Jessica (thebookcellar) | 102 comments Doing great Lisa Kay!! :) I'm almost finished The Immortal Rules (Blood of Eden, #1) by Julie Kagawa .

I don't know how you and Sonia find time to read with everything that you have to handle! I'm updating my class notes and then it's back to the grind!

Christine (inhalesbookslikepopcorn) | 1052 comments finished Biting Cold (Chicagoland Vampires #6) by Chloe Neill & updated my post.

btw would this one count for *creatures/vampires* although I started it back in Sept?

Well, today was the first day I was able to read something *grins*

Jessica, if it starts getting too much, let us know, OK? We appreciate all your help, *bows*, but don't let it keep you from enjoying the challenge

message 1408: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments So I read 30% from The Dead Girls' Dance (The Morganville Vampires, #2) by Rachel Caine - 75 pages

And 14% of Grabesstimmen (Harper Connelly, #1) by Charlaine Harris - 41 pages.

I chose this edition of grave sight so it can fit both abilities and cover :)

Will be back to reading another hour before bed.

message 1409: by Jessica (new)

Jessica (thebookcellar) | 102 comments I don't mind helping!! I've just been pretty sick the last few days, but I like the fact that I am able to stay busy. Besides I figure this can give me practice so I can be a captain or co captain for round 3.

:)

(I'm also watching tv show's and movies... partly my fault not reading enough!! :P )

message 1410: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments Well...I was planning on reading till I fall asleep, but am being distracting by this uniform:

I was never a big fan of Russell Crowe, but there is something about gladiator...

message 1412: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments Ganicus!!!

Spartacus was aired awful late on sundays. I watched just a few episodes. It didn't help either that I liked Andy Whitfield a LOT.

I need to do a Spartacus marathon one of these days. And cry like a baby in the end, because I know I will.

message 1413: by Jessica (new)

Jessica (thebookcellar) | 102 comments I cried like a big baby. Such an awesome show!! Andy Whitfield was great, so I agree with you there. :)

message 1414: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments One of this days I will watch it. And then spend like a week talking gladiator mode :)

Annnnnnd I ended up watching Gladiator till the end instead of reading or going to bed. Almost 1 AM *sigh* Tomorrow is working day. Do not want.

message 1415: by Lisa Kay (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 15159 comments Y.U.M. Gladiators.

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 15159 comments I don't think I have anything right away for Task #2 (Theme #8: creatures). I see others of you do, so I'll not worry about it.

message 1418: by Christine (new)

Christine (inhalesbookslikepopcorn) | 1052 comments Yummy Gladiators. The pictures are awesome. The right thing to do at work is ogling Gladiator pics *lol*

I also should watch Spartacus someday, when I have a little more time :)

Christine (inhalesbookslikepopcorn) | 1052 comments I have started a new audiobook - audiobooks grow on me, earlier this year I would have told you that audiobooks do nothing for me - but now I think they are convenient to listen to when you cant sit down and read :)

The Wings of the Dove by Henry James updated my post #12

message 1421: by Jessica (new)

Jessica (thebookcellar) | 102 comments Everything has been updated. :)

I finished The Immortal Rules (Blood of Eden, #1) by Julie Kagawa last night.

It was pretty good, at times it was a little slow but overall the world building was great. Not sure how soon I will read the next one, maybe I will see if it is at my library first before I buy it.

I'm about 1/3 of the way through Girl of Nightmares (Anna, #2) by Kendare Blake

So far so good! Next will be The Amityville Horror by Jay Anson (As you can see I am trying to help with the book covers!)

message 1422: by Emy (new)

Jessica, gratitude. Gannicus was a true champion as he won his freedom on the sands of the Arena.

Andy Whitfield: a true champion whose presence is missed.

Starz will begin showing the entire Spartacus Saga on Oct. 26.

Apologies, but my tongue would not cease when I saw the picture.

Jessica (thebookcellar) | 102 comments SO I updated our Read-A-Thon last night! Everyone is doing great so far!! :)

We also completed step 3 in the Halloween Hunt. We now need special abilities to be completed. I am reading The Raven Boys (The Raven Cycle, #1) by Maggie Stiefvater and I will also start on My Soul to Take (Soul Screamers, #1) by Rachel Vincent (not sure if I should read the big bound book which has 570 pages for another chunkster, or if I should could the books individually. Any thoughts?

Soul Screamers Volume One (Soul Screamers, #0.5-2) by Rachel Vincent (this is the big bound book of 3 books in one)

message 1441: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments I'm going to finish my Kate Daniels one tonight, it serves abilities too, as does grave sight

message 1442: by Lisa Kay (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 15159 comments Since we did "abilities" for Task #3, what theme are we doing for Task #4?

message 1443: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments Task 3 was Halloween covers, 4 is abilities. And 5 is ghost, right?

message 1444: by Lisa Kay (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 15159 comments Well, Jess submitted "abilities" for Task #3.

message 1445: by Lisa Kay (new)

Christine (inhalesbookslikepopcorn) | 1052 comments @Jess, thanks for updating everything, we're really doing well :)

Task #4

I am currently reading The Song of the Quarkbeast *abilities - magic*. I suppose that I will finish it this weekend. I am on p 110 of 290.

And I am dying to read Firelight (Firelight, #1) by Sophie Jordan *abilities - flying* (I devour everything with dragons in it, actually it's about dragon shapeshifters, which is even better).

message 1447: by Jessica (last edited Oct 11, 2013 09:03PM) (new)

Jessica (thebookcellar) | 102 comments Okay great! I think we will be set for task 4 once Christine finishes The Song of the Quarkbeast.

@Christine, let me know what Firelight is like! I've been thinking of checking this out at my library eventually.. once I get through my TBR pile. :P

After I finish Raven Boys. I will read a book for the spell it out. Maybe Sanctum (Guards of the Shadowlands, #1) by Sarah Fine . I've been dying to read this!
