Eliza Other than the racey sex scenes i actually like Christian and Ana love story, so my question is, is the crossfire series even woth the read, cuz honestly when i read quotes from it posted on pintrest the stuff Gidoen says sounds like Christian Grey. I mean is eva and gideon story even good or is it just a great sex book

message 2: by Kim (new) - rated it 4 stars

Kim Yes, by all means, read the series! It is soooo good! June can't come fast enough for the 3rd book!!! The Eva/Gideon romance will pull you in for sure. There is only one CG but you will come to love GC too!

Tara yes! it is worth the read. its not just great sex scenes (there are lots, and they are hot!) but a brillian story line too. this series is way better than 50 shades (in my opinion)! the only thing is, sylvia day has just announced that this is likely to be a 5 book series, book 3 isnt due for release til nxt month, and im expecting a long wait for books 4 and 5!

Autumn Culler Definitely.

F.B. I think 50 Shades was good. But Crossfire is GREAT.
I'd reccomend it. It's very different to Shades, nad I wouldnt go in comparing it to Shades, but it's deffinately a great read.

message 6: by Amy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Amy Honestly I liked Crossfire better! And YES you should read it!!!

Pearls Crossfire is much better than 50 Shades. Definitely read it

Stormy Absolutely! WAY better than 50 shades by a billion percent! ;-)

Eliza I originally got into the Fifty shades series because of all the talk about Henry Cavill "playing" or "should play" Christian Grey in the upcoming movies. But now its all about him being Gideon and even Sylvia Day wants him and I'm so intrigued but I feel like I'll be cheating on Christian hahahahaha... they need to come up with casts for both book series soon.

message 10: by Kami (new) - rated it 5 stars

Kami Dodson-Perry To be honest I found that Fifty Shades had more intense and good sex scenes but I loved that relationship with Ana and Christian. I think that the Crossfire series would be good for you to try. They have a lot of common parts that make them similar but there are some difference as well. In Fifty Shades only Christian had past secrets that made him have issues in Crossfire both main characters and some of the supporting characters all have flawed backgrounds. It is an interesting dynamic. I'm not sure if I posted a review or not but you can check it out. Just be careful of spoilers.

Megan Eva stands up for herself. SHe doesn't just let Gideon (love that name) push her around and fully control her. The FIRST BOOK has a very simular story line but it is much more compelling and interesting than FSOG.

Pearls If you liked 50 Shades, you may also want to try If I Were You and This Man. They also follow the basic formula, with nuance changes.

message 13: by Kath (new) - rated it 2 stars

Kath you should. but i suggest that you'll read it when the third book is out. or else it's your choice if you wanted to be like me counting down the remaining days left for Entwined :)

YES!

FORTH! I'm a pretty big poster on her message board and she subtly hinted at a forth book!

Mallory ~*Smut Pusher*~ Yes, yes, yes!! The sex scenes are definitely more intense, but their story is just as good as Christian and Ana's, if not better. Eva is a pretty strong character, not as insecure as Ana, which to me, was so much more appealing. I was hesitant to read it too, but I'm so happy I did. Hope you enjoy!

Mindy 5 books?! Sigh... I don't want to have to wait a couple years to get through the entire series. I've been waiting for book 3 long enough.

Evelyn Keddy These series are great. I loved Fifty Shades and I loved The Crossfire series even more. But after that you should so try the Black Dagger Brotherhood and then the Mid Night Breed series. Every time I turn around I am finding more and more series that just suck me in and captivate me to the point that I feel like I am living in the world of the book series I am reading. Also counting down the days to Sylvia's next book.

Trinesha I'm joining in on this discussion because I had the reverse recently. I really enjoyed the Crossfire series and after lots of people comparing the two series I decided to ready Fifty shades. I like Crossfire better, but Fifty is still good. I really like the characters in Crossfire and I see their development a bit more in the series vs Fifty.

Can't get enough of Gideon and Eva.

Courtney YESSS!!! And I will admit, the story at times feels a little surreal (billionaire falling for young female character), but they seemed more real than Ana and Christian, and they were more developed. They both had demons and baggage, and it unfolds beautifully into a relationship that you will love.... So definitely read it, and the third comes out in June!!!

