S' (SLashay) Hello! Thanks for the invitation! I am a new author and actually just wrote and self published my new erotica-- 101 Labels of Black: The Vega Black Trilogy. Its been a great experience and I have learned so much from writers, editors, and most importantly... Book bloggers.

S.K. Munt (wordwhisperer) Hey I'm Samantha from Australia. I'm a writer and a mummy. I've recently debuted my first book 'The Marked Ones' and it's a paranormal romance about mermaids for the upper edge of YA right through to general fiction.

message 603: by P.B. (new)

P.B. Cannon | 5 comments Hi, I am a writer of science fiction with some fantasy or paranormal thrown in, and a smattering of horror every once in a while. I'm also a reader but I've been writing so much lately that my reading has gotten quite backed up (I've got at least twenty books languishing on my Kindle yelling for me to hurry up and read!) I've been a member of GR since December of 2012 but haven't been very active due to the writing. I joined this forum a little while ago and am just getting around to checking it out. I'm trying to do better.

Russell Libonati (ozone0) | 73 comments Hello everyone I'm Russell Libonati. I've recently published my debut sci-fi adventure novel, Salvage.

You think your job is hard? Bad day at the office? Well, did it involve explosive evacuation? Cubicle too cold? How about -120 degrees C? Did you spend 14 hours in zero G patching hulls, scrapping 32 metric tons of alloy or watching your co-worker get sucked through a hole the size of a dinner plate? No? Then you don't have clue.

Head on over to Read4Review and pick up a free copy. You can read a piece here or on Amazon to make sure it's to your liking. I wrote if for you, so I sure hope I hit the mark. Thank you.

Hey Russell, you're a writer too-you know that working in -120 is preferable to trying to edit or bang out a query letter ;)

Kristopher Norris (kristophernorris) | 20 comments Hello, I'm Kris. Reader, writer, artist, father....

I'm excited to have been invited by Travis! It's amazing the support I've found in the world of indie and self-publishing. Moving from ghost-writer to self-published has been wonderful, scary, but wonderful.

I’ve got a good feeling about this group. And, am more than willing to bet I’m going to find more than a few good reads here!

Thanks everyone!

Ross Hotchkiss (rosshotchkiss) | 1 comments Hello, I'm Ross. I work in the film/tv industry and enjoy the outdoors, travelling, cooking, too many other things to mention.

The bookshelves in the home I grew up in were filled with the classics and other stuff (Doc Savage, anyone?), but these days I'm mainly on the lookout for the classics of the future!

LaSonya Hi everybody, I'm LaSonya. I am a Processing Assistant, avid reader, wife, and mother of an 8-year old cocker spaniel named Brandi. Look forward to many book reads and discussions.

Janel Gradowski (janelgradowski) Hello, I'm Janel Gradowski. I love reading and writing culinary fiction. Actually I read any kind of book with a foodie theme, from mysteries to cookbooks. I am currently writing a women's fiction series with recipes. What a surprise, huh?

message 613: by Christian (new)

Christian Salas | 1 comments The name is Christian, and I thoroughly enjoy literature. My favorite genres include horror, suspense, science fiction, thrillers, and history. My love for literature began quite young and I often picked up a book opposed to a soccer ball. I LOVE Taco Bell. Doritos Locos Tacos - all the way. One of my favorite novels is 1984 and a favorite movie would have to be...Th Uninvited. I aspire to be an English teacher, preferably on a collegiate level. My wildest dream is to produce a work of literature that would be appreciated for years to come.

Hopefully this group will connect me with other literature lovers and maybe make some experienced writers.

Read on!

Sally Howes | 6 comments Greetings all! My name is Sally, I'm 35 years old, I live in South Australia and I am a lifelong bookworm. I am very much into the classics, literary fiction and contemporary fiction, plus some fantasy and historical fiction for colour. I was very happy to find this group, and look forward to chatting to you all. Please feel free to view my profile and send me a friend request or PM if you like what you see.

Louise Hart (louisemhart) | 7 comments Hi,
I am Louise. I am a recently published novelist and poet. I had been a member of goodreads, for a few months but have been considerably less active on the site than I would have liked. I spend my time writing and using social media, believing that life is an on going story and people the narrators.

M.K. Clinton (mkclinton) Hello,
I wanted to take a minute away from writing to introduce myself. I have really enjoyed being a member of Goodreads and wanted to venture into some groups that looked like the right fit. I look forward to getting to know and learn from everyone here.

Beth Well, I found out about this group in a convoluted way! I received an invitation from Travis Luedke on Google+ to join the group there and followed the link over here. After perusing the group topics, it sounded interesting, so I joined here, too. If you look at my reading list, you'll see my tastes are very eclectic. Since I write mysteries, I read a lot of those, but I also read mainstream, historical, women's fiction, nonfiction, etc. I'm looking forward to expanding my to-read list even more than it already is by belonging to this group! My in-person book club just finished reading and discussing The Coffee Trader, and I recommend it.

message 618: by T.D. (last edited Aug 30, 2013 09:25PM) (new)

T.D. Whittle (twhittle) Hello, everyone.

It's a pleasure to find this group, which I've just learnt about from a GR friend. About books and me ... what I love is good writing and am not too tightly held to any particular genre. I tend to agree with Oscar Wilde -- or, I believe it was Wilde who said it -- that there are no such things as genres, only good writing and bad writing. Having said that, probably I read more literary fiction than anything else.

I enjoy some popular fiction, and some old-fashioned Gothic and ghostly fiction. I like books which create and maintain a distinctive and immersing atmosphere, and ones which allow a variety of interpretations, rather than tying everything up with a neat bow at the end and doing all the readers' work for them.

There are a bunch of dead women whose work I love: Muriel Spark, Barbara Pym, Angela Carter, Shirley Jackson, Colette, Katherine Anne Porter, and Katherine Mansfield.

For now, since it's spring here in Melbourne, for me that means it's time for more Haruki Murakami.

Sally Howes | 6 comments Hi there, td, welcome to the group! Another Aussie, yay! *high five*

If you like ghost stories, have you read The Turn of the Screw? I have always steered clear of ghost stories but had to read this one for uni. I started out hating it and ended up loving it!
