The cliffhanger was crazy. When I first read this book, I needed the next book right away. I think I read the whole series in less than a week. (hide spoiler)]

Huh...you just helped me realize why I like Penryn so much. (view spoiler)[ The fact that her character fits so well with this chaotic story made me love her. You're right she's not like all the badass heroines in YA novels that are cool, smart or tough. Nope. She's just a normal girl thrust into an apocalyptic world and needs to survive. She's not cool and witty. She doesn't have good comebacks and her threats don't really sound threatening at all. She fights dirty with no finesse or technique because that's the only way she knows how to fight. She's exactly what any teenage crazy girl would be if the world ended and managed to survive the big bad end of days.

And I laughed pretty hard about the part where she hits Raffe with a rock. I almost forgot about that part! She threw it full force to! She missed both times. She hit one of the enemies her first try but it wasn't the one she was aiming for. The second time, she hit Raffe! (hide spoiler)]

Up to Chapter 23: (view spoiler)[Ha! We finally meet Dee and Dum. I love these guys. The Spymasters! They definitely make my favorites list for favorite characters in this series. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 42: (view spoiler)[ I don't know what to think of this new Paige. Is she only feral towards those that harm her family? Paige's self-control seems precarious at the moment, and I think Penryn needs to stay on her guard around her sister.
I'm stumped by the angels' actions, turning little children into flesh-eating demons. What possible gain could they see in making monsters, then releasing them to the wild? Perhaps this is part of a new & improved anti-human war plan. (hide spoiler)]

Done. (view spoiler)[ A lot of open ends here. That scorpion poison wearing off seemed like an awfully convenient plot point to me. Raffe thinks Penryn is dead when she's actually totally fine. Romeo and Juliet style.
Then there's the whole demon/hell plot Susan Ee just barely hinted at, with the guy who randomly stole Raffe's wings.
I feel so bad for the people who read this right after it came out and had to wait many months for the next installment. The ending was not a real cliffhanger but it might as well have been, wlooking at all the questions I was left with. (hide spoiler)]

Does anyone on this thread want to keep going with the series? I'd love to buddy read World After soon.

World After is happening on June 22nd. I will be reading the book at that time if you guys want to join?

(view spoiler)[Super gripping start, with Paige being stolen right away! And I'm really invested in Penryn and Raffe's relationship. I think this is how a good enemy to lovers should be. There's enough tension and distrust, and then we slowly get fun banter and them saving each other and questioning why. Sure, she's telling herself she's doing it because she needs him to save her sister, but we all know that's not all. Ugh, I already love their dynamic a lot and can't wait for them to be together. I love how we are finding more out about Raffe!! He's a watcher? I wonder if he had a human wife back in the day and was set as an example by allowing him to live...

I was wondering the same about Laylah. Especially considering what she ends up doing.

Okay so based on what everyone said Gabriel could've manipulated them all into coming to Earth and starting this whole thing? Seems like a very flawed system that only one angel supposedly knows the will of God. I have a suspicion that this whole thing is fake. But I really loved this book, I'm surprised it's not more popular! Especially during all the days when angels were all the YA rage. Not one of them was as good as this one and I'm sad I missed this until now. Definitely going to continue to read the rest. Also, the main couple did not get together in book one! I've personally been yelling about writers needing to do this to let their relationship develop better but in this one I actually wanted them to, that's how good their chemistry is. (hide spoiler)]

I agree, seems a bit fishy about the entire ordeal about Gabriel sending the angels down to earth to begin with. I wonder if it's a bigger plan for the arcdemons to take over...

THIS WAS SUCH A GOOD BOOK! I don't know why it's not raved about more online?? LOVE how the main characters left off with tension and hope they will get back together again! I'm hoping Penryn doesn't have any side effects to vemon.. also I was practically screaming in joy during her fighting scenes! heck yeah.. <?spoiler>

Yes I definitely will! Not sure if you have Kindle Unlimited but they're all on there I believe. It may have to be late Feb for me since I have a lot lined up already, but I definitely want to read the next two books.

I somehow found a code to get kindle unlimited for 2 months free so I’ll definitely be able to read the rest of the series! End of feb works best for me :) we can reach out to each other late in the month to find a date that works best if that’s okay with you?
