Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments Good... After reinforcing the wards of the place, I'll be posting Matt Bomer's posters next.

And maybe some Chris Hemsworth's just because! In his Thor outfit to match the uniform theme, and wearing only a pair of levi's 501, as a book security measure.

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments Oh my... I fortunately had already stored the books safely back or else we would risk loosing them again.

Those will definitely work.

*sneaks a book in his trousers*

HEY! Don't touch me there! Assault! Assault! Oh fine, it's a stolen book! :(

Those were posters Steven, not the real thing... so no need to get excuses to be searched by the hotties... you don't get nobody to search but me!

You can't. That is the main purpose... is this new type of ward that floods brain with visual images which cause the victim subject to experience trouble focusing on the main goal.

message 1267: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments LK, that puppy is so cute. Well done!

message 1268: by Lisa Kay (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 15159 comments Yes, thanks for the idea about the wards, Sonia. They appear to be working. Glad I added the puppy. Shades of The Dresden Files... hint, hint. ☺

Mums the word.

message 1271: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments So, now that the wards are keeping Steven busy, let's talk about the RaT's themes... I am in a little advantage here, since almost anything I read can apply, but, on the other hand, I'm not a faster reader, so... I was thinking maybe a spell-it-out option and the face your fears - you can use your mysteries and murders here, and maybe the cover hunt one? This 3 allow for a lot of options...and then we can have either hallow places, powers or creatures

What do you all think?

message 1272: by Lisa Kay (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 15159 comments Okay by me, Sonia. I doubt I'll read any horror, except I'm thinking of listening to the audio of Watchers by Dean Koontz as it has been on my "TB listened to" list for awhile and I loved the book.

I'll also throw in a couple of mysteries. And, of course, the next Harry Dresden: Proven Guilty (The Dresden Files, #8) by Jim Butcher .

message 1273: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments Hence the spell-it-outs and cover hunts and face your fears one :)

Dresden applies to a almost any themes :)

I'll be reading Grave Sight (Harper Connelly, #1) by Charlaine Harris (locations and powers and face your fears) and Magic Burns (Kate Daniels, #2) by Ilona Andrews (creatures and powers and locations) and also The Dead Girls' Dance (The Morganville Vampires, #2) by Rachel Caine (creatures and powers and locations)

message 1274: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments Since our secret weapon is puppy-sitting, so far is me, you and Jessica.

And since the Hobbits are hot on our tail, we'll have to start reading like a banshee now :o)

Christine (inhalesbookslikepopcorn) | 1052 comments I want to join the read a thon but can only commit to a couple of books because the dog still has all the power in our household :)

I don't read creepy books - I can't sleep when I watch creepy stuff or read creepy books :) So no help from me for those.

Option 2:
Theme #8 + #9 + #10 look good to me, yay!

And, Sonia, we are not stealing them, we are only borrowing them. You'll get them back sometime next year. After all of us finish reading them :P

Read-a-Thon Duration: October 4th BST 4:00 PM to October 19th BST 4:00 PM

We decided to use the Greenwich hour for two reasons:
1.Is the "zero" hour. All time zones relate to it
2.Daylight saving time change will only occur on October 27th, so it won't interfere with read-a-thon timings.

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments Gook Morning cadets.

It's raining here at Lisbon, I arrived at work 10 second before it started - 2h40m later the air feels cold, damp and boring.

Can the summer hold a little more, pretty please? I'm not ready to autumn yet.

Although my mother brought me a full bag of quinces, that I'm dying to roast in the oven with honey... and autumn means roasted chestnut vendors... *slaps shelf* noooo I want to wear sandals and tshirts a little longer.

Book wise, I finished Coraline by Neil Gaiman yesterday and since I needed an audio to listening while commuting, I finally started Hounded (The Iron Druid Chronicles, #1) by Kevin Hearne . Only 10% in and I'm liking Atticus already - HE CAN MIND TALK DOGS - how cool is that?

Happy Readings
