It is just a cheap ending. They didn't have to earn their happily ever after, they got it handed to them. I agree, I loved James however I feel like it invalidates the choice he made.

Exactly.

Zelle | 2 comments i'm a bit disappointed 'bout the book. it's like Tessa can't really decide who she loves most. at first i thought he just loves Jem out of pity. but then i got confused. don't get me wrong, i love the book. i just don't like the epilogue part...

Roses-aren't-red-darling | 32 comments Yeah, I felt that way too. I just wanted some.... resolution. I didn't feel like I got that.

Rashika (is tired) (rashikathebookowl) Roses-aren't-red-darling wrote: "Yeah, I felt that way too. I just wanted some.... resolution. I didn't feel like I got that."
In the epilogue what I wanted was a conversation between Tessa and Magnus and how they planned to do bless? (i cannot remember what it's called) Clary so that demons wouldn't be able to get to her.
I just wanted something that would make the connection between the two series more evident.

Roses-aren't-red-darling | 32 comments Yeah. I felt like it was all too rushed. Almost as if Cassie was forcing the end on us in a way.

Rashika (is tired) (rashikathebookowl) It seemed almost too easy.
It was a perfect HEA dressed up and what not and I do NOT like those.

Kaylah Eiramenna Carrell (wearebutdustandshadow) | 117 comments I mean, I'll be first to admit that Cassie had a lot of pressure coming from both Will and Jem lovers pleading for their happily ever afters with Tessa, but she definitely took the cheap way out! You can't please everyone..that's just how the world works

YES EXACTLY! That's why I think she took the easy way out.
@Pernelle HEA=Happily Ever After :)

Perenelle | 67 comments oh, i see :S
Well, my friend says that all the new series ideas she has is just to make more money :/
But i'd actually like to see a better ending in CoHF, like really. The ending of Clockwork Princess made Tessa seem so awful, not wanting to be alone and all. I get that you get lonely and all, but I just don't like Jem just steps into the picture after Will's gone. And since Jem's not a silent brother anymore (and how did that happen?) who's going to replace him next???

I actually agree with your friend. Four series' based on the same thing.. is kind of too much for me. I think Cassie is talented and I was really hoping she would come up with another idea but she didn't.

I am excited about CoHF, I want answers :P

message 67: by Perenelle (new)

Perenelle | 67 comments I saw the Tarot Cards for the Shadowhunters but there were all these new characters that I've never heard of! I'm wondering what Cassandra's going to do about her new plans for her new series o-o

And I'm really hoping that CoHF ends well

I get what your saying but it's not like Jem just walked into Tessas life straight after will died it was over 100 years later..Tessa lived all that time alone after Will and still kept wearing his bracelet he gave to her. I could understand everyone being upset if Will died and Jem walked straight in going hey I'm not a silent brother anymore lets get together now but that didn't happen it was over a century later?

Rashika (is tired) (rashikathebookowl) I guess.. but for us it was right after his death. We read the death scene and then we had a reunion scene between the two where Tessa claims she has always loved Jem.
I personally don't believe you can love two people at the same time. First of all it wouldn't be fair to either person and second of all how can you? There will always be someone that is a tiny bit more closer to you right?
You make a good point of course but I believe that things worked out too easily. She gets both boys and never has to make a decision. She gets an easy way out.

message 71: by Brittany (new)

Brittany I totally agree that it was the easy way out and Tessa's decisions were kind of made for her due to all the events in CP2 and she doesn't really deserve that. But thinking about it that way makes me disappointed in the CP2 ending. I'd rather think about it as Will and Jem had such hard lives and made hard decisions and went through such emotional events that they both deserved happiness with Tessa. That way, in the end, they both got their happiness that was so very deserved (even though it means Tessa reaps the rewards) and the ending is infinitely more happy for me.

message 72: by SHINY (new)

SHINY | 771 comments OMG, I just loved CP2 so much! It was not disappointed in the least bit. I was so happy that both guys (Will and Jem) got happiness in the end because quite honestly, they both deserve it.
Now I have to wait till next year for the next shadowhunter book, COHF... Can't Wait!

message 73: by Zoe (new)

Zoe (zoes_reads) I think it's slightly unrealistic in the fact that Tessa gets two great loves. It's also unrealistic that Jem would ever become human again. But let's not fret to much, what's done is done. And while I'm not defending the unrealisticness of CP2 and Cassie's other books, it IS urban fantasy. Note the word fantasy. So don't get your knickers in a twist.........

