I took a shot a putting together a trailer and it was more fun that I had thought it would be. This is the trailer for my upcoming novel Peninsula - A Gullah Haunting. Peninsula is a multi genre book that combines Southern Fiction, thriller and historical fiction set in the Holy City, Charleston SC.

I've done several trailers but I think the jury is still out as to whether doing one makes much difference sales wise. Does anyone have any numbers proving one way or another whether trailers are worth the bother?

I think the problem with most trailers is they're too generic. I also do them because they're really fun. I just think it's a fun marketing addition. my book is heavy metal , so of course there has to be some loud fun to promote it! I have a few and more to come... but here are a couple:

I love book trailers and did this one with a hugely talented Polish filmmaker Magda Olchawska - it uses my own paintings which is logical since the book is largely based on my own experience as a retiree-turned-artist though I'm a woman and not a man like my protagonist and my marriage has not unraveled (not yet, touch wood!)...

I don't have numbers, or even a final answer. But I can logically say that if it's one more mention of your book, one more link, it surely helps your book title pull up easier, the web can recognize your title as a legitimate subject. As for the trailer making sales on its own...I would guess that depends on the trailer. Some are long and dry and I click out of them before they've even finished. But on rare occasions there is one that is fast paced, but clear. and somehow grabbed my curiosity by the tail and I simply must look into the book. That's a hard trick to pull, but if you can do it, that's when the trailer makes a bigger difference to the sales. But wither way, every bit you do to get your book title recognized by Google is a good thing.

That tune was wonderful! I still have no idea what the story is about, not really. I loved that you kept it short, but it didn't tell me anything...either that or it did, and I was too distracted listening to the music- I really did love that sound!

That was VERY unique! It was missing something, I felt a chunk of it was cut off, then I saw another one-#4. Watched that. Would have liked it better without the toots. The dry comments, so deadpan, are perfect- they don't need the added fart humor to set it off. It actually takes away from the funny comments. But if the videos were put together as one, a complete interview and at least some clues to tell us what the book is about...I'd really want to see it. I really think you're on to something.

I read the clip below the video, and although the music is good, I disagree with your statement. Those pictures you say you did were incredible. I had a hard time deciding if they were photographs! That was talent. But I know little about the book from this. There are boats and a dog. Is this a graphic novel?
