Adam Gainer (authoradamgainer) | 9 comments Hey people!

Been dreaming of being a writer for just about my entire life. It was never because I wanted to make money, but because I wanted to share my writing with people. I enjoy seeing people's reactions and emotions when they read my work.

Now, thanks to Amazon Kindle, I have published three books, with the fourth coming out in September. They definitely waver around the lines of the horror/thriller genre but I intend to write differently as time goes on.

I thought joining the group may help me to spread my writing so more people can read and enjoy my books.

I look forward to the conversations with all of you!

James Bisceglia | 7 comments Hello all. My name is Jim. I love any good book, and becoming lost in the story. I have a beautiful wife and a lovely daughter. Feel free to drop me a line, I'm kinda weird so watch out!

Grace Hamilton | 50 comments G'day, Grace here, it's so wonderful meeting you all on Goodreads....best wishes from Oz

Just Let Me Read ~ Kathy (justletmereadkathy) Maggie.... Have a look at my TBR on my profile. I could definitely help you fill it. So far, the books on here are from my Kindle. My nook HD is full and I have yet a notebook of books and series' that I want to read... Welcome..
I am new also.. I'm Kathy and I'm a book/reading addict. I have always loved to read, even as a teen. Now it is an escape. I do not limit myself with the type of books I read. Generally, I'm open to all genres. If can keep hold my attention and doesn't have a cliff hanger, it will work. I don't care for Aliens are a Genre. As an older adult, I really shy away from YA. Every other genre has possible treasures. My favorite is Paranormal Romance. I do reviews for a small blog. I'm excited to be here...
Kathy

Welcome Jim!

What kind of books do you like? And I'm a little weird myself, so the caution tape is double-sided in this case.

James Bisceglia | 7 comments Hello Adam. I like any good story. A few of my favorites include The Godfather, The Hunt for Red October, and lots of science fiction. I'll try and stay on the right side of the tape. Just let me know which side is safe!

To be honest...I'm not quite sure. It looks the same on both sides...which side am I on again?

I'm quite a bit like you in terms of book taste. Anything that captivates me and makes me think is a great read in my eyes.

message 909: by James (new)

James Bisceglia | 7 comments Nothing beats a great story. A break from reality, and a good story does wonders for mental health. I'm getting older, and I need more breaks from reality. I can't wait until I retire and have more time to enjoy what others have written. I just have to make sure I stay on the right side of the tape!

Helen Stephens (lemay) Hi everyone,

I love the romantic classics and I like a good romance, although I prefer the more light hearted comedy romances, like Bridget Jones, to anything over dramatic.
I also really love fantasy fiction - again stuff that is humorous like Terry Pratchett's Discworld novels.

message 917: by Whitney (new)

Whitney Hi. My name is Whitney. I need good books to read. I devour books too fast to find new ones quickly to replace. I have a problem. :)

message 918: by Andrew (new)

Andrew (goodreadscomandrew_kensley) | 11 comments Can't remember if I've introduced myself so...I'm Andrew Kensley, reader and writer of "Seeking Blue."

I love literary fiction now—Jhumpa Lahiri is my fave, but also Updike, Stewart O'Nan, Khaled Hosseini, Andre Dubus III, and non-fiction that I happen to be interested in at the time (baseball—Jonah Keri is awesome; travel (love Bill Bryson and some fun travel memoirs), etc. I really cut my teeth on old school sci-fi like Michael Crichton (read pretty much everything he wrote) and crime drama like Thomas Harris and Nelson Demille.

I truly love reading anything with solid characterization and quality prose. I love complex relationships and 3D characters, and inner meanings. Not really into the fluffy stuff. There I am, in a nutshell.

message 919: by Andrew (new)

Andrew (goodreadscomandrew_kensley) | 11 comments Thanks Ceri! I like to keep my brain engaged. And yes, I am enjoying it! Good way to network and learn about who's out there!

I am currently reading The Exorcist (for a 2nd time) in prep for a 2nd novel I am currently working on titled Agent of God. Thanks for the open invite!

message 924: by Sterna (new)

Sterna Kruger (sternakruger) | 4 comments Warm hallo from South-Africa!

