I wanted to update the photo of me on my author profile. I managed to delete the old one ok, but every time I try to upload a new one, it tells me only librarians can do this. So now I have no photo and my profile looks urgh.

Please help.

Yes, that's right. And it comes back with this https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...

It has an error message saying only librarians can edit author profiles and all my profile info is missing. But then when I reload my profile, the info is back.

But it just won't let me upload a new photo at all.

And it's also asking me 'Is this you?' But I've already claimed my profile and it's hooked up to my user account.

Ah, there was a duplicate profile. I merged them. See if you are able to upload a new photo now?

I'm having the same issue - trying to update my author photo and bio. I'm assuming I must have a duplicate profile as well?

Hi Kate, you'll want to change the picture on the edit page for your author profile, instead of your user profile, which can be set here.

Help! I tried to change my author photo, and now any photo I upload uploads sideways. I can't figure out how to change the orientation so that it is face up. Can someone fix this for me?

Jenny - I've seen this happen due to the size of an author photo. I'd be happy to take a closer look, you can send the photo to us via email (support at goodreads dot com), marked for my attention.

While attempting to changed my author profile photo, I deleted the old one. Now GR will not upload a new photo. I cropped it to the ideal size 700 x 933 and still no luck. Can you fix this for me? This is the response I have gotten on all eight attempts using different shapes and sizes of my photo:
Goodreads request took too long.
The latest request to the Goodreads servers took too long to respond. We have been notified of the issue and are looking into it."

Valery - After a couple dozen failed attempts yesterday, I just tried to update my author photo this morning and it worked! No idea why. Perhaps GR fixed a bug. Anyway, give it a try. I hope it works for you, too.

Never mind. After a couple dozen failed attempts, yesterday, it worked this morning. :) Now if I can just get my anthology (Never Fear - The Tarot) to appear on my profile, I'll be golden.

One more question: Does it take time before the book appears on my profile page with my other book? I didn't see a way to "claim" it, and this link--* Note: these are all the books on Goodreads for this author. To add more, click here.-- doesn't seem to apply to a contributing author of an existing publication.

Thanks! Mine went right through this time too. I wonder if it was because of the cyber attack on Friday. Maybe they were still trying to fix all the issues caused by that!

Greetings all! I, too, have run into this wall. My author profile pic is the standard "place holder" image and I can't see to change that.

I've gone ahead and added you to the Author Program and you should now be able to add your author image. Let me know if you run into any trouble!

I have added two pictures to my author profile. But, when I open an incognito window to check how it looks, I have only the placeholder image instead of my pictures. They are pics I took myself, so I have copyright. Is there something I'm not clicking to make them visible to others?

My author name is listed incorrectly (that is, my middle name is not listed). Perhaps this is why my picture doesn't show up? It shows up when I look at it, though. I am Emily Kay Johnson on Amazon and on the covers of my books. But my Goodreads profile shows Emily Johnson.

Hi Emily — I'm seeing the two images you've uploaded to your author profile. Thus, they're publicly visible.

Also, I was able to update your author name to include your middle name.
