I need to do a serious update soon. The three books I read this weekend felt amazing... but it also stole some serious GR time...

It's nice to have read something. I've been so out of the reading loop in the last couple of weeks.

At first I wasn't getting much into the story... it took me two days to get to the 18% mark. Never a good sign. But now I'm really liking it. Not so much for the story itself, since it reminds me of a genre of anime - fortunately, is the one I like to watch, so it's all good - but for the scenario, it allows to picture Japan... the kenji, the cherry blossoms, the colors, the cultural shock. And it makes some kind of sense. The outsider american that suddenly sees herself immerse into Japan and Japanese culture is made in a believable way.
Have you seen movies like "Hero" or "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon". See the beauty of those movies? The book gives that same sense, even if it isn't that well illustrated.
I usually prefer more easy readings, so this one may take me a little longer to get through. You know what? I don't care. The peace that I have today trying to imagine me having a picnic under the Sakura blossoms white and pink (which I always associate to a rolling gel pen brand, it turns out means cherry trees) and mood lifting are worth it.

"Re-reads" will be allowed, if it has been six months since you have read the book.
I CAN USE ALL MY RE-READS OF KATE DANIELS BOOKS!!!!! *happy dance*
Well, all but Magic Rises, but when we reach that book in the buddy reads, round two will be already over.

Anyone else wants to join?
Or any dropouts?

Sounds good; I'll have to try it one of these days. It is on my radar.

The dog's name is "Perlos" is a so called Weimaraner, a really big one and needs to learn a lot in our household and I am totally stressed out *go here, go there, go anywhere*.
Sonia, I am so sorry. I did not manage to get past page 50 yet for Ink. The pictures are great btw.
that was a really short update, I keep you posted, maybe I manage to squeeze in an audiobook at least while walking the dog, but I am not sure of anything anymore.

There are so cute. I have habits too erratic to have a dog... so I got a cat instead. *grins*
Anyway, don't worry about Ink. I am the same. The books is beautiful but isn't grabbing me like I was hoping it would. I may have to be reading other in the side.

Halloweens and Ghosts and Pumpkins and Read. Read. Read.
This Read-a-Thon is divided in two events, one will grant us points by number of pages read. For the second one we need to read 5 themes out of 10. Reading themes is progressive: 1st theme - 1 book, 2nd theme - 2 books,... for a total of 15 books.
I'll be setting the threads soon, to start planning, but I just wanted to give you a taste.
Who wants in?

*giggles*"
**giggles**

Of course the little hobbits are really close to us with only a 2 book difference, that meaaaaans... we have to READ! READ! READ *grins*
We now have 691 books read, with 45 BAP's for a total of 736 books.
What iiiiif, we try to move from 691 to 725 this week? We can read 34 books in a week, riiiight?
*grins*
OK, that is the dreamy goal. The realistic one? hit the 750 mark of book total!
GO CADETS!!!!

So?!
Every time Men and/or Elves show up in our neighborhood, there is trouble. Just look what happened when Gandalf
Maybe you should ask for ransom over at Forest Green? :P

Let's see... Dear old Bilbo was only minding his own business, preparing his meal when bunch of rude dwarves (& Gandalf) came, made a mess out of his little nice hole (and emptied his pantry!) They forced him to go with them (poor guy, he was so afraid to tell them all no!. Did you see all those weapons they were carrying?! And how scary they were looking?!). Then he had to do all the work for them. And as thank you they left him alone in dark cave full of goblins, they left him alone in dark and scary forest with evil Elves (and expecting him to save them! and than complained when he did!). And not to forget, sending him to face the dragon!
By the way, who saved all of you at the end? Who went to Mordor to destroy that ring while you were siting in your nice white towers waiting for the sign that it's over?
I think after all of this, Hobbits deserve more than two measly books.
*rant over*

Thank you, Cadet Blue!

@Tea: if memory serves, Frodo changed his mind, if not for gollum, the one ring will be back to Sauron's hand

How can you say something like that?! We are nice Hobbits! We don't bully anyone!

I can't believe you fell for that! Tolkien made that part up. He wanted to make that scene more movie-like. Who would go see a movie where two Hobbits walk to the chasm, throw ring into the lava and then stroll out of there singing their merry songs? Because that's how it happened. We Hobbits know the truth. It's part of our lore.

Our security is fine... you caught us when we were inspecting the

Yes you are. But you are taking books instead of lunch money

Sure Sure!
If you can't prove it, it didn't happened!

Hm... So you're saying that all it takes is new

OK. We borrowed few books from you. But you kidnapped an innocent person (and his light)! That is sooo wrong....

Innocent? Innocent? He's an Elf!! They could prevent all this mess before and did nothing to stop it!
