Authors: Get Visible, Get Found & Make Sales! (Marketing, tours, publishing & more) discussion
Introduce yourself

I am interested in supporting other indie offers. I love reading and writing. If you connect, I will read your books and write reviews.
I look forward to being a member of this group! I am glad I found this group.

Well, my name is Su Williams. I self-pubbed my first novel titled Dream Weaver through CreateSpace back in March. It is a YA paranormal fiction novel set in the snowy winter of Eastern Washington State. So far I've garnered mostly 4 & 5 star reviews but the process is extremely slow. I recently pitched the manuscript to 4 agents and got requests for pages from 3 of them. In a holding pattern now awaiting their responses.
OK, so here's how you can contact me:
[email protected]
http://www.dreamweavernovels.com/
http://dreamweavernovels.blogspot.com/ (I'm always looking for great author sites and author interviews to feature on my blog. I get 700-800 visits per month. Not huge but it makes me happy)
https://twitter.com/DreamWeaver526
https://www.facebook.com/pages/Dream-... I follow back on FB and Twitter
You can read an excerpt of Dream Weaver here on Goodreads, you just have to identify it as the one by Su Williams.
I look forward to chatting with everyone!

Hi Sharon, I'd love to connect and swap/review books. Let me know!

I'm here to let you know that my blog is open to all authors want to promote their books...it's free.

New author JP here, horror/thrillers. I've been doing my best to manage the quagmire that is marketing and self-promotion. Hope I can learn a lot here and will share all experiences that worked for me with you. Nice to meet you all!

I love to write and read anything that interests me. I don't really have a set topic for either one, too. As for reading, if I'm interested, I'll read. I also review pretty strongly, so be warned if you ever ask me to read/review something.
As for writing, right now I'm doing the final editing stage of my science fiction romance (first chapter found on my goodreads profile), and getting back into the Agent Game for it. I'm also writing a New Adult Vampire romance story (again, first chapter found on my profile).

Below is a blurb about my recently published novel Sakoon, available at Amazon.com (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00EPX7VGE). I have just started advertising via a beta ad program on goodreads for self-pubished authors. Is anyone else using it? Other thoughts on book marketing? Thanks!
Sakoon is the story of one young woman’s courage to raise her voice against tyranny and injustice. The time is the early 1980s. Pakistan is pressed between the Soviet Union, now occupying Afghanistan, and its archenemy India. As if that were not enough, the country is torn from within by ethnic conflict and violent demonstrations to restore democracy. Dictator General Zia-ul-Haq turns to religion and jihad as the twin saviors of the crumbling state.
Growing up in Karachi, Pakistan, Sakeena is a carefree girl who falls in love with Rohan, her brother’s best friend. As Zia-ul-Haq attempts to Islamize the country, Sakeena and Rohan are caught unexpectedly in the erupting ethnic conflict due to events beyond their control. Rohan makes a haunting choice when he is caught suddenly in the middle of a gunfight. Sakeena exposes violence on her campus, landing her in trouble with the powerful Islamists. Their only potential savior is an ISI spy, who is seeking his own redemption for his family’s shameful past.
Sakoon is the author’s sincere attempt to explore his late mother’s yearning for the Karachi she was forced to leave in 1947. Herself a victim of ethnic cleansing, she was never to return and left always to wonder why—and to wonder what happened to the place she once called home, to her neighbors and friends, and to the immaculate avenues washed weekly but smeared eventually with innocent blood.

I am a young adult writer with one self-published e-book, Red Rock Ranch. In addition to working on the sequel, I'm always looking for new ways to promote Red Rock Ranch! Hoping to run across some tips via this group... :)

My name is Melissa Gill and I have just published my first novel, Salt and the Sea Venture. It's a Middle Grade novel for kids 8-12, about the voyage of the Sea Venture. In 1609 9 ships sailed from England to Virginia to re-supply the struggling colony of Jamestown. One, the Sea Venture, didn't make it. Fortunately all the passengers did. The tale is told from the point of view of a ships cat, an easily overlooked passenger, with the keen power of observation only known to felines. It is currently available as an e-book through Amazon and Barnes and Noble.

Rude and sarcastic, Ex-Officer Henry Clay wants nothing to do with his new roommate and doesn't mask any hard feelings, only secrets. His wheelchair gives Prue a glimpse of his tragic past and she can't fight curiosity as more clues come her way, opening her eyes to the true stranger she's been sent to live with—and possibly, meant to help save.
But Prue has a secret too, one that risks more than just her own life. Can these two come together to keep her safe, or will the truth only push them further apart?

Adirondack Moments
Hello,
I am new in this group & here is some background info.
I am retired from teaching forestry for 30 years at Paul Smith's College located in the Adirondacks near Lake Placid, in northern New York State. Over the years my students often asked the question: what is good forest management? I changed the question to: what should the human relationship be with nature & have done a fair amount of research on this subject especially in the area of "environmental values & ethics." Some of the books I read on these subjects are in my book list.
My research eventually motivated me to write THE FORESTER. The main plot theme of this novel is "conflicting environmental values," which is presented & dramatized by various characters. While values was a major theme the story also developed as an adventure story & a love story & this helps to make the characters & plot more interesting & realistic and made the book more fun to write & to read.
My "click on" book page above goes into more detail on THE FORESTER.
While writing, trout fishing, hiking, canoeing, cross country skiing, forestry, teaching, raising 2 kids, keeping my wife happy & building a house occupied much of my time (list is not in any order of importance) I also have an interest in photography & began photographing the Adirondacks & showed an ongoing slide show to my students. At the end of my teaching career I published ADIRONDACK MOMENTS with Firefly Books, a photo book of this incredible region.
I am interested in hearing from folks about their views on environmental values & ethics & their views on the human relationship with nature & what they have read or written on these subjects.
So, if you have a few minutes, please send me some words.
James Kraus

I'm new to Goodreads. I have already written three books in the Dare to Change Life series (self-help) and am busy writing my fourth book. I self-published them in a mini-book format for my clients and workshops but they have never been available on Amazon. I will only publish the first one in ebook format on Amazon in September, and then the others after that. I have a lot to do in the meantime with regards to establishing my ‘author platform’ and working with social media etc. There is quite a bit more to a book launch than I knew about! Hoping to get some tips from this group.
Thanks for having me.
Best,
Millen
