapist, I believe...tv show from the 90s, if I recall correctly. I thought it was cute, though it didn't last long.
Dear John Wikipedia
Oops, I was wrong! He was not a therapist but he was in a self-help group, which is why I had therapist in my head. That is the show where I first saw Jere Burns act. His character was such a jerk! Kirk the Jerk, LOL. Loved him in that role.

Baroness Blue created two threads for the challenge in the sister group. I'm on my kindle, so giving links is not a practical task, I'll give them to you later. Basically, during August, for every book you read, you update your spot saying the book and which steps it can be matched.
Our team captain then will assemble all our books in order to complete the 9 books per category.
Did I make sense?
