Gamal Hennessy How will Amazon's purchase of Good Reads impact independent publishers? http://t.co/TfdFGaDOT3

Rebecca (perdita9) | 2 comments A lot of independent publishers, publish with Amazon. Personally, I think this is a good thing. I've bought books on Amazon and Kindle which have been recommended to me via GR.

Don G. (dgford) | 35 comments Just in the last two days I've had two of my books published after a mountain of writing, rewriting, and editing into the wee hours. Three books in all over the past two weeks. Finally I can offer them up to you folks here as well. All on Amazon

Cheers, Don

Don G. (dgford) | 35 comments Here is what I'm up to lately and a suggestion to other writers as well who want to move a few books and get the proverbial author's name spread abroad. No, don't roll it up and stick it in a bottle to float on the sea, but instead:

I'm wondering if we are all having fun yet? I'm giving it my best shot. Now to visit Dr.'s offices, dentists, and other places where good reads are found. NOT JUST the traditional book stores. My barber has one of my books "Death & Taxes" in his reading area and folks are wondering who this local writer might be. Kudos for your comment. Cheers, Don

P.S. You could do the bottle idea if your glass had a large enough opening for your book. Good luck with that one. I sold one to a clinic today, and a couple other offices want me to come back. :-} D.

Margaret Murray (goodreadscommargaretcmurray) | 6 comments Why did Amazon buy Goodreads? Will it affect us? You bet. Here's some statistics that highlight our value--not as authors but as reviewers of the biggest and growing book market ever--the Goodreads members who are also the biggest readers.

Ian Miller | 12 comments I think it is too early to tell. As an author who is self-publishing, I plan to roll with it and take advantage of anything good, and otherwise soldier on.

I support any corporate merging that moves us closer to a One World Government controlled by One World, Inc. (sarcasm)
