Eva-Marie Nevarez (evamarie3578) | 753 comments Can someone please delete this for me?

http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/63...

The member listing it incorrectly and I already talked to her to make sure of it. She wanted to just fix it but I told her to forget it because she's the only one who has used that listing and I gave her the regular listing link.
No one has reviewed it and she's the only person who has it listed yet it's telling me I can't delete it with this many ratings.
Why is that?
Thanks!

Is the book incorrectly named should it be Dark Objects?

I suspect that because the book is the only one, with 1 review it cannot be deleted, it needs to be renamed, and merged with the correct title and the deleted. I think - Im sure some one will set us right

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) | 2400 comments Well, I hope I didn't blow it. Eva, Could you please message that member again and tell them to put whatever book it is they wanted on their shelf. I did delete it. When I went to it, it showed "0 ratings, 0.00 average rating, 0 reviews (more data...)" and was a completely blank book but when I deleted it, it said 1 review had been deleted. Ack! It sure didn't show up anywhere on the book's page.

Eva-Marie Nevarez (evamarie3578) | 753 comments You didn't blow it Lisa! I wouldn't have asked for it to be deleted if I hadn't already told the member to switch it! :)
It actually wasn't a review though- only a rating if I remember correctly but I had already sent her the link and asked her to switch it right before I posted her. I heard back from her and she said thanks and she was sorry. I also told her that most books, especially one as popular as this, is already in the system more than likely but if she does ever need to list one I gave her the info that's crucial to the listing. I also told her to feel free to ask me or another librarian for help.
So it's fine!
And thanks Paula- for the helpul info- I do have a question. If I would have combined these two (you guessed right about the correct title) after changing the name of this, how would I then delete it? By seperating it? I haven't ever done that so I'm trying to figure it out and someone else mentioned doing this to me recently. Thanks!

Paula (paulaan) | 7014 comments If the book has not been merged with the other editions - merge it
Then select the book by clicking the details link at the side of the book to be deleted.

On the book page click edit, make sure its the one you want to delete and at the bottom of the book edit page, is a Delete this book link

If there are any review on the book you are deleting these are automatically merged with the most popular edition of the book

Eva-Marie Nevarez (evamarie3578) | 753 comments Thanks Paula- I'm glad to know I assumed right! You were helping me here and Isis was helping me answer the same question from earlier in another post and I was just thinking about it and how I would go about it if I had to and that's what I figured.
Sometimes I feel like so much of this is over my head (I was telling Isis- I really only do simple editing, spelling mistakes, simple combining, making the listing uniform, etc.) but I like to learn more so I'm glad I was able to figure it out and have people willing to help me!
Thanks again!

Eva-Marie Nevarez (evamarie3578) | 753 comments Another question!
A librarian listed this but it doesn't have an ISBN and no publisher is listed. Should I try to find out from her what they are or if the book doesn't have an ISBN?

It's #2 on my "find at" list, followed by WorldCat. Those are the absolutely best places to find book info that's missing from here (and Amazon).

Eva-Marie Nevarez (evamarie3578) | 753 comments Amazon is what I'd been using but thank you- I'd feel much better using what you use. I'm going to go to WorldCat and bookmark that also. :)

Cait (tigercait) | 4988 comments Eva, are you familiar with the "find at" links on book editions? They're crazy useful for librarians! When you edit your account, the last tab is for "book links", and if you edit your "find at" links, the first three in the list show up as links on every book edition. (I use Google, WorldCat, and Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec (which, it turns out, is a fantastic resource for original titles on books translated into French).)

Amazon is my #1. ;) Mostly so I can see what's there before hitting the "refresh from Amazon" link.
