This was sweet little story about the genius & the jock but it didn't quite work for me ... there were some jarring side trips (like the internal dialogue from Ellis' mother & her weird phone curfew) which ruined the story for me ... Cole's snark was fun, the relationship was cute but the book left me feeling a bit meh ...

I must admit that I prefer my kink to be consensual between equals so I find these stories hard to read because despite the submissive being willing, I agonise over the concept of consent when the alternative is so very dire ... well written & crafted just not quite my thing.

This is a lovely story that has it all ... love, tragedy, mystery & smex ... what more can you ask for? ... I loved the dichotomy of the big bad cop being the more submissive lover & the more flamboyant character being the top ... this book is a fast-paced, easy read which entertains the reader without being too demanding ... light on the angst & not too heavy on the erotica.
