Alvin Koo | 4 comments I am new to Goodreads. I am especially interested in mysteries tied to a geographic location. I remember reading a series tied to Martha's Vineyard. I know there is a growing body of work revolving around Hawaii. Anybody know of any other series? Alvin, they call me Papa Al.

Bill Welcome to the group Alvin. There is a series by Martin Walker, starting with Bruno, Chief Of Police by Martin Walker , set in a region of France that I quite enjoy; Donna Leon's Inspector Brunetti set in Venice, which is excellent and so many others.. Enjoy yourself trying to find more. I'm sure you'll get many recommendations.

David Freas (quillracer) | 2959 comments Welome Al.
Phillip R. Craig wrote a rather lengthy series set on Martha's Vineyard, and some of Linda Fairstein's Alex Cooper series take place there.

David Freas (quillracer) | 2959 comments If you go to www.stopyourekillingme.com and click on 'location index' on the left of the screen, it will bring up a dozen different countries/continents for you to pick from then click on one of them to narrow your search even further. Eventualy you will come to an alphabetical list of all authors who write mysteries set in whichever state/territory/country you want.

Beth | 408 comments Welcome to the group, Alvin! I endorse Dave's recommendation. Also, if you're looking for outdoor-oriented mysteries with a strong sense of place, I recommend William Kent Krueger's Cork O'Connor series set in Minnesota, Dana Stabenow's series set in Alaska, and my own RM Outdoor Adventures series starring whitewater river ranger Mandy Tanner that is set in Salida, Colorado.
