The fallen angels being good or bad depends on why they fell. Lucifer is a fallen angel and he's bad but not because of his disagreement with heaven. He's bad because he's a bad guy(or angel, whatever).

So if an angel falls because he/she disagrees with heaven's decision to destroy all humanity, then does that mean they're bad?

Have you read any of the other angel books? I wasn't a big fan of or or even . I'm not done with this one, so I have to wait and see. Several GR friends told me this series was one of the best in the angel genre.

I haven't read any other angel books that I can think of. But I'm planning to read Daughter of Smoke and Bone as soon as I'm done with at least a few of the series that I'm currently in the middle of.

Yeah, I'm just not comfortable with fallen angels being the good guys. If they were called demons, people would be surprised if they were good. And it irks me that the "good angels" are always really arrogant, stuffy or such jerks.

And I never quite buy that a super cool angel would bother with a human girl. Kind of like fairy royalty falling in love with a weak non-magical human. Why?

After 33 Chapters: (view spoiler)[Who knew you should party like an angel? Like the tuxedos with slits and the human girls in hot dresses. Of course, Raffe would be Raphael, which would make him an archangel. But kind of a sad story that his group were all destroyed because they got lonely and consorted with humans.

Surely Raffe would've recognized the twins from the camp. Do you warn him or not? What about finding Paige?

Finished: The last 60 pages were Great, except for the cliffhanger! (view spoiler)[ Who is making the scorpion angel mutations? They crossed Raffe and gave him Beliel's bat-like/demon wings and gave Beliel Raffe's angel wings. I never saw that coming, though I didn't trust them. It was so sad when Raffe's sword rejected him.

Poor Paige, what did they do to her? Why are they doing that to children? So Paige is now a cannibal?!

I'm glad that the Resistance blew up the aerie. But I don't understand why the angels are killing humans, making mutations and fighting amongst themselves.

Started this one a few hours early, 'cause I have some free time.

Chapter 7: (view spoiler)[ I like Penryn, but why is her name so hard to pronounce?
Also, crazy mom is giving me the creeps. It feels like she is going to snap and do something really stupid soon.

Also, I forgot to say: I think I'm more scared of Penryn's mother than the angels. I mean, that is one crazy lady.

Chapter 28: (view spoiler)[ Love the club thing. The kiss was really cool. But then Raffe turned into a complete idiot.

Chapter 40: (view spoiler)[ Dear author, I was wrong. The one thing scarier in this book is not Penryn's mother, it's her sister. And while the mother is fun in a crazy way, the sister is just scary. Please kill her.

Through Chapter 7: (view spoiler)[ Snow is awesome so far. He gets mutilated by his own kind but still finds the energy to crack sarcastic jokes, that's true dedication.
I have one concern about Angelfall so far though. How come Penryn's mother wasn't institutionalized many years ago? I know mental institutions get a bad rep, but if she was so mentally ill that she permanently disfigured her own baby daughter (holy hell!), then yeah, she needed to be committed immediately. For her own protection and for the safety of her family. Any harm Penryn's mother caused the family thereafter is Penryn's father's fault, if you ask me, for not committing his wife. Besides, her mom should have had the sense to lock herself away, especially since she was lucid enough to know her illness presented a danger to her daughters. Penryn wouldn't have needed all those martial arts lessons if her mom hadn't been around to potentially hurt her.
Anyway that bothered me.

I believe they explained it later on in the book but it's been a while since I read this, so I could be wrong. But you're right, that is weird. This book is definitely in a whole other realm when it comes to story telling. That's the only thing I'm sure of though I do like the concept so far, of the angels being the not so good guys for once.

Like Kirsty I'm wondering what the angels are apparently abducting children for. In my mind I'm imagining satanic rituals involving innocents' blood or something, but that doesn't seem very angelic. Even for this particular breed of angel. (hide spoiler)]

100% agree with your way of thinking Helen. (view spoiler)[ I ship Penryn and Raffe so hard and I need to know what the angels are doing with children, highly doubt it's anything good though since they do seem to be responsible for the end of the world. (hide spoiler)]

Up to chapter 17: (view spoiler)[ I really like Raffe and I agree that there is obviously a spark between him and Penryn. It is interesting how angels are being shown as evil as they are usually the good ones. (hide spoiler)]

Up to chapter 15: (view spoiler)[ I love that there's no lack of violence, brutality and chaos in this book. That's how I imagined an apocalyptic and dystopian world would be and having those elements in this book just makes the world building much more realistic. Ironically, the one creating chaos in the this world are angels. That's one of the reasons I really liked this book. Angels are portrayed differently. I also really like Raffe and Penryn (hide spoiler)]

For the most part, I liked that the book was chaotic. It sold me the whole apocalyptic dystopian world so much more. However, I do agree that there may have been scenes or elements in this book that were not necessary and strayed off from the plot. How are you liking it so far though? (hide spoiler)]

This is the first angel book I've ever read and it's certainly different from what I imagined angel books being about. They all sound more love focused while this...is definitely anything but.

Has anyone here watched Dominion? The setting of Angelfall reminds me so much of that tv show. Basically in Dominion God disappears from Earth randomly and the archangel Gabriel (joined by most other angels) tries to eradicate humanity since he blames them. A single angel (Michael) decides to fight for humanity.
It reminded me of this book since both have evil angels bringing on the apocalypse. I loved dominion and I'm really liking this too.

Finished: (view spoiler)[ I really enjoyed this book. I loved the characters and it was so fast paced that I couldn't put it down. I found the whole book to be interesting but towards the end was particularly interesting. I wonder what the angels were doing with those scorpion things, I imagine we'll find out in the next book. The ending is such a cliffhanger and I need the next book as I can't wait to see what will happen. I hope that they'll be able to help Paige in the next book. (hide spoiler)]

Through Chapter 23: I laughed so hard when (view spoiler)[Penryn accidentally chucked a rock at Raffe while he was right in the middle of saving her ass lmao. That was so realistic! That's what I would be like in a crisis, not at all like all those badass heroines in other YA novels. (hide spoiler)]
