Andrew | 3 comments I'm trying to remember this book...mostly because I never finished it and it's bugging me.

My teacher gave me this in 4th grade, so about 1991.

It started out with this teenager and I forget exactly what happens, but he ends up waking up in this forest. There's no one around and it's really solitary. I want to say he went through a portal, or got knocked out or something.

It's a non-fiction book, felt kinda like sci-fi.

I DO remember the cover, and it a picture of the boy facing the reader and he has his arms kinda out, like he's regaining his balance or something. And the rest of the cover around him is the green forest trees.

Hum, what about The Forgotten Door? It's been around forever and was reprinted in the late 80's so it could, maybe be it?

If Ann's suggestion isn't it, could it be The Magician's Nephew? http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/50...

Oops, no, it was definitely FICTION. My mistake.

So far it hasn't been any of the suggested books. :( I do remember the main character being fairly old, more teenager than child. Anyway, I'm going to try to dig through my childhood stuff to see if I still have it!

Matt O | 2 comments ok bro. I searched the internet for a good hour and a half so I could find this book. When I was searching for it your post was the only one remotely related to the book I was looking for. I remember reading it as a kid, but it's been so long I couldn't remember many details. I did remember the vague detail of him in the forest, running into monkey-like things, meeting a tribe of people, falling in love with a girl, and then realizing that he was actually in some post-apocolyptic future. I know this isn't super clear, but read the summary of the book!

In short, I think this is the book you are talking about: "The Transall Saga" by Gary Paulsen.

Andrew, are you still looking for this? Was it Matt's suggestion of "The Transall Saga?"

Andrew | 3 comments @Lobstergirl

The description sounds like it could be the book. I'm going to have to add it to my reading list to see if it's actually the one.

Andrew, checking back in to see if you have any updates. Have you had a chance to check out Matt's suggestion of The Transall Saga?
