Barbie, we have an Erotic Romance thread in the Authors' Corner, and you can post your books in the Authors Introduce Your Books thread in the same folder. Thanks. To discuss Women's Lit, there is also a thread for that in the Literary Fiction folder. Thanks much.

message 61: by Susan (new)

Susan (susan_arscott) | 3 comments Thanks for the invite, I'm always searching for new books and authors. Because I write middle grade and YA fiction, most of what I read fits into that category and am interested in titles I've not read.

message 63: by Abbie (new)

Abbie Foxton Hello - let's see what you've got! Need to read.

message 64: by Cathy (new)

Cathy | 2 comments I'm trying to get some feedback on the R4R program that I see listed further down the discussion lists. Sorry, I didn't see a place there to ask questions about it. Kindly send me to the right place if this isn't it.

I'd like to know from the writers how successful this has been. I tried sending out free books for reviews elsewhere and got burned. Are you actually getting reviews from the people you send books to? Have they been honest and well-written? What is the percentage of positive reviews you've received? Thanks for any feedback you could post for me.

I'm a retired literature teacher who has published fiction in various places over the past 15 years or so. I taught at Loyola University New Orleans and live now in Duluth MN, where I read, write, and complain about the weather (it's May 4, and we have fresh snow). Cheers, everyone!

Yes I am also an author, but I read a lot more than I write. Looking for some great recommendations in NEW dystopian literature.

message 74: by Maryann (new)

Maryann Morris (msmaryannm) | 5 comments Thank you for inviting me to the group! I'm a new author but am a bookaholic! I put my Kindle in overdrive and I've run out of shelf space in my home! I guess that isn't a bad thing.. :)

I love a good mystery, crime drama, anything romance, or historical fiction.

message 75: by Etienne (new)

Etienne Gibbs (eagibbs) | 5 comments Thank you for the group invite.

As a fellow-author and a talk show host, I'm a strong advocate for the promotion of the novice and aspiring author. That's why I created a talk show.

With my show about to return from its hiatus, now is a good time for fellow authors to book their slots. Therefore, I'd like invite all your group members to book their slot on my talk show so that they may share the story behind the story of becoming an author?

The show is slated to return from its hiatus next month. In the meanwhile, click on the link below to familiarize yourself with my site.

message 80: by Cristina (new)

Cristina Martin Hi everyone. I wish I had time to read AND write these days but I am busy with work and my doctoral studies. My text books on management are not as fun and exciting as some of the stuff I would rather be reading, trust me. :(

Rebecca Booth | 1 comments Hey Everyone! I am a little new to this group but thought I'd introduce myself! My name is Rebecca and I'm 25 from the North East of England. I have a MA in modern history and love reading.

I have quiet a broad range of tastes when it comes to reading, from historical fiction to fantasy, crime fiction to romance autobiographies to history. At the moment I have decided for the first year to read all the books in the Richard and Judy reading list.

I am keen to start taking part in book discussion and look forward to taking part in this particular group :-)

message 92: by Wendy (new)

Wendy (wendyneedsbooks) Hello, thanks so much for letting me join!

I'm an avid reader (and Goodreadser), writer, and stumbled across this intriguing group while researching literary agents. I really enjoyed the Q&A session with agent Seth Fishman and am looking forward to checking out the group. I enjoy dark books, difficult books, books that make me think or that teach me something. I have an affinity for anything related to WWII and any literary war fiction. Also an obsession with spreadsheets and checking TBR books off lists!

I'm looking forward to meeting you!

message 93: by Herman (new)

Herman Kappes | 3 comments Hello everyone. It's good to see so many authors in a group. I'm new to groups so I'm just figuring this stuff out. I read a lot but I don't have the imagination to be an author. I'm finding historical fiction the way to go at the moment. I find myself reading, and getting bored with, work related manuals and trade magazines so I'm here looking for ideas.

message 94: by Herman (new)

Herman Kappes | 3 comments Sorry about this but I have a question. I am reading a book that doesn't show up on goodreads. Any advice for having it added would be appreciated.

I have a great book you might just like. It's not coming out until September 7th. But it's a sort of historically driven Thriller with a bit of sci-fi technology themes in the mix.
Do you like Dan Brown? He just released Inferno, the newest Lang book.

message 96: by Herman (new)

Herman Kappes | 3 comments Dan brown is good. Brad Meltzer and Harry Turtledove make my list.

message 97: by Russell (new)

Russell Libonati (ozone0) | 73 comments Hello. Sci-fi, fantasy writer and reader here.

I have a question: Has anyone else noticed that the goodreads recommendations are a little out of whack? They really ought to change the algorithm to look at the number of stars given to an book, instead of just whether you've read it. For instance, I have recommendations from my "Not So Good" bookshelf. LOL! I'm pretty sure these books have less than three stars for me. It's kind of unlikely I'll want to read a sequel to one of these books. Just sayin'.

message 98: by Erica (new)

Erica (nocturnalarchivebooks) | 1 comments Hi everyone! I would say that reading is my passion. my current obsession is Urban Fantasy. I also just opened my very own online fiction book store. Please if you have the time check it out. www.nocturnalarchivebooks.com

I am looking forward to some interesting conversations!

I read mostly fantasy, supernatural, magical and literary but enjoy a mixed bag of genres and will give anything a go if it sounds interesting or gets a good rec.

message 100: by Lana (new)

Lana Axe (lana_axe) | 11 comments I'm noticing a lot of ASMSG authors here. :) Discussions here look good, so I'm happy to be a member. I do wish the rules would go away. They pop up every time I post and it's very annoying. I hope they will go away at some point.
