Daniel I've just started these and I'm curious: which ones are the best?

Which are the worst?

I found they were all much the same - an enjoyable read that didn't tax the brain too much. You go through Kinsey's ups and downs in love, life and work throughout the series. So if you like the Kinsey character you, you should like all the books.

I guess I just assumed that like any series it would have it's ups and downs.

I like to do a little "dessert reading" now and again and this seems like a nice new (to me) series that could provide some nice fodder.

David Freas In my opinion, L through O were weaker than those that came before or after. Not that they were bad, just that they weren't as good as the others. A mid-alphabet slump?

Daniel Thanks. I guess she was feeling the weight of a whole series commitment there in the middle.

In the beginning, she was probably excited by the whole idea and now that she's further she's got momentum on her side, but in the middle, the excitement was wearing out and she still felt so far from the end.

Robyn Jones I'm still in the first half of the series, but I really love Kinsey. G is for Gumshoe is my favorite so far. D is for Deadbeat my least favorite. Her early books are forumlaic except for her characters, which are fun and original. Also her books went from little paperbacks to massive hardbacks. So you know her style evolved over the years.

Daniel Oh, they get longer and longer over time?

Grafton gets more descriptive and Kinsey more reflective over time.

Kathy Quasi spoiler alert. I liked G is for Gumshoe the best, also. When I got to the book that mentioned a ghost, that's when I stopped reading them.

Wait, it goes supernatural at some point?

Daniel, have you read all the books so far?

Daniel No, I just started recently. I'm literally on B right now. That's what I was curious about which everyone liked best and which everyone liked worst so I know what I have to look forward to.

It's one of my mom's favorite series, which is why I picked it up. I is for Innocent is my next one.

Maria, maybe I read too much into that particular book. Thanks for the clarification.

Daniel So far, everyone seems to like G is for Gumshoe the best.
