Echo (echoesoflostlibraries) Hey, just a quick introduction. My name is Per Kristian and I'm a 32 year old male who's currently studying cognitive psychology at the University of Oslo.
These days I mostly read popular science books, particularly anything related to neuroscience or biology. (Would've joined you on a re-read of Dune if I had the time tho, I like the book a lot)

Welcome welcome!

What books into biology are you into? I have a few myself!

Echo (echoesoflostlibraries) Everything from Richard Dawkins to textbooks on zoology and microbiology really. I'm currently reading The 21st-Century Brain by Steven Rose who is a biologist, and I love his approach compared to the more cognitive approaches I'm used to. It's the first book I've read where neurons are illustrated with mitochondria!
I'm saving "The Epigenetics Revolution" for a treat. Thinking I might dig into that when I've finished my bachelor thesis in june.

If you have any recommendations I would love to hear them. :)

I have a few books from Richard Dawkins myself. I'm sure you've read The Origin of Species by Darwin, and I've recently come across Your Inner Fish by Neil Shubin; it's studying evolution by way of fossils and DNA.

I'll definitely have to look into the 21st-Century Brain !

Darliza (parentheticals) | 92 comments Hi, Per Kristian! Welcome to the group. Feel free to join the discussion on Dune (even if you don't read with us). We'd love more input on anything on the boards. :)

Echo (echoesoflostlibraries) Thanks all, for the warm welcome :)

Rose: Your Inner Fish sounds very interesting (reminds me I'd also like to read Horseshoe Crabs and Velvet Worms: The Story of the Animals and Plants That Time Has Left Behind). Added to the list of things to keep me happy through the summer.

Darliza: I just might :)
