Henri | 122 comments So some of you may remember me, as being a very active reader and member of this group, and then life happened.
I got a new job, with much less time to read.

Now I am finally reading again (very slowly but surely) and I am just about 100 pages from finishing "Wolves of the calla", all 925 pages taking me just about 14 months to finish.

Anyway, I am just posting, saying hi, and making sure you all know I am still around.

;)

Lauren Smith Hi Henri! *waves*
Your progress with Wolves of the Calla gives me hope about the long book I'm reading - Cryptonomicon by Neal Stephenson. It's over 1000 pages and even without a job it's taken me 3 months to get to 66%. I feel so slack! But as you say - slowly but surely :)

How is the new job going?

Henri | 122 comments The new (old) job is great, but I seriously miss my photography, and would love to get back into that... BUt its just not financially viable.
Haha...

Well and with regards to reading, let me see if I can get through 10 books this year, (Most of them is Stephen King, so 900+ pages) but lets see...

I Really moss all the challenges, but reading 24 books (At least) per year is going to be a bit out of my reach for now. lol.

Hi Henri! Good to have you back. I am glad you like your job.

At least you'll do well in the epic books challenge. :)

If you like, there are mini versions of all the themed Year challenges where you only have to read 10 books. And if you do have a chance to do some photography (or are able to use your old photographs) we have a photography-based reading challenge. It points-based, so you can read as much or as little as you like :)

Henri | 122 comments Hi Lauren, I have seen mention of the mysterious "mini challenges" but I am baffled as to how it works.

Could you explain?

Challenges I like to participate in is generally the epic challenge, and the A-Z challenges.

Lauren Smith The mini challenges are basically short version of the Year Challenges found here: http://www.goodreads.com/topic/group_...

I think the rules are quite simple for each - you read according to the theme of each challenge, but only read 10 books/do 10 tasks instead of the full 25. So for Visiting Old Friends, you just read (or re-read) 10 books by authors whose books you've read before, although you may not read more than 3 books by the same author.
