Kate (kaitlins16) How do you organize your books on your bookshelf--both on Goodreads and at home?

message 2: by Emma (new)

Emma My books on my bookcases at home are arranged in alphabetical order via authors last names.

Elizabeth my selves are arranged by my favorites

message 4: by Kate (new)

Kate (kaitlins16) My bookshelf is currently . . . not arranged because I'm in the middle of rearranging it. Before I started doing that today, I had most of it arranged by genre (like vampires here, dystopia there, and historical fiction/time travel over there, etc.).

I use library books most of the time so I don't have it arranged for long because of new books coming in and out. But I arrange it from the books I will read first and so on. The newest book I bought was Clockwork Princess. I only buy books I know I will read over and over. So when COHF come out I will buy that along with the DA series.
On goodreads I arrange it by genre, release dates, favourites and highly anticipated.

Emma (emma_reader) | 77 comments At home, my books are pretty unorganized except for the fact that all the books in the same series are all together. In Goodreads, I sort them into the categories it fits in.

Kate (kaitlins16) I try to organize my books on Goodreads by genre, favorites, own on kindle, own real copy, and year I read it. I have a shelf named "awesome" where I put books that I look at and say "that book has some really cool stuff in it." Some are probably not my favorites, and some even just have a three star rating. I also have a shelf dedicated to the books I want to reread and review.

Home = favourites order:
Harry Potter
Percy Jackson, Heroes of Olympus, Kane Chronicles
Hunger Games
Mortal Instruments
Inkworld
and then all the other books I own in a sorta rainbow order...

Claudia the Night Owl (claudiamancilla) | 102 comments At home I organize them by favorite series and then by size so they look good. On goodreads I have a bunch of shelves that I place books in shelves like demons, angels, vampires, hot guy, and need a tissue Of these shelves I only organize my favorites shelf.

message 12: by Ashley (new)

Ashley (anbarnett) I have two small areas where I keep books and I split them into two groups...books I have read and books to be read...then I put them in alphabetical order by authors last name. If it is a series and I know the order they go in I then put them in numerical series order. If not they go in order by book title.

I work in the library and author then title order is how we organize it...if it's a series and we know the order they go in numerical order. So it just became second nature for me to do it at home.

I just switched which books went where so right now they are just split into read and to be read...gotta finish rearranging them, it's driving me crazy.

Brooke (brookeluvsbooks) I arrange my books by series and how new they are. If I really like the series then it is in the front with the newer series that aren't finished yet.

message 17: by Kate (new)

Kate (kaitlins16) I try to have them all together, and in the right order.

My bookshelf is now arranged by standalone books in one area then series books in the other area.