I CAN'T EITHER!!! I am anxiously waiting for Entwined. I can't wait to start my reread prior to it's release. I like both series pretty much equally... one for the kinky fuckery and one for the emotional angst (and hot sex)

Another series that I completely fell into head over heels is Raine Miller's Blackstone Affair. Ethan is just scrumptious!

Connie I would definitely say try it. I mean most books have common threads, bht it is in the delivery that makes them good or not, and this series was GOOD!

message 23: by Prim (new) - rated it 5 stars

Prim Just don't compare the two, you will be just fine and I swear you'll love it!

message 24: by Jenn (new) - rated it 5 stars

Jenn Definitely read it. The first book has a lot of similarities to Fifty Shades, but by the second one, it no longer is comparable. If you liked 50 shades, you'll definitely like Crossfire. Seriously, the wait between books is excruciating!!!

woah! :) i didnt know that. wow thanks... oh no more days to count down :|

Dawna Raver Not only yes, but hell yes! So good!

LisaLisa It's so much better than FSoG, better written, better edited, and all around a more in depth and compelling story, IMO.

I agree. Though I still love Christian!

LisaLisa Dawna wrote: I agree. Though I still love Christian!"

You know, I do love CG's character. He is interesting to me, complex. Ana often annoyed me. Overall, I enjoyed the series FSoG, but I find myself more drawn in to the Crossfire series, and I am not constantly annoyed by issues with the writing and editing. Also, EL James was very repetitive with things. There was a lot of eye rolling when reading the books. Somebody spank me!

I'm in complete agreement, with you Lisa! James was very repetitive. Try listening to the audiobook. Since it was unabridged every email detail was read. Ugh.

The Crossfire series is a much stronger offering. Actually, the last book made me cry. I don't do that often.

Yineth Yes but I would wait till the 3rd came out I made the mistake and read it now I cant wait for the happy ending lol

message 32: by Amanda (new)

Amanda You definitely should read the crossfire series. I read 50 Shades of Grey, but I like this series better. I would wait to start reading it until the last book in the series comes out in the next few months. To me this series was more than just about sex, the story of the main characters is better in this series than 50 Shades of Grey.

Cindy Yes you should read the crossfire series, it's awesome, a bit more crude than 50 shade but all and all..it's great.

Wanda Yes, you should definitely read the crossfire series. Granted, I read Bared to You immediately after finishing 50 Shades and I initially hated it! I loved 50 so much that I felt like Crossfire was a knock off. It was just too many similarities. But after waiting several months and reading many other series, I went back to read book 1 when I bought book 2. My God, I liked it so much better after putting time between the two series. I now love both but Crossfire is written way better (in love with the 50 story though). CG and GC simply can't be compared though, IMHO. Christian Grey...all the way! But Crossfire is definitely worth the investment.

Katrina I liked the story line better in the crossfire series. 50 shades was good but seemed thin on the story and heavy on the sex, crossfire was a bit better balanced.

Vashti Analise wrote: "Other than the racey sex scenes i actually like Christian and Ana love story, so my question is, is the crossfire series even woth the read, cuz honestly when i read quotes from it posted on pintre..."

Well I must simply have read a different Crossfire book since I don't agree with any body here. Eva is a garden tool, meaning a straight up Ho, and Gideon is just an idiot!(although I can tolerate his character way more than that skank Eva), all this book needs is some cheesy, lame music playing in the background, and U have got yourself one heck of a B-budget porn flick.

Debbie J Definitely yes. It's much better written and edited than the 50 Shades books. The Crossfire series is like a parallel universe of the 50 Shades series, except that the Ana parallel doesn't start out as a unbelievable idiot and the Christian parallel is a bit less stalkerish. IMO, the Crossfire protagonists seem more like equals than the two in 50 Shades. Now, there are some eye-rolling moments in the Crossfire books but if you could buy the nonsense in the 50 Shades series (or in erotic romance novels in general) then you'll have no problem.

I'm anxiously awaiting the third book.

Martha YES most definitely!!!

I absolutely loved, loved this story. Right now this is my all time fave! I have read it and re-read it over, and over again. I know this book by heart.