Wow what a group!...pretty sure some people around my office now think I'm a little crazy as I laughed myself into oblivion at some of the posts...love it!

I LOVE reading, mostly anything with a happy ending (as cliche as that sounds, I'm all about the happy ending) don't really care what form the characters come in, what they eat, hunt, do in their spare time...as long as i get my happy ending :)

Movies / TV series are no.4 on my fave things to do list (1.Writing; 2.Reading; 3.Riding off road) ...Action, Comedy, Romantic Comedy, Sci-fi...anything really except drama - cause i cry...always (no laughing please - but Lion King and Free Willy will not be seeing me again any time soon)

I talk...a lot...as you can see - so feel free to quiet me down every now and then.

Looking forward to sharing with everyone!

Sunshine Greetings

It seems I have been writing since I can remember! I love that this site is about the person, not so much their work. Thanks!

Rafeeq O. | 2 comments Hello, Everyone--

My first reading interests are usually in SF, though I do have other tastes as well. My academic publications are mainly on authors like Ray Bradbury and Robert A. Heinlein, but my recent novel, Student Body, is best classified as "literary fiction," I suppose.

Elizabeth SaFleur | 7 comments Hi, I've been meaning to introduce myself for what seems like forever. I read mostly women's fiction and erotic romance. But, I've enjoyed a lot of fantasy and sci-fi in the last few decades. My PR career has pretty much cured me of reading non-fiction. (If I never read another book on customer satisfaction, branding and leadership, it'd be okay with me. ;-)) Oh, and I'm also a new writer of erotic romance. Cheers! ~Elizabeth

message 936: by Jamie (new)

Jamie Sheffield (jamiesheffield) | 3 comments I'm a Special Education teacher living in Northern New York with my wife and 12 year old son and 2 rescue Labradors in a small house in a big forest.

I like to read primarily mysteries and thrillers and science fiction. I also enjoy camping and cooking and geocaching and canoeing and reading online articles/blogs in my vastly varied fields of interests.

I teach in the only public school in New York State that has been granted a liquor license, and live in a small town that is frequently the coldest spot in the lower 48 states.

I look forward to exploring this group and getting to know the place.

Thanks,

Jamie

Jody Spencer (joeyjojrshabado) | 1 comments Hello! Who doesn't love a good book club?!? I adore pretty much all types of books except I'm not a big fan of romance.

I'm a mom of 2 and a perpetual volunteer for various non-profits, committees, and school/sport events.

You'd be hard pressed to ever find me without a book on hand.

message 939: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Stuart | 33 comments Welcome Jamie

That is all very interesting, but my first thought, for once, wasn't about books.

What do you use for geocaching? I have yet to find a gadget that will download and obviously you have.

I found a cache by chance, out walking my dogs, and I've been fascinated, and frustrated, ever since.

Elizabeth (Elizabeth_Anglin) | 2 comments Hello, I am Elizabeth, I write memoirs about paranormal/extraterrestrial experiences, and I plan to write western historical fiction and environmental fiction in the future. CS Lewis and Tolkein are dearest to my heart, as is Phillip K. Dick, but western fiction entertains me, especially works by Larry McMurtry (the serial killer of every great character - I mean, the man killed GUS.)and Craig Johnson. I live in the mountain back-country and I drive a truck. Don't mess with my red pony mare. She'll bite you.

message 947: by Steven (last edited Oct 08, 2014 12:37AM) (new)

Steven (goodreadscomstevenkerry) Hi. I'm Steven. I favor reading classic literature, but am also ever interested in what gay authors are doing these days. Most recently I was blown away by Jack London's The Sea Wolf, a book I mistakenly thought would be the equivalent of watching a John Wayne movie. Instead it offered plenty of philosophical and spiritual food for thought along with all the peril at sea, and was no less homo-erotic than Billy Budd t'boot. I am now enjoying H.P. Lovecraft's Tales, the perfect book to get one in the mood for Halloween.
