To love Anne of Green Gables and mafia stories, too. That is really interesting to me. Now, I can't stop trying to imagine Anne of Green Gables Crime Family Sagas.

Cate Dean (catedean) | 1 comments Thank you for the invite, Travis!

Hi all - my name is Cate Dean, and I am a paranormal/fantasy author, and a book junkie.

I will read pretty much anything that holds my interest, but I love a good suspense with some romance thrown in, and I am loving the contemporary fantasy out today. I find myself reading loads of YA, because it is so well written, and the characters are not set in their ways, like adults. ;)

I look forward to sharing my addiction with you all. :)

Hi, Yvonne,

Nice to meet another Anne of Green Gables fan, and especially since you appreciate the "real" story behind Anne and her clan. I bet that little house she lived in on that quaint little Island was a front for money laundering.

"Don't ever go against the family." Can't you just picture her saying that? :)

Hi, Alisa, I'm a fellow foodie as well. I love to cook and bake, and pretend I'm on Top Chef and of course in my mind, I've won the title. :) Love trading recipes as well. I admire your gardening passion, I have a black thumb, but I'm great at delegating, suggesting where I'd like things planted to my husband. LOL

Looking forward to getting to know you and some of your favorite recipes.

Being from Atlantic Canada, I love of the idea of Anne of Green Gables being Mafia (although in these parts it would probably be the Irish Mafia).

Hi. A.F., I'm from Eastern Ontario, nice to meet a fellow Canukian. :)

Irish mob will work perfectly for Anne, but in reality she should be part of the Russian mob because her "real" parents were Russian and her "real" name is Anya. Let's throw in a Motorcycle Gang as well. Her bestie Diana is actually a biker babe. (I know, I am so out of control with this LOL)

Christopher, this looks like a great group concept. I enjoy reading across a genre spectrum, including older novels from libraries and re-reads from my collection. Question is whether others are interested in books that have been around awhile. (Many have become available as eBooks via Amazon and others.)

Alice (alicekober) | 2 comments Hi, My name is Alice. I buy adult fiction for my library district in Colorado. I read widely--literary fiction, romance, paranormal, mystery, horror, humor. I prefer contemporary fiction and nonfiction that reads like fiction. Character and dialogue are key. Great worldbuilding is always fun. Too much action is boring. I don't like books where everyone is dead at the end.

Katie (katiehayoz) | 7 comments Hi, thanks for the invite! My name is Katie Hayoz. I write YA and read everything, but YA paranormal is where my passion is. I love dark stories but not dark endings! I'm originally from WI,USA. I have been living in Geneva, Switzerland for 15 years now --it's great here, but I wish there were more showings of movies in English at the cinema! Francine | 91 comments Hi Everyone,

My name is Francine. I tend to read more historical fiction (primarily British, from the sub-Roman period through the 19th century) although I've certainly read my share of fantasy, sci-fi and YA novels. I will pretty much read anything if it looks interesting or comes highly recommended by friends. And one of my greatest failings is that no matter how much I don't like a book, I will see it through to the bitter end. For me, I think the author, who has spent a lot of time and effort crafting their work, deserves that, at the very least (even if I am not a fan of their work).

I am an aspiring novelist and have decided not to start small, so I am tackling the Matter of Britain: the Arthurian mythos.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to this group, seeing what it's about, and meeting some new folks.

Karen Avivi (karen_avivi) | 5 comments Thank you, S. M. McEachern for the invite.

Hi, I’m Karen and I enjoy reading and writing contemporary young adult fiction. It’s great to see so many YA readers here! My favourite authors include John Green, Laurie Halse Anderson, Francisco X. Stork, and Suzanne Supplee.

My first book, Shredded, about girls who ride BMX bikes was just released. I’m working on my next one, but there are so many YA novels in my TBR pile all I want to do is curl up and read. Luckily, the weather in Montreal is just starting to move past the melting slush stage so my favourite outdoor reading and writing spots should be available soon. Winter is leaving. : ) Even though I don’t read a lot of fantasy, I’m considering reading George R.R. Martin’s books because I’m completely addicted to the Game of Thrones HBO series and I want more!

Yay!), a Science Geek, and a person who is not granted the liberty of much sleep, so, often, I'm a little spaced out or jacked up on too much caffeine. (You can tell the difference by noting when my eyes are either half closed or bugging out of my head) I read everything from boring historical biographies to Theoretical Physics to general fiction and anything in-between. (I have a real problem with putting anything under a label or inside a box to enjoy...I don't believe in limitations.) Thanks, Chris. Boy, considering you just posted this invite 5 minutes ago, that's a pretty staggering list of responses. I'm a writer of fiction for young people. I'm also a mother of three sons. I live in New Zealand, speaking of which, I'm the biggest fan of our NZ director, Peter Jackson. I loved the LoTR, and The Hobbit! Fantasy and speculative fiction as well as movies and tv programs rock my world. The Avengers in 3D had to be one of top fave movies.

message 234: by Michele (new)

Michele | 2 comments Thanks for the invite, I am an author and I love books. My genre of choice is fantasy/ fiction, but I also enjoy sic-fi, adventure and mystery novels. I have not spent much time on this site; my rule of thumb is, "I do not read other works while I write." However, I recently finished editing my third book and have not begun writing anything new. Therefore I am looking for a fun light hearted novel to fill the void. I have not read anything new in a while, so I welcome suggestions. Thanks again...

Rose D'Andrea (Rose_DAndrea) | 1 comments Hi! I'm Rose D'Andrea. My favorite authors are Terry Pratchett and Georgette Heyer (her romances, really). Favorite books are Frederica (by Georgette Heyer), Where's My Cow? (by Terry Pratchett), and Agnes And The Hitman (by Jennifer Crusie and Bob Mayer).
I'm a chocoholic with hypoglycemia. I have an awesome husband, and we're working toward affording kids.

I am twiddling with the last details of a book of clean bathroom poetry, and feel like I'm blundering my way through writing a couple of novels (romantic suspense, and romantic adventure).

I write romance and romantic suspense, although on my own time I read mysteries; e.g., I collected everything written by Dick Francis, and now his son's books. A cozy mystery with romance and paranormal elements is my perfect go-to book for entertainment.

I blog the second Tuesday of every month at romancingthegenres.blogspot.ca. My April 9 post describes how I, a professional engineer, revealed to my male colleagues that I write hot romance.

Hey guys, (universal)
Thanks to Dianne Harman for the invitation. I'm a nurse in Knoxville, Tn. and I like all kinds of books. Mystery, Romance, Drama...but usually multiple genre books. I get bored and can predict a single genre outcome so mixing it up is a usually satisfying. I don't read fast because I like to dissect every book and learn. Just habit now so I go with it. I have read some great books from Goodfriends' recommendations so I look forward to the collaboration.
Take care all,
