My name is Sean Kerr, I am 46 and I live in Cardiff Wales.

I run a small interiors shop in Cardiff with my fantastic business partner Jayne, but my one passion is writing. I have been lucky enough in that eXtasy books has taken me on as one of their authors, so my life long desire of publication has come true! I will post details about my début novel in the appropriate folder, but for now I just wanted to say hello, and thank you for having me xx

message 1056: by Grace (new)

Grace McCabe (grace_mccabe) | 4 comments Hi all - I'm Grace, and I'm 42 and live in Estes Park, Colorado. I'm an avid reader (and writer) of mostly romance and paranormal romance fiction. But I also like fantasy, thrillers, and a good mystery once and a while. I've had some short stories published in traditional print magazines, but I'm trying the self-publishing route as an author to hopefully reach a wider audience.

I use a Kindle paperwhite reader (kinda old, but still works fine). As for hobbies, I'm into outdoor recreation, photography, and watching my hubby race motocross in the summer.

Anyway, I look forward to being a part of the group, and finding out what great new books people are reading.

Jason Rosette (jasonrosette) | 1 comments Hi -

I've been primarily a writer-director for motion media (movies, etc) til now but am pivoting back to publishing my own fiction and hybrid fiction. I made a book-related documentary a while back called 'BookWars', about street booksellers in New York City, and some other projects since then. Anyway, I look forward to meeting with some folks here and reading some homegrown work ~ All the Best, Jason Rosette www.jasonrosette.com

Demetrius Sherman | 3 comments I am Demetrius
Growing up I read hard boiled detective stories by Hammett, Chandler and others. I also read Conan Doyle
Misery by Stephen King is the one of his works that I like

I was accepted at Hogwarts, but I couldn't find Platform Nine and Three-Quarters.

I applied to Unseen University of Ankh-Morpork, but all they would offer me was a degree in optometry.

I wasn't able to force my way into the Jedi Academy.

So I stayed at home and started writing books.

message 1073: by G.k. (last edited Sep 06, 2016 06:32PM) (new)

G.k. Parker | 1 comments I'm Pat Brown. I'm an author, but I'm also a voracious reader and usually have anywhere from 3 to 5 books on the go at the same time, often a mix of non-fiction research material and fiction that ranges from contemporary crime fiction to dystopian sf, historical, science fiction and horror. There's very little I won't read, only the quality of the book affects my pleasure.

I'm Canadian, but lived in L.A. for several memorable years. I'm retired now, but I was a network engineer, though I've held jobs as diverse as census taker and stablehand, so I consider myself a joat (Jack of all trades) in many areas.

message 1077: by Monica (new)

Monica Starkman | 2 comments Hello, people.
I am a psychiatrist/novelist. I have written many psychiatric/research papers, but only this May did I become a published novelist. I had many reasons to write fiction. The main one is that I wanted to give something back to the world of literature, as I had drawn so much pleasure from it since I learned how to read (and before that, being read to.) I also wanted to show that mentally ill people are not that different from the rest of us, and deal with two topics of personal shame and stigma: mental illness and infertility/miscarriage. I had to teach myself to write fiction, but I do think my prior non-fiction writing did help me: for example, learning to edit out sentences that didn't push forward the main idea (or story or character development, in the case of fiction. )

message 1078: by Alicia (new)

Alicia Dean (alicia_dean) Hi....I'm Alicia Dean, and my favorite genre is suspense. I have a hard time finding good, solid suspense books that I enjoy. I am not into romantic suspense lately. I love a good police procedural, psychological thriller, and/or serial killer book. I hope to find some good recommendations here. I live in Edmond, Oklahoma, and I am a huge Elvis fan, and I love MLB and watch WAY too much tv. :) So nice to be here!

message 1079: by Audrey (new)

Audrey | 1 comments I've been a reader all my life and a writer most of my life. I have wide-ranging tastes, with an emphasis on literary. I studied literature in college, where I discovered Faulkner, Borges, and Woolf. Some of my favorite contemporary authors are Margaret Atwood, Joyce Carol Oates, Ann Patchett, T.C. Boyle, and Ian McEwan. I'm also a devotee of the great new TV that's been produced in the last 10-15 years, from The Sopranos to Breaking Bad. I love great storytelling wherever I find it, and lately I've been reading more non-fiction.

message 1081: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Hello Everyone,

I've been a member of Goodreads for several years now, but I have to admit I've been easily overwhelmed trying to navigate my way around. I've tended to shy away from the groups here, but recently, I decided to reach out beyond my own Goodreads profile. I want to get a better feel for how the site is fully intended to work for readers and authors alike.

I'll be upfront and mention that I'm a Contemporary Romance author, but my intentions aren't to spam the groups I participate in or look for every opportunity to talk about my own works. I really do enjoy the online community of readers, bloggers, graphic artists and fellow authors. I have grown a fabulous network of friends on other social media sites and now I hope to grow my community here on Goodreads.

Happy Reading,
Jennifer :)

message 1082: by F.C. (new)

F.C. Schaefer | 14 comments Hello fellow readers and authors, I am a lifelong lover of good books and an amateur writer in the best and worst sense of the word. The best being that I always wanted to put pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard) and create stories and characters that other readers would love to spend time with; I so much want to make people feel the same joy I did when I finished Salem's Lot for first time or the ecstasy of dread when I reached the last page of Ghost Story. And I'm an amateur in the worst sense in that I constantly fear that my enthusiasm far out strips my talent.

I'm a huge fan of horror and fantasy, and a life long reader of comic books and manga, all of which have had a big influence on my writing. My library is filled with biographies and history books, a wealth of knowledge I have put to use in a couple of alternate history stories. My movie tastes have always run toward the classic genre films of the western, horror and gangster types. From my earliest memory, I have always had a love of a good story well told. Besides alternate history, my other published works are a pair of vampire novels, which reflects my affection for old school monsters.

So glad to be here at Goodreads with so many of my fellow readers and authors, so many good people with so much in common.

Thank you,
F.C. Schaefer

Danyal Fryer (danyalfryer) | 2 comments Hello everyone!

My name is Danyal Fryer, and I'm a horror, sci-fi and detective fiction writer (as well as English Lecturer and avid roleplayer).

I've just finished by first novel (won't be mentioning here) and am currently going through the publishing process, and I am looking to network to readers and authors alike, in order to share my experience and give back to the community.

What else? I absolutely adore mythology and language, and is currently one of my research areas (conducting research in the build up to a PhD). Travelling is also something I love, and I've been fortunate enough to travel a lot, although it is tiring.

If anyone has any questions or wants to contact me about anything, then feel free too... I won't bite :D

Much thanks,

Danyal

Rebecca Forster (rebeccaforster) | 36 comments Hi guys, I'm an author (please don't kick me off) and a reader and a traveler. Been publishing for over 30 years mostly thrillers. Just got back from a month in Albania where my husband was teaching. We travel whenever we can and I often use our destinations in my writing. His project will be awesome but it's still tough for the mom in me to have him gone so long and in odd places. That's about it. I'm still trying to figure out how to properly use Goodreads but I do love coming upon threads like this one to see all the neat people who love books the way I do. Have a great one
