I've already read Legend in the past and am happy to appear in the thread putting in my two cents. But my August is full and claimed. I won't be accepting new books before September.

Just updated the spreadsheet:

Cadet Blue has jumped from 386 books (which included the 5 chunksters I redeemed last week) to 457, woot! Christine joining the team helped with that!

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments @Nicole & Christine: I have 2 suggestions for Bitten (Women of the Otherworld, #1) by Kelley Armstrong buddy read date:

September 26th (Fall starts in September, right?) or October 6th.

Which one works better for you? If you have another suggestions, go ahead. I'm flexible with dates.

message 806: by Nicole (new)

Nicole Field (nicolefield) | 1778 comments I'm fine with either one of these dates, Sonia. Once we've decided, I might also post it in the buddy reads thread to see if anyone else wants to join us ;)

Hi! I am fine with both dates too. You two decide which it will be :)

message 808: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments informal, relaxed (divided in 3 days with some questions) or standard (50 pages a day with questions per section)?

I would say the relaxed one - is my favorite, but if you prefer one of the other too, just let me know, so I can work on the calendar.

message 809: by Christine (new)

Christine (inhalesbookslikepopcorn) | 1052 comments I am fine with "relaxed" :)

Christine (inhalesbookslikepopcorn) | 1052 comments I've read somewhere that the points we get for the length of books varies every month. What points do we get in August for what? I couldn't find it myself :(

message 812: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments I'll ask Lisa Kay and we'll get back at you.

A lot of teams do mini-challenges just for the team. Maybe this is one of those?

I know Mary did one of those at the beginning. She and Teresa, the former captains, were the only non mods on the team, the poor things, they really tried to get the team motivated, but we were a difficult crow *giggles*

message 814: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments Since we now have more "talkative" members, we could try something in those lines.

Any cool ideas? I can put my inner chip'n'dale (the little squirrels that made my brain function) to work and see what the outcome is :)

message 815: by Christine (new)

Christine (inhalesbookslikepopcorn) | 1052 comments no cool ideas yet ...

I have been thinking the whole day about rainbows, no clue why - maybe we could do a color challenge?

message 816: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments Rainbows...color challenge looks nice. Maybe a color chain? I'm going to dinner with a friend now, but will be back in a few hours

There's a new cupcake coming.
It's mad and it's bad.
Some of you will be humming.
Some of you will be glad.

It's called the "Triple Threat"
And as it's name implies...
While it isn't a sure bet,
It increases your book count size.

So, I have it posted in the 'planned' thread in the "sister group." However, are we going to have a 'finished'thread?

Baroness Blue | 70 comments Yes, Lisa Kay -- we have a August Finished thread.

Reminder: Please only post finished books in that thread. I know most (all?) of you realize this but just to be clear, since we have a couple of new people since our last challenge was finished.

Also: You know you post too many images when you make a habit of putting a / after the URL when setting up a named link! 90% of the time, I have to remove that darn thing after I realize my link isn't actually a link, hehe.

Oh, Sonia, one of my fondest memories of Brad Pitt is the scene in Thelma and Louise, where he shoves all the stuff off the desk or dresser or whatever it was (table?) before he ravages Gena Davis. *sigh* In honor of that scene:
Nice abs, Brad!

message 836: by Baroness Blue (new)

Baroness Blue | 70 comments Lisa Kay -- I'm curious (nosy)-- what does ODA in your little note next to the HP book mean? I don't know if it's just a note to yourself or if it applies to the August challenge but either way, my curiosity is peaked.

message 837: by Vi (new)

Vi | 1758 comments Maybe OverDrive Audio?

message 838: by Baroness Blue (new)

Baroness Blue | 70 comments Attention Team:

Cupcake Puzzles for the August Challenge are back! These puzzles are *not* required for the challenge, they are merely a fun little diversion from reading and the rewards are various sorts of cupcakes that act as a type of currency for bonus points. Slider puzzles are my personal nemesis, so anyone who feels like doing those, go for it. I would not dream of holding you back. In fact, I would sit in awe and admiration for every one that you complete.

I enjoy working out the puzzles to help this team earn cupcake bonuses but if anyone else wants to do puzzles, feel free! Some puzzles earn something a little extra if more than one person finishes them, while other puzzles only require one person to complete them. If you are confused about how the cupcakes and puzzles work, feel free to ask here or in the puzzle/cupcake thread or snoop around and you should find explanations in the puzzle/cupcake thread.

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments Christine and I were putting our brains to work to find a quick and fun challenge for the team to make. After talking covers, colors and adding Steven's input, here's what chip'n'dale come out with:

THE COVER CHAIN READING CHALLENGE

How to play? Easy. Every time any of us finish a book, we copy the previous chain and paste our cover. A week for now we'll see how big is our reading chain.

Do you feel like playing? I'll check our books read for August and build the initial chain. (to be posted in a bit)
