We bantered about the differences between the WMF Hardcover/Audiobook/Kindle versions and the first printing of the Trade Paperback in this thread.

I finally got a chance to look at, and get a copy of, the recently released MMPB. I wanted to let potentially interested folks know that the differences in Amber's version are present here. A couple notable ones are different chapter titles for 101 and 103 are different and Bast says Jax, not Iax, stole the moon.

Nice.

So now we can safely say, Jax and Iax are the same person.

Joyous occasion!

I suppose it depends on whether subsequent printings revert to the original like the TP did. At the very least, interested geeks temporarily have an easy way to get ahold of this version. The clerk asked me if I'd read the first book.

LOL.

Did you tell the clerk you've gone way past just reading the first book?

I'm eaither leisurely, if you consider it by length of time, or frantically, if you consider how I have to snatch the time to do it, taking a look at the differences between what appear to be two distinct versions of the text of WMF.

I'll post the dry, geeky, bit below, but I wanted to ask folks, particularly Amber, if they cared to confirm whether their copy conformed. We already have a fairly well established sense of Chapter 103. What is your chapter 124 called?

Eratta-tat-tat!

Part One

Chapter Titles: WMF

Printings:

HC - confirmed
Kindle - confirmed
MMPB (1st) - confirmed

TP (1st) - reported
TP (2nd on) - reported

MMPB (2nd on) - unavailable

ARC - as posted on the Rothfuss Reread

Chapter titles are identical except for:

103 - Close Enough to Touch (HC, Kindle, TP 2nd on)
103 - Lessons (TP 1st printing, MMPB 1st)

124 - Of Names (HC, Kindle)
124 - Secrets and Mysteries (MMPB 1st printing)

The ARC is identical until Chapter 96, at which point several chapters appear to be combined, some under different titles, ultimately realigning with the others at 119 with When Words Fail, which is Chapter 121 in all other versions. Jo Walton began using the Kindle version around that point, though, and there’s some confusion about whether the information after that is entirely accurate.
