All over the world, 8-foot-by-12-foot sections of brick wall appear out of nowhere and zoom along, striking things in their paths. Cars are wrecked, property is damaged, and many people are killed. What is causing this strange phenomenon? Who is behind it? Can the madman be stopped? Maybe Uncle Bert’s Preposterous Number Theory can explain some things.
If that isn’t enough, some people have to contend with mysterious trails of blood, or something that looks like blood, that lead down into their basements. What is at the end of these trails? Should they even look? People try to remember what their mothers said about following mysterious trails of blood into the dark. What did your mother say?
And no matter what, no one should answer calls from the Death Number on the T-Ville telephone exchange.
Another hilarious Uncle Bert Story from the author of Out of Order Murder Mystery and The Plaid Memorandum.
About Author Bert Paul (in his own words):
I grew up in and around Titusville, PA. I graduated Titusville High School as valedictorian in 1977. I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Westminster College in New Wilmington, PA, 1981, with a double major in math and computer science. Worked for a large computer company for 24 years as software developer, software tester, and information developer (technical writer). I was laid off and am now working as a technical writer for another company.
I like to claim that my short stories are the result of exposing my brain for too long to corporate America. I started writing the stories for my sister’s kids when they were little so they’d have something different from Uncle Bert. Then I decided to start writing again after a long hiatus (due to hectic work schedule and other issues). A former co-worker suggested I see if I could get any of them published.
I have lived in Raleigh, NC since 1983, when the company I worked for transferred me here. I visit my home town occasionally, but consider Raleigh “home” now. I hate cold weather, snow, and ice.
I spend my spare time reading, writing, watching old movies, hunting for my reading glasses or car keys, and taking the occasional out-of-town trip for fun. I am blessed with some good friends, but never met my “Mr. Right”. (Had some fun with some of the Mr. Wrongs, though.) I have lived in the same house for 26 years (all paid for now!) and own too many cars. (Love the ’77 Monte Carlo….looks like new.)
