Samantha LaFantasie (sam_goodno) | 33 comments I suppose I missed this. I'm still getting used to groups. Anyhow...
I'm Samantha LaFantasie. I write fantasy and some sci-fi. I mainly stay in those genres but do have some ideas of other genres floating through my mind. I'm married and have three kids. We reside in south-central Kansas with our two dogs and cat.
I also have a blog on my site and love to read and do reviews. Most of everything I read is in the same genres I write, but I do get asked to read others, which I find fascinating.
One of the biggest character points I have is I'm a hopeless romantic. That fact is very evident in my writing as well. I always tend to gravitate to those types of books more than anything, however, I'm not a romance buff nor do I specifically read the romance genre. Sounds weird, I know. I love tomatoes but hate ketchup. What can I say...I'm weird. :) It's nice to meet everyone and be apart of this lovely group!

Travis Starnes Hi everyone. I joined goodreads a long time ago, but never got involved in any groups. I am an avid reader and mostly read Sci-fi, Mystery, Fantasy and History books. I look forward to talking to some of you and learning about the books you like (cause who doesn't like to find new books to read).

Kellie (kelbel_25) Well, good evening! My name is Kellie, I am a Flight Attendant from Melbourne, Victoria.

I love reading! I love being taken away to a place that blurs out reality, I love book hangovers and I love falling in love with underdog characters and barracking (rooting) for the geek who gets the girl.

I love reading new books, and am always open to recommendations/suggestions. This is also my first group, so I am happy to make new "friends" on here!

I am a HUGE fan of JK Rowling and Jodi Picoult, have just finished The Fault In Our Stars - John Green, which I devoured!

So I hope to share many books with you!

Don't be shy, say "Hi," - Kellie, :0)

message 663: by Christy (new)

Christy (christybirmingham) Hi ((gulp, deep breath)) I'm new here!
My name is Christy and I am an avid reader and writer. I play with words in poetry, with one collection published so far, and am currently working on a contemporary fiction book. I love the classics like Shakespeare as well as modern-day writers that include Margaret Atwood. Nice to meet you all :)

Lorena Wood (lorenawood) | 2 comments Hello everyone.
I don't belong to many groups on Goodreads, but this one looked too fun to pass up. I read, write, and listen to books constantly. I read some non-fiction, but I have to admit I've become addicted to Paranormal Romance. Blame my mom and then my daughter.
I'm busy doing so many things in the book world, and one of my goals is to update my book shelves on this site. Not an easy task...makes me want to read everything over again!
Please feel free to distract me from my many duties by saying hello. I love conversation about books, and book recommendations. I rarely read anything new today without a recommendation.

Have a great day!

Panu Yang | 2 comments I'm Panu (Pawn.New), I like crazy mind stimulation and action-adventure books. Something like Hunger Games, although it isn't much of a mind stimulation. The second book had a bit too much romance, it was strange for me to read. I dislike characters that have super powers but have no brains on how to use them. I really want to get into George R. R. Martin's "Song of Ice and Fire" series. I was recommended the "Percy Jackson" Series, and "The Inheritance Cycle," So I will have to find some at my book store. That's all I read about haha.

Beeware | 6 comments Hello fellow readers,

My name is Bee. I am a Manager by day, a mother always and a reader by night.
I have recently discovered audio books and love the freedom this gives me. I now can read/listen to audiobooks on my drive to work, lunch breaks, on the drive home, whilst cleaning/cooking, gardening or even just lying under the sun on a recliner holding a cold glass of juice...yes, I listen all the time now and as a result I've been able to enjoy so much books and am running out of authors/books. I love these authors:
Matthew Reilly,
Jeremy Robinson,
Vince Flynn,
Brad Thor,
Noah Boyd,
Ben Coes,
Jack Coughlin,
Eric Van Lustbader,
Barry Eisler,
Mark Greaney and
Stephen Hunter.

I am currently listening to Jeremy Robinson's Chess Team Series- Ragnarok.

I'd love some suggestions of similar authors or books to any of the above authors.

I am eagerly awaiting your recommendations.

Reading/listening always,
Bee

Michael Matula (MichaelDMatula) | 1 comments Hi, there. I'm Mike, and since I don't want to break any rules, I won't mention what I do, though it may involve placing words on a page on occasion.

I'm from Chicago, and I've always enjoyed fantasy and horror novels. C.S. Lewis, Lloyd Alexander, Robert Jordan, Clive Barker and Nancy A. Collins were big influences on me growing up, and helped inspired my love of reading, and of fiction in general. Michael Crichton was also a big favorite of mine.

These days, most of the books I read are of the indie variety. My favorite genres are still fantasy and horror, though. Some things never change, I guess.

message 688: by Roger (new)

Roger Weston | 34 comments Hi Bee,
I enjoy listening to audio books as well. Two popular authors in the genre that I don't see on your list are Steve Berry and Dave Baldacci. Best wishes on discovering more great reads.

Kelsey Jordan | 2 comments Hi everyone!
Kelsey Jordan here. Let's see, I'm a student, wife, & mother who frequently lives in books. I RP on FB, play video games (namely GW2, Rift, & Skyrim), and have a thing for putting the worlds in my head down on paper.
Beyond that I'm pretty boring, socially awkward, and a self-proclaimed homebody struggling to swim in a sea of authors.

message 695: by Karen (new)

Karen (chippyreader) | 4 comments Hello Everyone!

Well, my name is Karen and I will read just about anything though I am most partial to science fiction, urban fantasy, horror, paranormal romance (hot or otherwise), fantasy (dark), mysteries, and anything with vampires or shifters. The only thing I draw the line at are biographies, true crime stories, and historical novels.

I love to watch television and go to movies. I am a serious star trek fan (all except maybe Enterprise) and loved most of the movies, even the new ones where they rewrote the history. I watch things like Walking Dead, Supernatural, Elementary, and Once Upon A Time. I don't like most movies made from books, especially those books I really loved, I tend to be super critical. But I have seen a few that were tolerable. :)

I wish I could say that I write, but I suck at it. Unless you count poetry, reviews, and reports for work. Guess that's enough, but I'm glad to be here.

Hi
I'm Gary Morris (Gary A.M.Morris to avoid confusion with the other author Gary Morris). I am the author of two recently released books on Kindle: 'The Journals of The Guardian' Book1 'Dawn of a Hero' . and 'Miao Shan' 'The Awakening'.
Both books are the first of a series. Both are YA, paranormal fantasy, and the Guardian is also sci fi.
I am currently trying to organise a massive give way of both books, via Amazon. So if you would like a free Kindle copy, please contact me so I can organise a way of letting you know when to download the books .
