Diane U (djuseless) For May 2013, we are reading Submerged by Dani Pettrey.

Submerged (Alaskan Courage, #1) by Dani Pettrey

Summary: A sabotaged plane. Two dead deep-water divers.

Yancey, Alaska was a quiet town . . . until the truth of what was hidden in the depths off the coast began to appear.

Bailey Craig vowed never to set foot in Yancey again. She has a past, and a reputation--and Yancey's a small town. She's returned to bury a loved one killed in the plane crash and is determined not to stay even an hour more than necessary. But then dark evidence emerges and Bailey's own expertise becomes invaluable for the case.

Cole McKenna can handle the deep-sea dives and helping the police recover evidence. He can even handle the fact that a murderer has settled in his town and doesn't appear to be moving on. But dealing with the reality of Bailey's reappearance is a tougher challenge.

She broke his heart, but she is not the same girl who left Yancey. He let her down, but he's not the same guy she left behind. Can they move beyond the hurts of their pasts and find a future together?

If I read it right, this book is lendable, anyone who has it and read it and would be willing to lend it for Kindle I'd be interested. I have a hold at my library for the e-book (they do not have the regular book) but I am pretty far down on the list.

I had read this one last year and enjoyed it very much; looking forward to reading book 2 in the series.

I finished this one. I really enjoyed it but sometimes the Russian History stuff got me confused. But I still liked it. I love a good clean mystery/romance!

Melissa | 127 comments I guess I'm a little less than halfway through. I really enjoy the Alaska setting, I went on an Alaskan cruise a couple of years back and really enjoyed it. This makes me want to go back!

I can't figure out what Cole's job actually is, I thought he was a rescue diver, but he seems to be doing part of the investigation as well. I don't know if he actually works for the police? It's confusing.

I also feel like there are too many characters, I can't keep them straight. I thought Landon was a McKenna brother, but was just reading the summary of the second book in the series and it seems like Landon is a police officer and he's not related. I did not figure that out. There's just all these characters with odd names as well - Reef, Gage, Kayden for a girl, etc. Not a John or Jenny in sight. :)

Melissa | 127 comments Oh, I will add, at this point I haven't gotten the mystery figured out at all, which is good. With some cozy-type mysteries, you can figure it out early on.