... it's set in our sense of reality.

Julia Griffis - The Romance Bibliophile (theromancebibliophile) I loved this series, however, the epilogue of the "Clockwork Princess" was bittersweet for me. I was so happy that Tessa and Will were able to end up together. On the other hand, I was so deeply depressed that Will eventually ended up dying; I literally cried like a baby:( I guess it was nice that Tessa was able to end up with Jem as well, it's just that I have always been Team Will and Tessa! No offense to Jem fans because I liked him too. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with "The Infernal Devices," and I plan on re-reading this series many times in the future!

message 76: by Hannah (new)

Hannah | 10 comments I think sometimes its easy to criticize the plot and Tessa, but you have to remember that its not always as clear as in real life which decisions to make as it is in books to see the obvious. Like how some people hate that Tessa slept with Will the same day she thought Jem died, but really she thought she was going to die with Will the next day and she just wanted to be with the one she loved before she died.

message 77: by Emily (new)

Emily (tmi_lover26) | 45 comments I LOVED this series sooooo much. I loved how Cassandra Clare was realistic in the fact that eventually Will would die (cried so hard at that part). A lot of authors would have tried to sugar coat it and make Will immortal too so that they could be happy forever. Yes, Tessa does get Jem afterward but you know he will die as well. It's a happy ending as well as a very sad one. It also makes you appreciate Magnus more and how he suffers with immortality.

Neha (nehalicious69) | 22 comments Wait Ithought that Jemwas still immortal even though he wasn't a Silent Brother.

Nope. Jem is mortal again. That's why its so heartbreaking

message 80: by Autumn (new)

Autumn (autumndavis94) | 4 comments It's impossible for me to pick favorites. Even though the 2 boys had flaws they were both so wonderful, and I've thought about it since the months I've read, and though I'll always agree that Tessa and Will worked best together, I just loved Jem and Will too much to pick which I wanted her to be with, arghh...

message 81: by priya (new)

priya (gpriyaa) I thought the ending was perfect because if I wrote the book I would just end up with killing everyone or something but it would definitely end with someone important dying

message 82: by Renee (new)

Renee I love the whole series!!!! except I was so sad when Will died and then she still had forever to live.

message 83: by Renee (new)

Renee Brother Zachariah!!!! WHOOP WHOOP!!!
Hottest Silent Bro! Jem FTW!!!!

Elvira (felvirareads) | 18 comments I thought the ending was really good, I cried and you might know why. It was so beautiful but sad at the same time.

Why were you disappointed?

message 85: by Ivy (new)

Ivy (ivy48035) I thought that when Tessa kissed Jem after Will died WAS MESSED UP!

message 86: by B.L. (new)

B.L. Jones (bljonesbooks) | 12 comments Ivy wrote: "I thought that when Tessa kissed Jem after Will died WAS MESSED UP!"

Why? He'd been dead for a long time and Tessa and Jem loved each other and Will. Why shouldn't both Jem and Tessa be happy? I'ts not like they did it behind Will's back or anything. If Jem was alright with Will marrying Tessa and having children then i'm sure Will would be fine with Tessa finding happiness with his soul brother.

I truly believe that the reason Tessa fell for them both and they both fell for her is because Will and Jem were truly intertwined, that their souls were as one and she couldn't have loved one without loving the other because they were part of each other. xxx

It's like saying Clary should want both Jace and Alec. Both of them are just as close a parabatai as Will and Jem had been. I guess I am just not okay with Tessa's incredible selfishness in wanting both of them and I am frustrated about the fact that she GOT both of them in the end.

Couldn't agree with you more! Although I'm Team Will all the way, I also believe that their souls were intertwined and that is how she could love both.

I was just wondering the same thing... did will remained an active shadowhunter after marrying Tessa?

also, do we get to know why Magnus had this special care for Will? maybe there are some clues on the Bane chronicles... which I haven't read
