I figured out the picture thing:

I looked at the spreadsheet earlier and we were in last place! Lets read some short books to catch up.

Ladies your mission should you choose to accept it is to read as many short books as you can in the last half of April:

160-200 pages: 3 points
201-275 pages: 2 points
275-300 pages: 1 points

Now that I have the hang of posting pictures, I'm addicted.

However, I'll look for something short on Kindle.

OMG there was a bombing at the Boston Marathon yesterday. An 8 yr old boy was killed waiting to watch his father at the finish line. We were supposed to go there on Thursday. Probably best to stay out of the way.

So for a May challenge I was going to do something centered around Cinco de Mayo, Mother's Day and Memorial Day. The only May holidays I see in Portugal are Labor Day and The Santo Cristo Festival in the Azores. I can incorporate these as well if Sonia wants.

I don't know where Laura or Mary are located to see if there are another country's holidays I should look up. I don't want to exclude anyone.

Awwwww Mary that's so sweet of you! You can add labbor's day if you want - I didn't know about the Azores one, Lisbon celebrates Sto Antonio's day on June 13th. And we also celebrate Mother's day on May :)

I had planned on looking again in June. I will incorporate St. Antonio's day into a June challenge if I can. (I am not familiar with the holiday).

I'm not sure what to connect Labor Day with (our Labor Day is in September). Maybe characters with manual labor jobs?

Well, I don't know if it helps, but in labor day we have a reunion of all the major Union sindicates whit a slow march on one of the major Lisbon avenues.

Well see, I have a little problem I am currently reading 9 books, so I can't possible start a new one, can I use the number of pages left?

It goes like that:

- 393 pages left
- 483 pages left
- 83 pages left
- 113 pages left
- 300 pages left
- 225 pages left
- 132 pages left
- 187 pages left

It's just for fun so sure if it encourages you to finish up some of the ones with less pages left.

(unless someone else objects).

What Sonia wants to do for the challenge is fine with me.

Does the person with the most points get to do anything special? I thought I came up with some ideas for that earlier but that was so long ago, I think those brain cells have died by now. I need a nap, lol.

You can't tell but I've made so many typos in this... I can't type, can't think.. must veg! And that means lying down to read and possibly nap.

Eureka! I've just discovered that you can sort your shelves by number of pages! I haven't really messed with shelf settings so this was quite the revelation for me, hehe. I now have a way to search my ever-growing TBR list for potential books for our mini challenge. (See Message #9 if you are not sure what I'm talking about).

I've been trying to figure out what the "winner" should get.

I picked the short book theme for this month because it was already half over and we only had 1 book read and some teams had 14 already.

Hope everyone is able to enjoy some reading today or tomorrow. I've been trying to catch up with the book I should have been finished with. I'm going to try to read more before sleep tonight. I'm reading . It's pretty good.

So I'm rereading Firelight for the BOM read. Can I still count it? I read the ARC the first time and am reading the final product this time.

Absolutely correct, Sonia! It was 1 year for Round I, but we changed it for Round II.

I finally got my hands on the audio of again. I had to give it back to the library with only 2 discs left, so should be finishing that soon.

BTW, I AM participating in the mini challenge. I just forgot to keep track on a shelf or somewhere else. Basically, any books I read from the start of the challenge to the end are part of the challenge. I will try to put together a tally on Sunday.

I haven't really read any short books and it was my idea. Mostly because like Sonja, I have too many started already.

But I did finish One & Only.

How to quickly post a picture w/o fiddle-farting around with the right aspect ratio of "width and height." Just pick one!

For example, in Mary's picture in Post #69, she probably wanted to scale down that huge pic...here is the "default" size that doesn't designate a W or H:

Decide which you want to go with, "width" or "height." Let's say a height of "200." and the width will adjust accordingly.

I was hoping to finish it today but I am doing a very important task (at least one that I'm enjoying a lot doing) so I got sidetracked. If not today, tomorrow tops!

I read 100 pages of this in the bathtub tonight and will see if I can finish it tonight while watching American Idol. It's only about 216 pages. It's set at a castle/resort that really exists.

Yikes. I just looked at the all team spreadsheet and while we are up to 5 books we look further behind than before. The gap is widening ladies.

I'm doing another challenge in May that requires 2 1,000+ page books. So I'm trying to get ahead this month because those may slow me down in May.

I'm updating it, I'm checking Mango Tango's numbers now... We have a member that already read 11 books. I feel depressed.

I apologize in advance. I'm more of a group cheerleader then a hardcore reader. I go through spurts though. Lately I haven't been finished much. I usually finish in a year what either Lisa finishes in 2 months :-P (ok maybe not quite that bad, but close).

It's okay, Jex! Cheerleaders are good to have, too!

We need more members is what we need. We've got the lowest goal of all the teams. But, as I mentioned in the Captain's Chat thread in our sister group, I'm hoping the mods have some sort of ideas up their sleeves about how we'll get closer to the goal.
